ATK vs KER Match Result -
0 - 2
Kerala Blasters
77' M. Poplatnik
86' S. Stojanović
The ISL action rolls on to Bengaluru and the Sree Kanteerava Stadium tomorrow, with a rematch of last year's final between Bengaluru FC and Chennaiyin FC. Join us for that game, as it promises to be a cracker. Until then, this is me, Aaditya Narayan, signing off. It's been a pleasure bringing this coverage to you. Kerala fans, your team has earned you your drinks for tonight. So, party on into the night!
90+4' PEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPP!! FULL TIME! Kerala Blasters are off to a winning start.

This is a hugely deserved win for Kerala, who have been much the better side throughout the game. They were confident in possession, they went forward when they had to, and created opportunities aplenty. The goal took a while to come, and after several misses previously, Matej Poplatnik gave Kerala the lead.

Slavisa Stojanovic doubled that lead with a peach of a strike to round off a brilliant night for Kerala, as they won for the first time at the Salt Lake Stadium. As good as Kerala were, it will be unfair if we don't look at how abysmal ATK were. They could not string two passes together for the large part of the game. Lots of work to do for Steve Coppell and his troops.

Full Time: ATK 0-2 Kerala Blasters
90+4' ATK still cannot get a touch. When they do get the ball,. they promptly give it away easily. Lanza's latest cross is easily claimed by Dheeraj.
90+2' ATK cannot get a touch of the ball. This has been a fabulous performance from the Blasters.
90+1' The board goes up to signal 4 additional minutes at the end of the second half.
90' Kerala are having fun. Pekuson has unleashed a volley from the halfway line. It has gone nowhere near Arindam's goal though.
89' Kerala make their final change, as Poplatnik, who's been Man of the Match, goes off.

ON - Keziron Kizito
OFF - Matej Poplatnik
88' Chance for Lyngdoh, brilliant block by Jhingan! The ball is played into Lyngdoh on the edge of the box by Everton, but his shot, which was heading towards goal, is blocked by Jhingan and out for a corner. The corner comes to nothing, as Johnson's header is easily caught by Dheeraj.
86' GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL! Slavisa Stojanovic has wrapped things up! WHAT A FINISH!

Pekuson plays in Stojanovic on his left foot. The striker turns Gerson, gets it onto his right-foot and curls one straight into the far corner. Arindam has no chance!
84' Just as I say that, he unleashes a swerving effort low towards Arindam's right, but the goalkeeper is sharp enough to get down and reach it. Khongjee reaches it to clean up the scraps but he's dwelt on it for too long and has it stolen away by Poplatnik, who tries to cut it back to Pekuson again. But Lyngdoh is there to intercept.
83' It was a questionable decision to bring Pekuson on for Samad at half-time, but it has been a perfectly justified decision. He's added much-needed drive from midfield for the Blasters.
83' Lakic-Pesic misses another header! Kerala had a corner, which is again hit towards the far-post. The big Serb gets a clean contact on it, but misses the target
82' It feels like it's been an eternity since ATK had any meaningful possession. Kerala have kept it magnificently thus far.
80' Kerala have reacted brilliantly to scoring that goal. They have not sat back, and they are controlling possession. ATK are not able to get a touch of the ball.
78' In the space of three minutes, Steve Coppell has made all three changes, as Cavin Lobo comes on.

ON - Cavin Lobo
OFF - Jayesh Rane

78' Now ATK need to find something extra to rescue this. They have been rather abysmal thus far.
77' GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! It had to be him, didn't it? Matej Poplatnik scores the first goal of ISL 2018-19

Pekuson does brilliantly in central midfield to wriggle past Halder. He lays it off to Stojanovic, whose shot is blocked by Gerson, but it has bobbled up to Poplatnik who makes no mistake in slotting a comfortable header past Arindam. Kerala deserve this lead, they have been much the better side.
75' You'd think Lanza will now play behind Uche, with Everton and Balwant on the flanks, allowing Lyngdoh to sit deep with Pronay Halder
75' ATK make another switch as Lyngdoh comes on.

