FT: Belgium 0-2 Spain

A poor start from Roberto Martinez and Thierry Henry as Belgium's managerial top two, although Julen Lopetegui saw a return to tiki taka that resulted in a calm and professional victory.

David Silva gave the visitors the lead with a calm finish in the first half, after Alvaro Morata went off with a hamstring injury to be replaced by Diego Costa, who changed the game after coming on.

Jordan Lukaka foolishly gave away a cheap penalty with a trip on Vitolo, allowing David Silva to score a confident penalty and ending all of Belgium's hopes.

...

90' 1 minute of added time.

...

89' This has gotten very boring. I wouldn't blame you if you left. Actually I would, #nomanleftbehind

...

87' Defour comes on for De Bruyne

...

86' Mirallas gives away a free kick with a shove on Ramos as Belgium attacked. Frustrating to watch this - Roberto Martinez has plenty of food for thought.

...

83' SHOT! Kevin de Bruyne unleashes his frustrations on the ball and sends a thunderbolt of a shot from 25 yards out but De Gea tips the ball over for a corner. Spain deal well with the succession of corners that follow.

...

82' Belgium have utterly given up the ghost here, despite controlling possession for the past few minutes. The Belgian supporters organize a Conga line in the stands - that's that gorgeous Belgian beer at work.

...

79' SHOT! Coke hammers a shot wide after Belgium struggle to clear their lines. It's been eerily reminiscent of Roberto Martinez's Everton trying to defend. Lukaku in particular, has been terrible.

...

78' The Belgian twitterverse are praying for Wimots to return. All is forgiven.

...

77' Carrasco comes off to be replaced by Kevin Mirallas..

...

75' Saul and Lucas Vazquez come on to replace Vitolo and goalscorer David Silva

...

72' The party tricks are coming out as Spain unleash a flurry of flicks and first-time passes. Silva is having none of it and sends Vitolo clear with a through ball, but Lukaku forces him wide and fortunately earns a goal kick.

...

70' Spain are absolutely toying with Belgium, and a spell of possession ends with Vitolo in space on the right edge of the box, but he opts to pass instead of shoot from a narrow angle and Belgium are able to clear.

...

67' Romelu Lukaku comes on for Divock Origi

...

66' Nearly! Hazard lays the ball off from the right with an intelligent touch to Witsel on the box, but he loses his balance. Henry cuts a frustrated figure on the bench

...

64' Ramos concedes a free-kick in a dangerous position - De Bruyne's delivery is poor and Spain comfortably clear the ball. Boos ring out in Heysel.

...

David Silva: Has now scored as many goals (2) in 62 mins vs Belgium as he had in his last 15 apps for Spain

...

David Silva pulls level with Emilio Butragueño on 26 goals at full international level for Spain

...

62' Lukaku foolishly trips Vitolo in the box and Silva slams home the resulting penalty. Belgium 0-2 Spain

...

62' GOAL SILVAAA!!

...

60' Almost! A first time cross from the left falls to Costa in the box, but his first touch takes the ball away from him and allows Courtois to collect. Belgium respond with a rare foray forward, and earn a corner.

...

59' Marc Bartra and Cesar Azpilicueta come on for Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique

...

58' SAVE! Diego Costa is sent clear on the right wing and shoots on the run but watches his Chelsea teammate Courtois block his shot with his legs.

...

57' Ramos is no Ronaldo. Oh wait, he is. His effort clips off the top of the Belgian wall and goes out for a corner. Spain are unable to fashion a chance from the set-piece, as substitutes warm up to be brought on.

...

56' Diego Costa holds the ball up well and earns a foul from Toby Alderweireld. Spain have a free-kick on the edge of the box and Ramos lines up to take it..

...

54' Spain work the ball well down the left wing without piercing through the Belgian defence. Such a tease, this team is.

...

51' Mother of God. Boos ring out in Heysel as Jordan Lukaku produces one of the worst crosses I have ever seen as he charges up the left wing. Belgium were in a promising position there, and Roberto Martinez tears whatever few hairs there are left on his scalp off.

...

49' WHAT A SAVE! Thibaut Courtois prevents a certain goal, as Pique heads Coke's free-kick from the right towards goal, but the Chelsea keeper pulls off a stunning save from point-blank range.

...

48' Poor. Dembele's first contribution is to give away a foul in a dangerous position in the centre with a high boot. To be fair, that was Sergio Busquets and even I would be tempted.

...

46' CLOSE! Diego Costa and Silva combine yet again on the edge of the box, as Belgium hack the ball clear. A bright start from Spain, as chants of Espana ring out from the small pocket of Spainsh fans.

...

46' PEEP PEEP PEEP! Spain get us underway in the second half!

...

HT' Moussa Dembele comes on for Radja Nainggolan. Can Roberto Martinez turn this around?

...

The teams have exited the tunnel and the second half is moments away

...

There are hordes of Belgium fans on Twitter calling for Divock Origi to be substituted by Thierry Henry at half time. That's not how this works, folks, even if journalists would love to write a THIERRY HENRY SCORES FOR THE RED DEVILS report.

...

Roberto Martinez's teams have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last 7 games. The Belgium Football Association frequently searches for that panic button.

...

Diego Costa has now scored or assisted a goal in each of his last 6 apps for club and country (3 goals, 3 assists)

...

HT: Belgium 0-1 Spain : Much for Roberto Martinez to ponder as Diego Costa's introduction has allowed David silva to thrive, with the latter giving Spain the lead with a calm finish in the 34th minute.

...

45' 1 minute of injury time.

...

44' David Silva is working his magic as he floats into dangerous areas - the Man City man's latest through ball is hacked clear by Alderweireld.

...

42' HOW DID THEY NOT SCORE! Some quick passing results in the ball falling to Diego Costa in the box, but as he tries to control, he's forced wide and his shot from a narrow angle on the left is blocked.
