That is all we have from this game but hey, the weekend's here and that means, the excitement is set to double. The first clash in tomorrow's double-header sees Gujarat Titans take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Brabourne Stadium, following which Rajasthan Royals go head-to-head against Mumbai Indians in Navi Mumbai. He's been a pivotal and unassuming contributor for the Super Giants all season and this award is a just reward for the same as far as Krunal Pandya is concerned. The plethora of all-rounders at LSG's disposal is certainly aiding the team's cause - with 6 wins from 9 games, they are sauntering towards the playoffs and are riding high on confidence. They will look to sustain that momentum with a big game coming up on Sunday (May 1) against the Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium. As for Punjab Kings, they just haven't got any kind of consistency going and their powerful batting unit has let them down again. Loads to ponder over for them ahead of their next clash against Gujarat Titans in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday (May 3).

Krunal Pandya is the Player of the Match for his returns of 2/11 off 4 overs!

Pandya: I've been bowling well throughout the tournament. Nobody knows but I've been working on my bowling over the last 7-8 months, trying to get tall. Special mention to Rahul Sanghvi who has been a big help to me. I had a chat with him 7-8 months back and told him that I want to develop more skills. I felt that I was always good with my mindset but if i had developed my skills and add more to my bowling it would really help. The results are showing and everyone can see I've been trying to get better as a bowler. I've been playing a lot of shorter formats so sometimes you don't realize what's happening. I realized my stride was too big and at the end of the delivery I just had to fire the ball and play with the batter's mind. I felt that if I get tall and if I impart more spin - I have always varied my pace but if I am able to impart spin or grip the ball that would create a lot of doubt in the batter's mind. Rahul Sanghvi was kind enough to help me and I'm glad with how it's coming out. (On his batting) Honestly disappointed at not contributing since batting is slightly close to my heart (laughs). Disappointing last two games but my focus has always been on accepting mistakes. If I don't do it right I accept my mistakes since that is the only way you can get better. Long tournament ahead so I know I will contribute with the bat going forward since I am batting well now.

KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants Captain): I was disappointed to be honest (with the total). I was fuming after the first innings because it was stupid cricket with the bat. The experienced guys in the team...it does happen but we did talk in the timeout that it's a tricky pitch. 160 we felt would have been a respectable total. A couple of bad shots and the run out but this was the bowlers' game - the way they bowled throughout the 20 overs was brilliant. They executed their plans, held their nerve and were brave with both bat and ball. But as a batting unit we need to go back and get better. At the halfway mark we felt that Quinny and Hooda batted really well to get to 60/1 in 9 overs. After the timeout too they kept getting boundaries and rotated the strike well. It wasn't a 180-190 pitch but we could have got there if one of the top three had batted through until the end. We lost four or five quick wickets but the way the bowlers responded was outstanding. Krunal's been brilliant throughout the tournament. He's always been an economical bowler every other season but this year he's worked a lot on bowling and has been getting wickets. If you're getting two or three wickets in the middle-overs it puts pressure on the batters and that's what he's been doing. Bishnoi is an aggressive bowler and sometimes we don't mind him tossing the ball up and trying to get wickets. If he gets hit for sixes it doesn't matter. The fast bowlers have been exceptional in the last couple of games. That'll give us confidence and we can build on it going forward. I think we need to be smarter in reading the situation of the game. If we could have just not played too many shots and found a way to build partnerships in the middle...we always talk about not losing two wickets quickly so that's something we have to work on. The rest of the things are good - we've been good in the field and with the ball. We just need to keep repeating the same things, keep doing the right things and keep improving on things that we can do better.

Quinton de Kock (Lucknow Super Giants): A bit of a surprise to be honest. I thought we didn't have the total we wanted to but our bowlers were superb today. They bowled really really well and it's great to have that sort of bowling lineup. A couple of bombs there by Mohsin at the end there which was great to see. To be honest it's not really his job to be doing it - it's us at the top of the order who have to score the runs. He took up responsibility though so congrats to him - he had a great game. I'm at ease with my game at the moment - we play so much that you have to keep soldiering along every game we play. Whether you win or lose you just have to keep soldiering on game after game.

Mayank Agarwal (Punjab Kings Captain): I think we kept losing wickets. We had batters who were set and they kept getting out. Too many soft dismissals for us. It is obviously disappointing. We didn't bat well enough. It should have been chased down and we were below par with the bat. The new ball was doing a bit and it was seaming a bit. The new ball was crucial. After that, it did get better to bat on. The odd ball was stopping and turning. I think we are bowling exceedingly well. As a bowling unit, we are doing a lot of things right

Lucknow Super Giants 153/8 in 20 overs (Quinton de Kock 46 off 37, Kagiso Rabada 4/38 off 4 overs) beat Punjab Kings 133/8 in 20 overs (Jonny Bairstow 32 off 28, Mohsin Khan 3/24 off 4 overs) by 20 runs.

Not one of the Punjab Kings' batters got a big score and that sums up what has been a lackadaisical run chase on their part. A target of 154 wasn't gargantuan by any means, despite the pitch not quite being a flat highway. That said, it was an implosion of the poorest kind by the Kings and that, coupled with a professional bowling and fielding performance by the Lucknow Super Giants, tilted the scales in favor of the latter.

It took 12 deliveries for the first run to come off the bat but thereafter, Mayank Agarwal took the attack to the LSG bowlers. His departure in the Powerplay was untimely, yet the equation was such that it was not a daunting task by any means for the Kings. If only they approached the chase in a similar manner...

Shikhar Dhawan had a tough outing and a soft dismissal on the part of Bhanuka Rajapaksa brought the two Englishmen in Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone out in the middle. Both batters took their time and were ready for the long haul before the latter launched into Ravi Bishnoi with a couple of towering hits.

Against the run of play though, Livingstone scooped a slower delivery into the gloves of Quinton de Kock and that triggered the capitulation that followed. Wickets fell at regular intervals with the asking rate rising in equal proportion. Bairstow was the last hope for the Kings and once he holed out, the cookie had truly crumbled.

Rishi Dhawan looked to hit out at just about every delivery but the change ups from the LSG seamers were tough to handle. It was a collective bowling performance that saw the Super Giants pocket a couple of points and soar to third position on the table. How good was Krunal Pandya, going at just under 3 per over? And of course, a certain Mohsin Khan continues to take giant strides at every opportunity presented to him. Let's not forget his big hits towards the end of the innings along with those of Dushmantha Chameera, that played a massive role as the end result would suggest.

Yet another day, yet another successful defense by the Super Giants! And considering they didn't have a mammoth total on the board, it's a handsome margin as well to boot. Lucknow Super Giants beat Punjab Kings by 20 runs!