ON - Eugeneson Lyngdoh
OFF - Balwant Singh
75' First change of the night for ATK

ON - Kalu Uche
OFF - Noussair El Maimouni
74' El Maimouni is dogged against Stojanovic and wins it in midfield. He looks to play the early ball to Everton, who peeled out to the left, but guess what he does? Yes, he found a yellow shirt.
73' STOP THE PRESS! ATK have held on to possession of the ball for a whole minute! Eventually, the moves breaks down and it comes to nothing.
71' Kerala make their second change

ON - CK Vineeth
OFF - Len Doungel
71 The corner comes to nothing, as Lakic-Pesic is eventually found offside.
70' Another big Kerala chance, another Poplatnik shot that doesn't go into the goal. Fantastic play from Narzary who crosses to Len. He lays it off to Poplatnik, who hits his volley straight at Gerson, who blocks again. Corner for Kerala.
69' OOOOHHHH JHINGAN! Beautiful free-kick floated in to the far-post, Jhingan busts a lung to get his head to the ball, and out-leaps Khongjee, but he puts his header well over the bar.
69' David James has just had a chat with CK Vineeth. Blasters could do with a hero now, and he's been one for them on multiple occasions before. On the pitch, Kerala have another free-kick that Poplatnik will take.
68' Rakip plays a brilliant one-two with Len, and then skins Sena Ralte as well. His low cross is brilliantly cleared away by a stretching Gerson
67' Poplatnik takes, and it is met by an ATK head, only to fall to Pekuson on the edge of the area. He drops the shoulder, creates a yard for himself on his left foot, and his shoot is dragged wide of Arindam's near-post.
66' Free kick for Kerala, as Halder fouls Narzary
65' Can someone put on a passing clinic at this game, please? Mid-game? I thought the point of football was to pass the ball to a man wearing the same colour of shirt as you. For at least a minute there, all that was done by both teams was to give the ball away to an opponent.
63' Krcmarevic is on the floor, receiving treatment. He was caught by Jayesh, in a part of the body where the sun doesn't shine
62' Brilliant tracking back from Len here, he wins the ball back brilliantly, as Sena Ralte was just about set to hit his cross. Kerala then spring forward through Rakip, and he hits it from a distance and it sails harmlessly wide. Stojanovic lets the young full-back know there were better options around him.
61' Beautiful through ball from Jayesh Rane, but it a little too overhit. Lanza cannot keep that in. If he had, there would've been a big chance for ATK.
58' Johnson and Stojanovic in a tussle for the ball. The big striker is all arms, but the centre-back does not flinch. There's been no getting past the Englishman today.
57' Great play from ATK in and around their box. Lanza and Jayesh Rane conspire to create an opening. The ball goes out wide to Balwant, who plays it back to Pronay. The ball is then laid off to El Maimouni whose shot in comfortably collected on the bounce by Dheeraj.
54' The Kerala captain has a problem. The physio is on the pitch as Sandesh Jhingan receives treatment. With Anas out for two more games, Kerala cannot afford to lose their captain. He does look fine though, as he walks off the pitch, having received treatment.
54' More neat play from ATK, this time Balwant and Khongjee combine on the right flank. The full-back gets to the by-line, but his cross is too close to Dheeraj, who has a comfortable catch.
53' Johnson and Gerson Viera look very comfortable at the back, and have been ATK's best players so far. They need more from those in front of them to get the three points today though.
51' Len Doungel isn't having a happy start to the second half. Len is one-on-one with Ralte on the right wing, and when he's got options in the box, he floats his cross too deep and behind for a goal-kick.
50' This is something I thought I'd never type, magnificent interception from Lanzarote! Kerala break forward in numbers, and Stojanovic looks to release Len on the right flank. But Lanzarote has put the legs in to get back to the left-back position, and makes a vital interception. The captain leading from the front for ATK. But they need him on the other end of the pitch.
48' UFFF LANZA! He's 30-yards out, and manages to get the ball on to that feared left-foot of his. He's unleashed a shot at Dheeraj's goal, and it's dipping venomously but not enough to hit the target. Much better from ATK at the start of the second period.
48' Once again, LEN SHOULD SCORE BUT DOESN'T! Sena Ralte gives it away too easily, and Len is in acres of space on the right flank. His shot though, is meek. The ball has rolled so slowly to Arindam, he could have a cup of tea, go for a stroll, and then wait for it to come to him.
47' It took 45 minutes of the first half for me to mention Krcmarevic. It's taken two in the second. He intercepts a pass from Johnson, and is smashed to the ground by Jayesh.
46' ATK are on the attack straight away. Jayesh and Sena Ralte combine well, and the full-back is in a crossing position, but Rakip stands his ground and it comes to nothing for ATK.
46' PEEEEPPPP!!! Off we go again at the Salt Lake, as ATK get us underway through Everton Santos
We've got a half-time substitution, as Courage Pekuson replaces Sahal Abdul Samad. That is surprising, the youngster played really well for Kerala in the first half.
Remember, the two games between these two sides last year were both draws. 2-2 at Kolkata, and 0-0 in Kochi. ATK have 21 draws in ISL history, the most.
45+1' PEEEEPPP! That's half-time, and it's goalless

Matej Poplatnik could've had a hat-trick so far, but he has nothing to show for his efforts so far. Kerala have been much the better side, with Lalruatthara and Narzary in particular causing Khongjee all kinds of problems. But ATK had the best chance of the half, as Jayesh Rane missed a header with an open goal gaping in front of him.

