Puducherry 273/6 (50 ov)
Rajasthan 274/4 (46.1 ov)
Rajasthan won by 6 wkts (23b rem)
Rajasthan completing a comfortable run-chase in the end then! Manendra Singh leading the way with a brilliant 115 who was almost there till the very end, getting out trying to finish off the game. He along with Aditya Garhwal at the top set up the chase nicely as the duo laid the foundation with a 122-run stand for the opening wicket that put Rajasthan in control of the game. Puducherry needed early wickets which they failed to get as Rajasthan managed to score 60 runs off the powerplay. Skipper Ashok Menaria and Mahipal Lomror as well chipping in with handy contributions playing their roles well. Rajasthan got the key partnerships throughout the chase which made it easy for them and eventually a one-sided contest in the second half! What they did really well was to keep getting those one's and two's that they kept churning out which put pressure on the fielding side and the boundaries kept coming as well with ease. They maintained that run-rate all the way and displayed a really good example of how to go about in a run-chase!

The Puducherry bowling simply lacked that attacking spirit as the bowlers could not put the batsmen under any kind of pressure. The inexperience quite evident there as they could not manage to make it tough for Rajasthan even after having posted a really strong total on the board. There wasn't much help off the surface that did make it easy for the batsmen, but they had to be more attacking in not giving away those one's and two's easily. Lessons to be learnt then for Puducherry from this game. They made a solid recovery with the bat but just weren't competitive enough with the ball.

Rajasthan coming into this tournament on the back of a good Syed Mushtaq Ali campaign and they have carried that momentum starting off with a win here as well! They will be happy with the way they came back into the contest to chase this total down and it just shows the experience that they carry in their batting order.

That's all from this encounter of the Paytm Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021. This has been Rishab and my partner Bala as we take your leave for the day! Stay tuned for more action from the games to come.
And that is the game for Rajasthan winning comfortably with six wickets and just about four overs to spare! A pretty one-sided run-chase that and a convincing win for the home team in the end!

Manendra looked to finish it off but ended up getting out after a brilliant innings for Rajasthan! Just another consolation wicket for Puducherry that and Rajasthan just need a run for the win now!
