That's it from this game then! Hope you enjoyed our live coverage. India take on West Indies tomorrow. Do join in for that clash as well. Until then, it's a goodbye from us!
Sarfaraz Ahmed [Winning Captain]: Crowds are always behind the Pakistan team. Fielding is a very important part and we have not done well as a unit in the previous matches, so we worked hard and it was good the way we took catches. Credit goes to the bowlers. The way Amir started and then Shaheen Shah bowled really well and Shadab in the middle overs. All the bowlers bowled well. Babar Azam and Haris Sohail batted really well. It was a tricky pitch and 240 was not an easy target. Credit to Babar Azam and Haris Sohail. Our focus is on the next match and as a team, we are very confident.
Kane Williamson [Losing Captain]: Tough surface and we were outplayed by a very strong Pakistan side. There was certainly more bounce than what we experienced the other day. A lot of credit to the way the Pakistan side bowled. The fight that was shown through the middle and back end was outstanding to get us to a position which was competitive. Babar and Haris, both played beautifully well and they took it away from us. We thought if we got 230-250, then you can be competitive. You want to be playing strong and consistent cricket. We look forward to our next match, a different venue and a different opposition.
Babar Azam [Man of the Match]: Really thankful to God. My aim was to bat for 50 overs and win the match for Pakistan. When I started off, I wanted to take it easy against the fast bowlers but when Santner came in, the turn was big and the plan was not to give him wickets. Hafeez told me to stick in and play long. The crowd has always supported us.
This has been an excellent performance from Pakistan. Right from the start, they were brilliant. With the ball, the fast bowlers set it up, led by 19-year-old Shaheen Afridi. They did taper off towards the end to allow New Zealand to post a competitive total. However, chasing 238 was not going to be easy on a tricky surface. Moreover, Pakistan lost their openers early. However, it was Babar Azam who anchored the chase beautifully. He found an able partner in Haris Sohail as the duo stitched a wonderful 126-run partnership. Babar Azam scored a wonderful ton while Haris Sohail scored an excellent 68. By no means was this run-chase easy. Pakistan had to fight hard and grind it out. Mitchell Santner bowled a ripping seven-over spell where he was very unlucky not to pick up a wicket. However, Sohail and Azam saw off that tough phase and won the game for Pakistan. They did drag it to the final over but skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed hit the winning runs and killed the contest.
It's all over. Sarfaraz Ahmed hits the winning runs and Pakistan have won a crucial game. New Zealand's unbeaten run has come to an end.
49.1 FOUR! Lockie Ferguson to Sarfaraz Ahmed. Full toss, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed past deep point for 4 runs.
Over 49 PAK: 237/4(RR 4.84) Bowler: M Henry Summary: 1 1 W . 1 . |

48.4 Matt Henry to Sarfaraz Ahmed. Off cutter back of a length, outside off stump no foot movement Steer, to gully for no runs, fielded by Guptill.
That's a brilliant piece of fielding by Martin Guptill. He might've failed with the bat, but he's been magnificent in the field. Just two runs to get and he runs out Haris Sohail. He runs in from backward point and dives forward to flick the bails off.
48.3 OUT! Run Out. Matt Henry to Babar Azam. Off cutter yorker, outside off stump on the front foot dropped, to silly point, fielded by Guptill.
48.2 Matt Henry to Haris Sohail. Back of a length, down leg side on the back foot glancing, to fine leg for 1 run, fielded by Ferguson.
48.1 Matt Henry to Babar Azam. Off cutter back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, to deep mid wicket for 1 run, fielded by Neesham.
A mere formality left now. Just four runs needed.

47.4 Lockie Ferguson to Haris Sohail. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot working, Gloved to short leg for no runs, fielded by Ferguson.
Hundred for Babar Azam!! 10th in ODI cricket and first in World Cup cricket. What a knock this has been from the Pakistan No. 3. He's batted beautifully. Mind you, this hasn't been an easy pitch to bat on and this lad has brought Pakistan on the brink of a win.

47.2 Lockie Ferguson to Haris Sohail. Length ball, off stump backing away driving, to mid off for 1 run, fielded by Williamson.
Brilliant shot from Haris Sohail. Makes room and carves it past backward point for his fifth boundary.
47.1 FOUR! Lockie Ferguson to Haris Sohail. Back of a length, outside off stump backing away Late Cut, well timed past deep backward point for 4 runs.
Oh anti-climax! Babar Azam plays out four successive dot balls and is still on 99.
Over 47 PAK: 225/3(RR 4.79) Bowler: T Boult Summary: . 1 . . . . |