Join us in about 10 minutes for the second half, as the Blasters will look to score against an ATK side that has looked bereft of inspiration.

HT: ATK 0-0 Kerala Blasters
45+1' Kerala have kept the ball in their own half, but the ball forward is easily intercepted by Sena Ralte.
45' We've got a minute to be added at the end of the first half here.
45' The camera has just panned to Abhishek Bachchan, who could not give a more disinterested, boring expression if he tried his best.
44' Poplatnik takes the corner. It finds Len at the far-post. His header is once again catching practice for Arindam.
43' Another Blasters cross, this time from Krcmarevic. Another header from Poplatnik. It hits Khongjee this time, and it's a Kerala corner.
42' I'm bored of this Poplatnik thing now. Once again, a brilliant run in behind. Once again, he's found beautifully with an aerial balls. Once again, he fluffs the finish. He tried to loop a first-time header over Arindam, but that is catching practice for the 'keeper.
41' A Blasters free-kick on the halfway line. Jhingan has smacked that straight for an ATK goal-kick. He took that free-kick with his left foot. Why would you unnecessarily want to put pressure on yourself by using your wrong foot to hit a dead ball?
39' HOW ON EARTH HAS JAYESH RANE MISSED THAT? An ATK corner is flighted in brilliantly from the left, Dheeraj came to catch it, but he gets underneath it, and Jayesh with an empty net gaping in front of him, heads it wide. In another sport, a certain Englishman would've called that "roobish"
38' Wally Downes and Steve Coppell are tearing into their team here. The virus has swept the whole team and everybody is giving the ball way unnecessarily at their own whim.
37' Brilliance from Halder! He gets the ball in midfield and plays a beautiful give-and-go with Balwant, before shooting straight at Dheeraj, who does fumble the shot, but he mops it up and claims it.
36' Crucial intervention from Lalruatthara. Jayesh tricks his way past Samad and plays it high towards Balwant, but the full-back is there to clear.
34' More joy for Narzary down the left flank. He teases Khongjee and gets into a superb crossing position. But in the end, in true Holicharan style, he shanks his cross.
34' Once again, a Kerala corner goes to waste, as Arindam comes out and gets his fist to the ball
33' SAMAD AGAIN! Poplatnik sets up Samad, he moves his feet brilliantly, and gets a superb shot towards Arindam's goal. it was on target and the goalkeeper has to push it out for a corner.
31' The Blasters have given their fans plenty to be excited about thus far. What they cannot be excited about is how Poplatnik has played so far. It has been dire from the Slovenian, to say the very least.
31' Another purposeful stride forward from Samad this time. He looks to put the cross in from the right, but it has skewed past Arindam's near post. The youngster's hand is up in apology.
30' Poplatnik's corner this time is dire. The Slovenian has had a half to forget thus far.
29' Samad with a shot, after more good work on the left flank from Lalruatthara. Johnson puts his body on the line again. We're going to be saying that plenty of times this season.
28' Much better from ATK, who are growing into this game. Sena Ralte charges forward on ATK's left and gets it in a very good crossing position. His cross is hit towards where there is nobody. There was one ATK player in the box, which is not enough.
26' What a strike from Everton! He receives the ball 30 yards off goal, and runs towards Dheeraj's goal before unleashing a fierce strike towards goal. As Paul Masefield has said multiple times in different situations thus far, "That was not a million miles away"
25' Can ATK stop giving the ball away cheaply here? It's been too easy for Kerala, and from a neutral's perspective, you'd want to see more pace injected into this game.
23' POPLATNIK FLUFFS HIS LINES AGAIN! Fabulous ball over the top from Jhingan, and Poplatnik got in behind Johnson. He fluffs his touch when a good first touch would have put him straight through up against Arindam
22' Remember, it took four games for Steve Coppell's Jamshedpur FC to get their first ISL goal of last season. If the same happens with the attacking wealth ATK have, questions have to be asked.
21' Pretty early contender in this season for the worst ever free-kick. Poplatnik places the ball down in midfield and plays it to the left. But there is no Kerala player in a 20-yard radius around where the ball went out.
21' Yellow card for El Maimouni. He gave the ball away in midfield, and then hauled Poplatnik back in midfield.
20' ATK's assistant coach Wally Downes is absolutely furious on the touchline. He seems to be targetting Jayesh and Balwant, and it's justified. They've given the ball away too much and unnecessarily.
19' Another big chance for Kerala! Len has got to score. Narzary finds space on the left wing again, and his cross is perfect, Len arrives late, and his header is a whole bunch of tear-worthy nonsense
18' Clear plan from Kerala to overload on the left wing and target Aiborlang Khongjee and Balwant's reluctance to track back. It's worked a treat for them so far.
16' In the opening quarter of an hour, there is little doubt who the better side has been here. ATK might consider themselves lucky not to be a goal down. But their centre-backs have made multiple goal-saving contributions already, which is what has still kept them level.
16' Dheeraj is growing into this game now. A long ball forward from ATK, the young man races off his line and he gets plenty on his clearance.
