Perth Scorchers Women 147/9 in 20 overs Maddy Darke 45(33) | Sophie Day 4/27 Alana King 21*(15) | Annabel Sutherland 2/31
It got a bit too close for the comfort of Melbourne Stars in the end but the teenaged Alice Capsey managed to hold on to her nerves and closed the game out for her side. The Stars have ended their three match winless streak in this year's WBBL and they've done it at the junction oval in a low scoring thriller.
The Scorchers struggled from the very beginning as they lost a couple of wickets early on and the likes of Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine departed cheaply. They were reeling at 60/4 during the halfway stage. But it was Maddy Darke who began a counter attack from there. She took her time early on and then played some delightful strokes en route her 45 from 33 balls. Unfortunately she ran out of partners which led to her downfall in the end.
The Scorchers seemed to be heading towards a big defeat at this stage of the game as they needed around 40 from the final two overs with just one wicket remaining but Alana King playing her 100th game had something else in mind as she scored a flurry of boundaries and sixes to put the Stars under pressure. In the end, Alice Capsey held on to herself and closed out what turned out to be a low scoring thriller in the end.
It was Sophie Day who was the star performer with the ball for the Stars as she picked up four wickets and spun a web around the Scorchers batters. Annabel Sutherland was expensive early on but she picked up two wickets in the surge and that was the turning point in the run chase. Alice Capsey also got a couple of wickets but she bowled a really expensive last over which spoilt her figures a bit in the end.

19.6 Alice Capsey to Alana King, MELBOURNE STARS WOMEN WIN IT! Full toss around off-stump. King goes for a big swipe across the line. It does not get middled and takes the top edge to go behind the keeper. A really fine third man then moves to her left to stop the boundary and keep it down to one run only!
19.5 Alice Capsey to Taneale Peschel, over the wicket, short and slow outside off-stump. Peschel moves across again and pulls but does not beat Garth at long-leg! One run only.
This is unbelievable drama! What are you doing Capsey? The Scorchers are in touching distance now! This would be the most incredible win in the history of WBBL
19.4 Alice Capsey to Taneale Peschel, SIX RUNS! WOW! Slightly short on leg-stump. Peschel steps across and lifts it magnificently well over fine-leg for a maximum! 10 runs to get off 2 balls.
19.3 Alice Capsey to Alana King, full on middle-and-off. Smacked to deep mid-wicket from the crease for only a single this time!
19.2 Alice Capsey to Alana King, FOUR MORE! Full and wide outside off-stump. Whacked down the ground past the right of mid-off for a boundary!
19.1 Alice Capsey to Alana King, FOUR RUNS! Good length ball on the pads. Hoicked to the fine-leg region from down on one knee fora boundary!
19.1 Alice Capsey to Alana King, another WIDE down the leg-side from Capsey! Time to bowl it again.
19.1 Alice Capsey to Alana King, good length ball outside leg-stump here. That is a WIDE to begin the over!
A couple of lusty blows from King in that over but it's a bit too late in the piece for the Scorchers. They need 29 runs from the final over now and it will take them a miracle to get over the line from here on.
