Roma Cricket Club beat Royal Roma by 11 runs

While Roma Cricket Club's first innings was scratchy and lacked any real sense of momentum,  the Royal Roma chase took it several notches below as the batsmen never looked bothered to stay close to the asking run rate. Both openers Muneeb Niazi and Bejawada Phanindra fell to nothing deliveries within the powerplay overs and the pressure was immediately transferred to the fragile middle order.

Nur Mohammod, the usual destructor-in-chief for Royal Roma gobbled up 15 deliveries and could only manage 17 runs which put a severe dent in the chances of his team reaching anywhere near the total and challenge for the victory. Anil Kumar, who stood out with his bowling performance could not bring a similar intensity to his batting as fell after making a painstakingly 9 ball 9 runs inning.

However, it was Vajrala Reddy and Hassan Mubashar down the order who showed some grit and spunk to take on the Roma CC bowlers. The former blasted a 13 ball 25 runs inning laced with 2 humongous maximums and a solitary boundary whereas the latter only dealt in sixes -- smoking five 'half-a-dozens'.

But the late flourish came an over too late as the RCC bowlers managed to keep the target away from the reach of Royals as they ultimately fell short by an agonizing margin of 11 runs. The elusive first victory still evades the Royal Roma team and the wait only lingers on to the third day of the tournament.

Anyway, that's it from the Sportskeeda team. This is Abhinav Singh and  Maanas Uppadhyay  signing off. Until next time, stay safe, stay indoors and keep wearing a mask when outside. Good Night fellas. See you all tomorrow.
Over: 10 | Summary: 1 1 W 6 6 0 Bowler: Pruthuvi Samarage Score: 100/5

Final delivery coming up!
9.5 Pruthuvi Samarage to Hassan Mubashar, SIX MORE! Length ball on the off stump, the batsman rocks back and sends that packing over the deep mid-wicket region as he collects six more runs! 12 runs required off the final delivery. Umar Shahzad walks out to the middle to face the final 3 deliveries
9.3 Pruthuvi Samarage to Vajrala Reddy, OUT! CAUGHT! Length ball outside off, teasingly tossed up. Reddy's eyes light up as he goes for the big shot. Cannot get it off the meat of the bat and the fielder patrolling the long off fielder takes a comfortable catch! 24 required in 3 deliveries
9.2 Pruthuvi Samarage to Hassan Mubashar, DROPPED! Length ball on the off stump spinning away, the batsman pulls that powerfully towards deep mid-wicket, where the fielder spills it. Its all happening here! 24 required in 4 deliveries! 4 SIXES, here we go!
9.1 Pruthuvi Samarage to Vajrala Reddy, what an amazing piece of fielding there! Length ball outside off, Reddy clobbers that downtown. The fielder at long off runs around, leaps in the air and taps it back in the field. Saves 5 valuable runs! Give that man the MoM already! OH MY!
Pruthuvi Samarage [1-0-6-2] to bowl the final six deliveries

Thakshila Korale who went for only three runs in his first over was given some treatment in the penultimate over as the Royal Roma batsmen collected 16 runs of his medium pace. However, with 26 required in the final 6, have the Royal Roma batsmen teed off a tad too late?
Over: 9 | Summary: 6 1 0 2 1 6 Bowler: Thakshila Korale Score: 86/4
8.6 Thakshila Korale to Hassan Mubashar, SIX! CLUBBED! Length ball on the off stump, Mubashar rocks back and absolutely muscles that over the mid-wicket region for a huge maximum! The biggest one of the night so far!
8.5 Thakshila Korale to Vajrala Reddy, length ball on the middle stump, Reddy jogs down and pulls that towards deep mid-wicket for a single.
8.4 Thakshila Korale to Vajrala Reddy, skiddy length ball on the body, the batsman shuffles across and pulls that towards long leg for a couple of runs.
8.3 Thakshila Korale to Vajrala Reddy, no run, skiddy length ball outside off, the batsman swings across the line but does not connect. 35 required in 9 deliveries
8.2 Thakshila Korale to Hassan Mubashar, length ball on the middle stump, dragged towards deep backward square leg for a single. Singles won't do for Royal Roma. 35 required in 10 balls
8.1 Thakshila Korale to Hassan Mubashar, SIX! BANG! Short ball outside off, plenty of width on offer for Mubashar, who stands tall and spanks that back over the bowler's head for a maximum! Dealt with utmost disdain, but is it too little too late?
Thakshila Korale [1-0-3-0] to bowl the penultimate over

Dammika bowling an excellent over under pressure after Marage got the stick in the previous over. The asking run rate has crept up to 20 now and Royal Roma are making it difficult for themselves. Only a blinder of an innings can change the complexion of this game which otherwise looks Roma Cricket Club's to lose
Over: 8 | Summary: 1 0 1 1 2 1 Bowler: Danmika Aththanayaka Score: 70/4
