- IPL 2020 Match 40
191/6 (20.0 ov)
193/4 (19.2 ov)
Delhi Capitals won by 6 wickets
Player of the match:
And that's a wrap from this game. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. CSK take on SRH at the Chepauk tomorrow. Do join us for that game as well. But until then, it's a goodbye from us!
Rishabh Pant [Man of the Match]
: Feeling lovely to make the team win in a crucial match. [The WC selection] was running on my mind. I focus on my process and that's what I was doing. When you keep you know that wicket is working and that's an advantage I guess. We just try to keep it simple and the support staff tell people their roles.
: When we play away from home, the wickets have been good and the batters love to play on the rise and this is perfectly made for them. We were not aware of how the wicket would play back home in Delhi. We are happy with the way our team is going and spreading the positivity. The wicket was a belter and Rahane played brilliantly.
: We probably didn't finish off with the bat as well as we could have. From the position we were in, 200 would've been ideal. The wicket played really well and it's the best one we've played. Shikhar played a magnificent knock and young Rishabh at the back end did a terrific job. It's always hard for the bowlers when dew is around. We weren't good enough to get over the line tonight. We got outplayed by a good Delhi outfit.
DC paced the run chase really well. Shikhar Dhawan batted beautifully at the top as he took the attack to the RR bowlers in the powerplay. He notched up a fifty but fell soon after. Shreyas Iyer didn't hang on too long and then it was the arrival of Rishabh Pant that changed quite a bit. He was sedate at the start of his innings as Shaw also scratched his way around. However, once he got his flow he was unstoppable. He scored 76 off 36 balls as he helped DC romp home with four balls to spare.
It's all over and Rishabh Pant has finished it with a typical one-handed six! Excellent run-chase by the Delhi Capitals and they now move to the top of the points table with 14 points.
19.2 SIX! Jaydev Unadkat to Rishabh Pant. Off cutter short, outside off stump on the front foot hooking, well timed in the air under control over deep mid wicket for 6 runs.
19.1 Jaydev Unadkat to Colin Ingram. Off cutter back of a length, outside off stump Deep in crease cutting, outside edge to third man for 1 run, fielded by Kulkarni.
Just 6 needed off the final over and Jaydev Unadkat to bowl it.
What a shot, what a strike! Just when you thought you need to play Archer out and leave it to the final over, Rishabh Pant goes straight down the ground for six. Wonderful strike and now only 6 needed.

18.6 SIX! Jofra Archer to Rishabh Pant. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control over long on for 6 runs.

18.4 Jofra Archer to Rishabh Pant. Off cutter short, outside off stump on the front foot hooking, top edge in the air uncontrolled to square leg for 3 runs, mis-fielded by Binny, mis-fielded by Stokes.
18.3 Jofra Archer to Colin Ingram. Full toss, off stump backing away Steer, to backward point for 1 run, fielded by Turner.
Excellent start to the 19th over from Jofra Archer. Two back to back dots.
18.2 Jofra Archer to Colin Ingram. Half volley, outside off stump backing away driving, mis-timed to silly mid off for no runs, mis-fielded by Archer, fielded by Smith.
18.1 Jofra Archer to Colin Ingram. Back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot driving, missed to wicketkeeper for no runs, fielded by Samson.
Kulkarni has the last laugh as he gets his man as Rutherford holes out. But has the wicket come a tad late?

17.6 OUT! Caught. Dhawal Kulkarni to Sherfane Rutherford. Off cutter short, down leg side on the back foot pulling, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to long off, by Das.
This is very good batting from Rutherford. Half-volley and dispatched for four.
17.5 FOUR! Dhawal Kulkarni to Sherfane Rutherford. Half volley, outside off stump backing away driving, well timed in the air under control past deep cover for 4 runs.
17.4 Dhawal Kulkarni to Rishabh Pant. Off cutter short, down leg side on the front foot cutting, in the air under control to deep cover for 1 run, fielded by Binny.
17.3 Dhawal Kulkarni to Sherfane Rutherford. Full toss, wide outside off stump backing away cutting, bottom edge to backward point for 1 run, fielded by Turner.
Kulkarni opts to go for the slower ball and he travels the distance as Rutherford smokes it for six.
17.2 SIX! Dhawal Kulkarni to Sherfane Rutherford. Off cutter length ball, down leg side on the front foot Slog, well timed over deep mid wicket for 6 runs.
17.1 Dhawal Kulkarni to Rishabh Pant. Full toss, to leg on the front foot flick, to deep mid wicket for 1 run.
The asking rate continues to hover around 10. Three overs to go now! Archer has only one over left. Who will bowl the other two?
