Barcelona have recorded a comprehensive victory at the end, but it was anything but routine. The game started slowly before Neymar gave the hosts the lead with a poked finish in the 21st minute. Bakambu equalised for the away side after successfully beating the offside trap before Messi's deflected effort left Andres rooted on the spot as it crept into the far post to make it 2-1 just before the stroke of half-time.
Villarreal were still in the game till that time, before Suarez also joined the party and scored from a shot across goal into the far corner.

However, the highlight of the night has to be Neymar's OUTRAGEOUS flick over his marker in the build-up to the 4th, which was Panenka'd by Messi to score his 51st goal of the season.
Barcelona have capitalized on their chances and have put the pressure on Real Madrid, who kick off in a while. For now, Barcelona are 3 points clear at the top and they will be rooting for a Real Madrid slip-up.

Neymar has the ball on the left hand side, he has nowhere to go, so he lifts the ball over his marker WITH AN OUTRAGEOUS SKILL and runs past him, he clips the ball towards the other end and Suarez is there to bring it down and take a shot, the ball hits Jaume Costa on the hands and despite minimal appeal from the Barcelona players, the referee points to the spot. Costa was livid with the referee for his decision and is BOOKED for handling the ball.
Messi stepped up and calmly chipped the ball into the back of the net, with the goalkeeper diving to his right. That was his 51st goal of the season.

The intensity of the game had dropped down in the last 10 minutes but Barcelona have hit Villarreal on the counter here. Sergi Roberto burst down the middle, hitting the away side on the counter, he lays the ball off for Suarez down the right, the former Liverpool man feints a cutback before taking another touch and slotting the ball across the goal and into the far corner.

...
58' MESSI has a venomous right-footed half-volley tipped over by Andres. Neymar picks out Messi just inside the opposition box and the Argentine connects with the shot with his RIGHT and it is going to bulge the back of the net but Andres tips it over.
...
57' Neymar goes on a jinking run down the right, he gets the better of his marker with a slight drop of the shoulder, then he gets away from another with some skills but finally, he is unable to find a teammate in the middle.
...
55' Villarreal win a corner but they make a mess of it and Barcelona work their way up the pitch. Messi chips a ball into the path of Neymar down the right, who crosses/shoots across the face of goal and the ball goes out.
...
52' Digne tests Andres with a shot from a narrow angle, and the goalkeeper is forced to parry it, only as far as the cross bar. The Yellow Submarine, hold on, for now!
...
51' Neymar bursts down the left once again, and is unable to find a teammate once again.
The more I watch Barcelona play, the more I realize, Barcelona struggle when Neymar is given the job to be the primary creator, the Brazilian is guilty of trying too much and this hampers Barcelona more often than not.
...
49' Soriano and Costa link down the left but a poor pass allows Barcelona to recover the ball.
...
46' Almost a chance fro Barcelona from kickoff. Neymar burst down the right before cutting in, he tries to slide the ball into the path of Messi but the goalkeeper gets down to cut it.
...
46' PEEP! And we are underway in the second half.
...
The players are out on the pitch and we are ready for the restart.
...
After a dull start, this game has just burst into life. Neymar opened the scoring latching onto a Messi pass, which deflected off a defender. Villarreal pulled one back after Bakambu beat the offside trap expertly.
The last 5 minutes were end to end, with both sides creating gilt-edged chances before Messi stepped up to the occasion and fired one past Andres to give the home side the lead going into break. The Argentine was quite for the first 40 minutes but proved decisive when his team needed it.

Can Villarreal bounce back from this? We will have to wait and watch!
