Lionel Messi, you beauty.

The La Liga title race is back on, and it is all thanks to Barcelona's talisman. The Argentine scored one of the scrappiest goals he has ever scored in the 86th minute, after Rafinha and Godin had scored earlier, but Messi's goal could prove to be one of the most crucial he has ever scored.

Barcelona go top of La Liga with 54 points, with Real Madrid still to play Villarreal tonight. Atletico Madrid are firmly out of the title race, with 45 points so far.

49' OH MY GOD HOW DID HE MISS THAT! Superb work from Neymar and Messi, who lays the ball off first time to Suarez running clear on the left side of the box. 9 times out of 10 he buries that, and Suarez opens his body up to shoot, but screws his shot wide with the goal at his mercy!

...
The teams are back out - kickoff is moments away!
...
Minutes to go before the second half starts now - no one can predict how it'll go, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have shared spells of dominance that could have easily paid off. Let's hope the second half is similar.

Well, not too similar, I'd like some goals, please.
...
A great first half then, as Atletico dominated the opening stages and ought to have opened the scoring, with Carrasco and Griezmann going close. Barcelona gradually managed to get back into the game with Messi and Pique forcing Oblak into some great saves at the end of the half.

It's been fairly evenly matched so far, and we can expect much of the same in the second half.
