FULL TIME: Bengaluru FC 3-0 Shillong Lajong

Three well-taken goals gives the defending champions three valuable points to start the season on top of the I-League table. A brace from Udanta Singh and a piledriver from Sena Ralte gives Albert Roca a win in his first league game in charge of the Blues.

Man of the Match: Udanta Singh
Udanta Singh scored twice to win the Man of the Match
...
90+3' Shillong Lajong win a corner in the dying seconds of the game and Amrinder is finally tested as a low shot is thwarted by the big goalkeeper. That was Shillong's last chance to deny Bengaluru a clean sheet.
...
90+1' Bengaluru are taking it easy as they look for a fourth. They win a corner and Lyngdoh stands over it. The cross has pace but it sails over everyone to go out for a goal kick.
...
90' THREE MINUTES ADDED ON!
...
88' YELLOW CARD: Rupert has not been on the pitch two minutes and he's already gone into the referee's book for being a little too physical while trying to win the ball back.
...
SUBSTITUTION: Mandar Rao Desai also makes his BFC debut as he comes on for Sunil Chhetri.
...
SUBSTITUTION: No hat-trick for Udanta Singh as Roca takes him off for Alwyn George for the final minutes of the game. Meanwhile, Rupert comes on for Shillong as Redeem Tlang is stretchered off the pitch with an injury.
...
84' I don't see a way back for Shillong Lajong. They have barely managed to get the ball into Bengaluru's half and, when they do, they lose possession and allow the home side to counter.
...
82' This is a BFC debut to remember for Sena Ralte. He has been heavily involved in attack, has tracked back when needed and capped it off with what will be a contender for Goal of the Season!
...
80' Sena Ralte channels his inner Roberto Carlos and fires a screamer from more than 30 yards out and it flies past Vishal, almost tearing the net in the process. That was an insane strike!
...
80' GOOOAAALLL! Bengaluru FC 3-0 Shillong Lajong
...
SUBSTITUTION: Daniel comes off and the crowd is on its feet as CK Vineeth comes on to take his place. Chants of "Cheta, cheta!" ring around the Kanteerava.
...
77 Daniellll... SAVED AGAIN! Vishal may have conceded twice already but he deserves the Man of the Match award for his saves. Udanta's low cross is almost directed into the goal by Daniel but Vishal's reflex save sees the ball go above the bar.
...
75' CHANCE... Blocked! Daniel receives the ball in the box but his snapshot is blocked as the Shillong defence close in.
...
73' John Johnson has been playing as a right centre-back and has done well to cover for Khabra when he plays in an advanced position. It's a new role for him and he hasn't really been tested yet - as has Juanan on the other side.
...
70' A misunderstanding between Juanan and Amrinder sees the goalkeeper attempt a clearance, conceding a corner n the process. Shillong's delivery to the near post is blocked and Bengaluru break on the counter. A heavy pass sees Udanta chase it down to the touchline on the opposite side but he can't keep it in play.
...
68' Udanta chases down a ball into the box, chips the ball over an onrushing defender and then fires home with a volley into the bottom corner with his left foot.

Sunil Chhetri, who has seen and done it all, had his hands on his head in utter disbelief! That was a fantastic goal!
...
68' GOOOAAALLL! Bengaluru FC 2-0 Shillong Lajong
...
67' Udantaaa... SAVE! The young winger was through on goal yet again but his chip to beat Vishal sees the goalkeeper read his mind and stick a hand out to deny Bengaluru for the umpteenth time in the game.
...
64' Chhetri and Sena Ralte play amongst themselves and Ralte finds his captain with a neat pass through the defence. But Shillong recover and block any attempt by Chhetri to dribble into the box.
...
62' With no way through, Bengaluru go all the way back to Amrinder. They're still content to keep the ball after having taken a 1-0 lead, inviting the away side to "Come and get it". Will Shillong take the bait and lose their shape?
...
SUBSTITUTION: Yuta Kinowaki comes off for Shillong and Jacob comes on to take his place. That's another U22 player - making it nine youngsters on the pitch.
...
59' As we near the hour-mark, we could see some substitutions. The home crowd chant CK Vineeth's name as the substitutes warm up by the side. Will he come on following a good outing in the ISL with Kerala Blasters?
...
57' That's a first. Chhetri and Lyngdoh were not on the same wavelength as the midfielder tried to find his captain with a through ball. Chhetri didn't even make a run past the full-back on the left.
...
55' Khabra bravely wins the ball with a header and makes his way to the corner flag. The man is made of steel but doesn't have the technical ability to dribble past his opponent and concedes a goal kick under pressure from the defence.
...
54' Offside! Kinowaki attempts to find Pena who had made a run in behind the defence. But Johnson and Juanan had stepped up in time and the linesman raises his flag.
...
52' All the action is in Shillong's half. Bengaluru are not allowing the away side to settle down and are harrying their opponents to force errors they can pounce on.

One such move sees Udanta race down the right flank with the ball, putting in a teasing cross that is caught by Vishal who watched it all the way.
...
50' Lyngdoooh... Oh dear, he's scuffed his chance. Sena Ralte does well to beat his man and get into the box, setting up Lyngdoh. But the midfielder, who had enough time to set up his shot, completely misses the ball and Shillong clear the danger.
...
48' Shillong venture forward on a rare counter-attack and a cross into the box to find Fabio Pena is cleared with ease. The Brazilian has been invisible and lacked support in this game so far.
...
47' Watson signals his teammates crowded inside the six-yard box and attempts to cross it into the melee but it floats out of play as Shillong goalkeeper Vishal heaves a sigh of relief.
...
46' PEEP! Daniel kicks off for Bengaluru and straight away they have a couple of chances on goal that are blocked. Chhetri pounces on the loose ball and his shot is deflected for a corner.
...
The two sides make their way out for the second half. Shillong have it all to do and their away record is against them. They haven't won an away game in ages.
...
It's very early days but Roca will ask his side to keep calm and play their possession game. While the passing has been top notch, their chances created in the final third need to improve.

On the other hand, Shillong need to find a way to counter Bengaluru's 3-4-3. Sitting in two banks of four will no longer help now that they are 1-0 down. Bengaluru recover quickly when the lose the ball and pot shots from distance will not help against a big goalkeeper like Amrinder.
...
HALF-TIME: Bengaluru FC 1-0 Shillong Lajong

Udanta Singh's goal separates the two sides at the break in a game that has been dominated by the home side. Amrinder has been a mere spectator for 99% of the game so far.
...
45+1' Another sweeping counter-attack sees Khabra and Udanta play a one-two but Khabra is dispossessed inside the box. Shillong concede a corner but Bengaluru cannot capitalise.
...
45' WHAT A SAVE! Vishal thwarts yet another attempt as Udanta had nothing but the keeper to beat. His shot was straight at the keeper and Vishal did well to deny the winger.
...
44' Thangboi Singto is yelling instructions to his players from his box as the match officials get ready to add two minutes of added time.
...
41' Lyngdoh has become more involved now. The playmaker attempts a cheeky through-ball into the box for Sena Ralte but Vishal rushes out to collect the ball.
...
40' CHANCE... Eugeneson Lyngdoh has a crack but the shot is saved yet again. The rebound goes out for another goal kick as Bengaluru fail to capitalise.
...
37' Juanan tries to find Chhetri with a very long ball down the left. The Blues (Pinks?) skipper gets a touch but is shrugged off the ball as two defenders close in on him. Goal kick.
