Right then. That's all from myself and Shashwat. There's another high-octane contest coming up at Sharjah this evening. Switch tabs to catch all the live updates from that one. See you around!
Temba Bavuma (South Africa captain): Much better than the first game. We knew we had some areas to improve in. Batting and bowling were brilliant, so yeah, a good day for us. The conversations we have on the field are short and clear. The information the pacers pass on is good to see as well. We were watching that game [England vs West Indies]. We weren't sure how the wickets were going to react. Good to see Aiden do well. Those are the type of performances we want to see with the bat. Aiden has been hitting the ball well in the nets. When the news hit us, it was hard for the team. Losing a guy like Quinny was tough. At the end of the day, we have to play cricket for our country and win some games.
Kieron Pollard (West Indies captain): We haven't scored enough runs. The batters haven't come to the party so far, it was disappointing again today. I thought the first six overs were decent, 43 for 0, we would have taken that. We lost the momentum in the middle overs and we weren't able to finish it off. [on Simmons] He got stuck in the middle. We wanted a couple of overs and not lose any wickets. Having said that, we aren't going to point fingers. If you look at their innings, Rassie had similar innings and ended up on the winning side. Before we think about the run rate, our main aim will be to get wins under our belt. It was a good effort in the field tonight but the batting has been disappointing.
Anrich Nortje: (Experience in the IPL) 100%. It has helped me quite a lot. It has also allowed me to give information to my teammates. Just having the confidence of knowing the conditions is good. It was a good wicket actually. It was similar to the IPL, in terms of the variations and nice knowing what to do and when to do it. (On Rabada) Always nice working with him. His ideas, his knowledge of the game is great. It is really nice to have him around. We were quite happy with what happened in the game against Australia. Hopefully, we can build on this. We are not close to the perfect game but we hope we can slowly build towards it and keep improving every day.
South Africa won by 8 wickets (with 10 balls remaining).

West Indies will be disappointed with how their campaign is turning out. The drubbing they received from England was an abysmal performance but they've not been able to bounce back in a significant fashion. A target of 144 always felt significantly short of the par score after the start provided by Evin Lewis. Questions will be asked of the approach adopted by Simmons, which is the 20-runs at the very least they missed out on.

There's plenty of mutual respect between the two dugouts. Plenty of chats everywhere, perhaps about the events that have transpired before the game. South Africa were strong with their mental fortitude and have triumphed over the defending champions. Reeza Hendricks showed his class at the top of the order, while Markram, who for some reason is slotted in the middle order, showed what he's all about as well.

Plenty of head-scratching for the West Indians. Two defeats from their two games and will have a mountain to climb if they want to continue on their quest for their third title. The bowling lacked any penetration up front which will be a cause of concern. Meanwhile, South Africa will be pleased to come back in such a comprehensive fashion after their defeat against Australia. The pacers continue to make their mark and lead their side, while the form of the batters will be a huge plus today.

Plenty of talking points for both sides today. Stay tuned for the presentations.
That will be that then. On a day that's been a rollercoaster for the South Africans, their side has toppled the defending champions and bounced back with an important win. Aiden Markram led the way with the fastest half-century of the tournament so far.
18.2 Andre Russell to Aiden Markram, THAT WILL BE THAT! Banged into the track on middle and off stump. Markram gets on top of the bounce and swings it away towards deep mid wicket for a single to seal the deal and consign the defending champions to their second successive defeat!
Fifty for Aiden Markram! It's a knock of the highest caliber.
18.1 Andre Russell to Aiden Markram, SIX! SCORES LEVEL! Back of a length delivery on off stump. Markram clears his front leg and smashes that one over wide long on for a maximum!
Right then. Two overs to go, 7 to get. If you're a South African fan, you're counting on these two batters to finish this one off in the penultimate over. Funny things have happened in this game, but this one would take something extraordinary from South Africa to throw it away from here on.

17.6 Dwayne Bravo to Aiden Markram, yorker on leg stump. Markram gets his front foot out of the way and clips it off his toes towards deep mid wicket for one more run
17.5 Dwayne Bravo to Rassie van der Dussen, yorker on middle and off stump. Rassie comes forward and jams the ball down the ground towards long on for another single
17.4 Dwayne Bravo to Rassie van der Dussen, length delivery angled across the batter outside off stump. Rassie throws the kitchen sink at it but misses. The keeper does well to gather!
Down to single digits now.
17.3 Dwayne Bravo to Aiden Markram, slower yorker on middle and leg stump. Markram gives himself a bit of room and powers it towards deep extra cover for one more run
17.2 Dwayne Bravo to Rassie van der Dussen, slower delivery on a back of a length on leg stump. Rassie backs away and punches the ball towards deep cover point for one
17.1 Dwayne Bravo to Rassie van der Dussen, yorker outside off stump. Rassie jams his bat down in time and digs the ball out into the off side towards mid off. The batters hesitate a little but no damage done
The defending champions starting down the barrel now. Markram and South Africa will be in a hurry to finish this off now. Even a small margin in the improvement of the net run rate could go a long way towards the end of the group stages.
