Roma Cricket Club beat Rome Bangal Cricket Club by 2 wickets

OH MY MY! Fellas catch your breath after what we have just witnessed! They say truth is stranger than fiction and tell you what, they are absolutely right. The chase culminating in the wildest of the fashion that nobody could have predicted. A slight chip over the in-field and a fumble by the wicketkeeper allowing the Roma CC batsmen to scamper around for three. Oh, you cannot make this up! ECS T10 is the epitome of cricketing entertainment at the moment and no questions will be entertained at this point.

The chase was off to a flier as Dinidu Marage marauded his way through a blistering 48 off 16 balls, laced with 7 gargantuan maximums and one solitary boundary. At one time, it looked like Roma would get over the line easily with an over or two to spare. However, what happened afterwards was a spectacular collapse with 4 wickets falling at the score of 64 and Rome Bangla had fashioned an epic comeback.

Wickets continued to tumble and at the end of 7 overs, Roma were 80/7 and requiring a miracle to get over the line. Add to it the heartbreak of losing on the golden ball early in the day and you could sense the team was desperately praying for that slice of luck to go their way.

It was Denham Seneviratne who was the answer to Roma CC's prayers as he played a blinder of an innings to resurrect the fortunes of his team. Denham smashed a 23 ball 51 runs innings and ensured that his team was on the brink of a highly unlikely victory. With 3 runs required off 2 balls, Denham played a powerful shot down the ground which was snaffled up in an acrobatic manner by skipper Anik Ahmed. With the memories of the 'Golden Ball match' once again coming to haunt the team, Indika Sen took the onus upon himself to steer his team towards the victory shores on the last ball and remove any bad juju for his team.

So that was it from me Abhinav Singh and my partner Maanas Upadhyay. Hope you had fun as much as we had bringing this chaotic madness of a game in a tournament called ECS to you. Until next time, stay safe, stay indoors and keep wearing a mask. Good night, fellas!
Over: 10 | Summary: 6 0 6 4 W 3 Bowler: Dewpura Tinusha Score: 124/8
9.6 Tinusha Shehanka to Indika Senn, full ball outside off, Senn jams that out towards deep extra cover for a single. The batsmen take off for the second and a slight fumble by the fielder allows them to do so comfortably! The throw bounces on the pitch and goes over the keeper's head, who is bamboozled and is unable to collect that. The batsmen return for the third!
With 3 runs required off the final delivery, Mark Jayasinghe walks out to the middle
9.5 Tinusha Shehanka to Denham Seneviratne, OUT! CAUGHT! Full ball outside off, the batsman smacks that powerfully down the ground. The fielder at long on takes an absolute blinder as he lobs it in the air and then completes it on the second attempt!
9.4 Tinusha Shehanka to Denham Seneviratne, FOUR! SHOT! Full toss on the middle stump angling in, easy pickings for the batsman who walks across, picks his spot and sweeps that towards square leg for a boundary! FIFTY up for Denham Seneviratne. 3 runs required in 2 balls! Surely, Roma Cricket Club cannot once again muggle this chase up!
9.3 Tinusha Shehanka to Denham Seneviratne, SIX! BOOM! Full ball on the off stump, the batsman walks across, gets into position and launches that over the mid-wicket region for a huge maximum! 7 required in 3 balls!
9.2 Tinusha Shehanka to Denham Seneviratne, no run, length ball outside off, the batsman swings across the line but fails to get any bat on it. Any sort of contact and the ball would have traveled a million miles! 13 required off 4 deliveries!
9.1 Tinusha Shehanka to Denham Seneviratne, SIX! BANG! Length ball on the off stump angling in, Seneviratne plants his front foot across and whips that over the square leg region for a maximum! 13 required off 5 deliveries. Denham is keeping this contest alive!
19 runs required off final 6 deliveries. Denham will be on strike and Tinusha Shehanka will bowl the final over

Anik Ahmed bowling an excellent penultimate over by only conceding 6 runs and Rome Bangla will be thinking that they have the game in their bag. Roma CC, however, will fancy their chances of scoring 19 in the final. It has been done before and there is no reason as to why it cannot be done again. The game is afoot!

8.1 Anik Ahmed to Indika Senn, no run, length ball on the middle stump, Senn pushes that back to the bowler quite watchfully. Dots will only pile on the pressure. Indika needs to rotate the strike and bring Denham on strike

Skipper Anik Ahmed [1-0-8-0] to bowl the penultimate over
