MI vs KXIP Match Result
- IPL 2019 Match 24
Kings XI Punjab
197/4 (20.0 ov)
198/7 (20.0 ov)
Mumbai Indians won by 3 wickets
Player of the match:
Phew, that was a manic game! Mumbai are on a roll at the moment. They've now won three in a row and are looking good. Meanwhile, KXIP hit another roadblock. Hope you enjoyed our live coverage of this thrilling game. CSK face RR tomorrow in another return fixture in Jaipur. But until then, it's a goodbye from us!
: I went up the order as I wanted to make use of the spin. The plan was to take the attack to Ashwin but it didn't happen. This one goes to the team as we rallied hard as we weren't upto the mark with the execution. I like seeing the ball sail into the stands. It's just a matter of keeping calm. Rohit is the captain of the team but we rested him as a precautionary measure. He should be fine for the next game.
: Rajpoot injured it in the first over which was always going to be a problem. But we got three overs away from him in the powerplay. We were up and down with our catching and fielding and so, if we had been sharper we might have been on the right side. The total was just about par because of the dew. It's a pretty hard defending ground this. We were good with the bowling in bits and pieces. Sam Curran was under the pump and it can happen when a batsman like Pollard is going like that. Gayle twisted his back and we have to go back and check on him.
Phew, what a game! What a finish! What a run-chase! Hardly have any nails left! Mumbai never looked like chasing this. At the halfway stage they were 62/3 after the top three failed to convert starts. But it was a certain Kieron Pollard who played a blinder. He turned the game single-handedly as he hit 83 off 31 which included 10 massive sixes. The hard-hitting West Indian simply smashed every bowler out of the park before he got out and made things very interesting towards the end. But Alzarri Joseph held his nerve to get 2 off the final ball to help MI win a thriller.
Mumbai Indians have done it
! Alzarri Joseph holds his nerve and just pats it down the ground and rushes back for two. What a start Alzarri Joseph has had to his IPL career. Best IPL figures on debut and then gets them over the line with the bat next game!
19.6 Ankit Rajpoot to Rahul Chahar. Full toss, two runs, Alzarri Joseph hits it back past the bowler and gets back for the second. MI win the thriller.
2 off 1 now. Super Over on the cards?
Well, what a game this has turned out to be! Pressure everywhere!
19.5 Ankit Rajpoot to Rahul Chahar. Full toss, off stump on the front foot flick, to mid wicket for 1 run, fielded by Miller.
19.4 Ankit Rajpoot to Alzarri Joseph. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to mid on for 1 run.
Dot ball. There's tension all around. Nervous and tense faces in both camps.
19.3 Ankit Rajpoot to Alzarri Joseph. Full toss, middle stump on the front foot driving, to silly mid off for no runs, fielded by Rajpoot.
Oh, hold on! This game is still alive. Pollard has been bounced out.
4 off 4 now
. Is there another twist in the tale here? Oh boy, this is a real nail-biter!
19.2 OUT! Caught. Ankit Rajpoot to Kieron Pollard. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to deep mid wicket, by Miller.
That's a boundary and Pollard has got MI on the brink. Rajpoot bowls a full-toss and Pollard helps it away for four.
Four off five required now
19.1 FREE HIT. FOUR! Ankit Rajpoot to Kieron Pollard. Full toss, down leg side on the front foot flick, well timed in the air under control past fine leg for 4 runs.
Nerves, absolute nerves from Rajpoot! No-ball and six and now, this is MI's game to lose. Pollard is doing it for them.
19.1 SIX! Ankit Rajpoot to Kieron Pollard. Full toss, down leg side on the front foot flick, well timed in the air under control to deep mid wicket for 1 run.
Oh, it's all happening out there at the Wankhede! Rajpoot pulls out of his delivery stride and winks at Pollard as he walks back.
Can Rajpoot stop the rampaging Pollard? What will his plans be?
15 required off the final over
! There's no doubt that Pollard is going to face every delivery in this final over. Ankit Rajpoot will bowl the final over. This is some pressure. Both dugouts seem tense.
MI: 183/6(RR 9.63)
4 . 6 6 1 .
18.6 Sam Curran to Alzarri Joseph. Yorker, outside off stump backing away driving, to backward point for no runs, fielded by Khan.
18.5 Sam Curran to Kieron Pollard. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to deep extra cover for 1 run, fielded by Nair.
Another one that's flown out of the ground. Curran is just not learning as he continues to dish out length balls and pays the price.
18.4 SIX! Sam Curran to Kieron Pollard. Length ball, to leg on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control over long on for 6 runs.
You just can't bowl length to Pollard, you simply can't, he will smash you all day. Four followed by six. Curran under immense pressure here.
18.3 SIX! Sam Curran to Kieron Pollard. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control over long off for 6 runs.
18.2 Sam Curran to Kieron Pollard. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, to deep extra cover for no runs, fielded by Nair.
18.1 FOUR! Sam Curran to Kieron Pollard. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control past deep extra cover for 4 runs.
Right then, 32 required off the last two and Pollard is on a rampage! Sam Curran to bowl the penultimate over. He did it against Delhi, can he do it once again?