15' OOOHHHHHH! Lanzarote's corner is headed straight into the net. Dheeraj is sprawling back, and he gets something on it. That's a let-off for the Blasters there.
15' Corner for ATK now, as Balwant gets to by-line on the right wing, Lakic-Pesic skews it behind
14' Kerala give the ball away too easily in midfield, and it falls to Santos again. He tries to smash one from 30 yards out, but it is scuffed, wide and pathetic.
13' Decent spell in possession in midfield for ATK, and they try to release Everton Santos, Dheeraj comes out and claims easily.
12' CLEARED OFF THE LINE! Magnificent delivery from Poplatnik, straight onto the head of Lakic-Pesic, his header is perfect and heading for the far top corner, where ATK's man on the post is happy to get a head onto it.
11' A corner for the Blasters, after more joy for them down their left flank. Poplatnik will take.
10' Johnson is in his element here. Regular watchers of Indian football should not be surprised. He looks serene in possession, his positional sense is perfect, and like the Johnson we've grown to know, he's not stopped screaming at everyone around him. The ATK midfield needs their big man to tell them off. Halder and El Maimouni are treating the football like a ball of fire at this point.
9' ANOTHER CHANCE FOR POPLATNIK! ANOTHER ATK BLOCK! Lalruatthara with an absolutely fabulous burst down the left flank. His low cross falls to Poplatnik, whose fierce low drive is well blocked by Gerson Viera. The ATK centre-backs with big contributions already
7' The Blasters are looking very comfortable in possession. My man Nived is being proved right in the opening exchanges. Samad looks a very neat little player in midfield, and is running proceedings
6' More Kerala chances here, the team in yellow have started brilliantly! Poplatnik makes a brilliant run, and is found by a ball over the top. He gets a shot away on his right foot, and Johnson steps in with a giant block. It fell to Narzary whose shot was blocked by Johnson again. The big man doing in 5 minutes what he's done for 5 years in Bengaluru
4' OHHHH WHAT A CHANCE FOR KERALA! Narzary pressurises Balwant deep in ATK's own half, and the striker's clearance fell to straight to Lalruathhara who put in a beautiful cross into the box. Poplatnik, with all the space to himself puts his header wide. Should have scored.
3' Rakip looks a little nervous up against Jayesh today. He's tried to let a long pass run out for a goal kick, but Rane's pressure means he has to clear the ball for an ATK throw-in
2' Opportunity for ATK to break, as some neat passing in midfield gets Jayesh Rane away on the left wing. He gets past Rakip easily. But plays a horrible pass towards Everton, and Jhingan can intercept easily.
1' The Blasters look to spring forward quickly, but Samad's early ball towards Len is easily cut down by Sena Ralte
1' PEEEEEEEPPPP!! Off we go, as Slavisa Stojanovic gets the Blasters and us underway for the season.
The toss is done, ceremonial photographs taken, players all lined up. We're ready to go in Kolkata as ATK take on the Kerala Blasters to open ISL 2018-19. Let's Football!
It's a big show of faith in Dheeraj today, from Kerala. And it's even bigger a display of faith in giving him the no.1 jersey for the season.
Singer Usha Uthup leads the rendition of the national anthem in Kolkata today
There's a few Bengaluru FC fans who've just looked away from the screen as the camera panned to a man they loved so much - John Johnson
The two sides are in the tunnels. The skippers Lanzarote and Jhingan in front of the queues as the sides make their way out to the hallowed turf of the Salt Lake.
Abhishek Bachchan, the owner of Chennaiyin FC, delivers the ISL's oath of fair play
The comforting voice of John Helm is upon us on the official broadcast.
Another interesting quip today, with David James starting with only four foreigners in the XI. Huge show of faith in young Samad, starting him ahead of foreigners like Pekuson and Kizito.
For some reason, Star Sports's pre-game show has the Indian cricket team thanking the Indian Army for all their sacrifices. This is a football tournament we're witnessing the start of, right?
"Fan Banna Padega", yells Mrs. Ambani, as Indian athletics sensation Hima Das walks out on to the field to present the matchball to her. "Come on India, let's football", remains the mantra of the ISL.
Mrs. Ambani goes on to talk about how the ISL has given rise to new hope in Indian football. Credits the league for the rise of new Indian talent.
As with any ISL, the chairperson of the league, Nita Ambani is walking out on to the field at the Salt Lake Stadium, to join the owners of ATK, Kerala Blasters and Chennaiyin FC. She's also greeted the crowd in Bengali, to a roar from a barely-filled Salt Lake.
Watch out for Sahal Abdul Samad in the Kerala midfield. Our Kerala reporter Nived Zenith tells me that he's a fabulous talent, who has burst into David James's plans on the back of some fabulous performances for the Blasters's reserve team.
Both teams have immense firepower to bring on from the bench. Pekuson, Kizito and Vineeth for Kerala. Lyngdoh, Hitesh and Uche for ATK.
David James, last season, showed a liking for local boy Prasanth Karuthadathkuni. He has shelved that idea for now, with more experienced players in Narzary and Len Doungel starting in the wide areas to support the big Stojanovic up top.
That is a young team for Kerala, whose Indian players are going to have to punch above their weight today, against what is an ATK team filled with seasoned campaigners all over the pitch.
Surprises aplenty already in the lineups, as expected on opening day of a season. CK Vineeth sits out for Kerala. Eugeneson Lyngdoh sits out for ATK.

