That would be that from the coverage of this match. It is time for us to leave. But do stay logged on to Sportskeeda for all the live cricket coverage from around the globe. This is Prakhar Sachdeo and on behalf of my fellow commentator Nikhil Kulkarni, I say goodnight!
Will Jacks, Player of the Match: I have enjoyed opening with Jason. We are very settled. The team management is brilliant. A few years of hard work is now showing. Everyone is clear about their roles.
Gareth Batty, Surrey skipper: A pretty good start. A very decent performance. We could be smart with the ball. There are little things, but we can get better. We want a free open mind for our players.
Eoin Morgan, Middlesex skipper: Surrey is a very experienced side. But we gave a good account of ourselves in the chase as we had a fantastic start. But we could not continue. They (Bamber and Cullen) learnt a huge amount. Unfortunately, it did not end the way we would have wanted to. The support around the group is always there.
And with that Surrey win the London derby by 54 runs. It just was not Middlesex's day. The team from the North of London struggled right from the beginning of the game. Chasing a mammoth target of 224 was never going to be easy. But Middlesex opener Paul Stirling gave his side some hope as he was excellent in his 28-ball 58 hitting five fours and four sixes. But just like Will Jacks, Paul Stirling too got run-out against the run of the play. There was some hope as Eoin Morgan scored a breezy 32 from 17 deliveries. But once the Middlesex skipper walked back, the rest of the batters struggled and the team collapsed to just 169 from 20 overs.

Sam Curran bowled a fantastic spell of 4/29. There was a wicket each for Jordan Clark, Gareth Batty, and Dan Moriarty.

Earlier in the day, Morgan had won the toss and opted to bowl first. But he would have expected better from his bowlers. The Middlesex bowlers were hammered all over the park by the Surrey batters to take the total to 223/7. The stage was set very early on as Surrey opener Will Jacks blasted 70 from only 24 balls hitting nine fours and five sixes. Jacks' fifty was the third-fastest half-century in the history of Vitality T20 Blast and fastest ever by a Surrey batter in the history of this contest. Jason Roy was not at his efficient best but still was able to score 45 from 42 deliveries.

Middlesex lost a bit in the middle overs but then that extraordinary penultimate over sent down by Blake Cullen. The young bowler bowled two waist-high full-tosses which were hammered for two sixes by Tom Curran. Cullen was removed following his second no-ball and Ethan Bamber completed the over. That over eventually resulted in 28 runs. As a result of that huge 19th over Surrey were able to go beyond 200 and eventually post 223/7. Nathan Sowter was the pick of the bowlers as he had the figures of 3/40. Old warhorse Steve Finn had the figures of 2/41.

Eleven runs off the over. Chris Green hit a stylish shot down the ground for a boundary. But that won't affect the outcome of the match now.

18.6 Tom Curran to Chris Green, FOUR!! In the slot outside off, drills this down with a lot of power to long off boundary
18.5 Tom Curran to Chris Green, short ball on middle and leg, tries to pull this one but misses
18.4 Tom Curran to Chris Green, full length ball on middle and leg, Green smashes this one to deep square leg. The fielder at deep square leg dives and fumbles but again takes the bowl back just before the boundary line, his foot seemed to have touched the boundary rope but it's a tight one, not given boundary