Arindam Bhattacharja, Aiborlang Khongjee, John Johnson, Gerson Viera, Sena Ralte, Noussair El Maimouni, Pronay Halder, Manuel Lanzarote, Balwant Singh, Jayesh Rane, Everton Santos

Substitutes: Debjit Majumder, Ricky Lallawmawma, Soraisham Sandeep Singh, Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Hitesh Sharma, Cavin Lobo, Kalu Uche

Kerala Blasters:
Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem, Mohammad Rakip, Sandesh Jhingan, Nemanja Lakic-Pesic, Lalruatthara, Nikola Krcmarevic, Sahal Abdul Samad, Holicharan Narzary, Seiminlen Doungel, Matej Poplatnik, Slavisa Stojanovic

Substitutes: Naveen Kumar, Pritam Kumar Singh, Courage Pekuson, Keziron Kizito, Suraj Rawat, CK Vineeth, Zakeer Mundampara
Kolkata and Bengaluru have had their fair share of footballing rivalries over the last few years. Tonight, two Bengaluru favourite sons will line up for Kolkata. What does this ISL hold for Eugeneson Lyngdoh on his comeback from injury? What does it hold for John Johnson?
Team news will be upon us in 25 minutes. Will we see an ISL debut for young Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem tonight? The India U-17 Goalkeeper hugely impressed at the FIFA U-17 World Cup last year, and post a training stint with Motherwell, this is a perfect opportunity for him.
We're 90 minutes away from kick off for ISL 2018-19. The Salt Lake Stadium is ready, Kerala Blasters are ready, the hosts ATK are ready. I, Aaditya Narayan, am ready to bring you all the action from what is affectionately, maybe cringeworthily, called the ISL's El Clasico. Get in touch with me on Twitter @Aaditya_LFC to tell us what you think. Are you bleeding yellow tonight or red and white?

ATK v Kerala Blasters | PREVIEW

It's back! The fifth edition of the Indian Super League is upon us, and we get started this evening, at the spiritual home of Indian Football - the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata, where ATK will host Kerala Blasters.

Both sides have undergone wholesale changes in the off-season, with the two-time champions appointing Englishman Steve Coppell as their new manager. ATK also have several exciting additions to their squad, in the form of English centre-back John Johnson, Spanish midfielder Manuel Lanzarote and the Nigerian striker Kalu Uche.

ATK are also bolstered by the return to fitness of Eugeneson Lyngdoh, who was laid down by injuries the last term. Balwant Singh adds some much-needed firepower to their attack as well.

For the Blasters, a change in policy has been evident. They've moved away from the policy of signing marquee players and have made shrewd additions to the squad, especially in the form of goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem and centre-back Anas Edathodika.

These two sides have met in two finals before, with ATK emerging victorious on both occasions. After a disastrous last season, both sides will be out looking to make amends, and as they say, you start as you mean to go on.

ATK Probable XI: Debjit Majumder, Prabir Das, John Johnson, Andre Bikey, Gerson Viera, Sena Ralte, Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Pronay Halder, Manuel Lanzarote, Kalu Uche, Balwant Singh
