A. Schembri 90'+2'
N. Valskis 90'+6'
90'+5' M. Kilgallon
Andre Schembri leads his Chennaiyin FC teammates in celebration after they defeated Hyderabad FC 2-1 with all the goals coming in the extra time of second half.
This is your host Abhishek Kundu saying goodbye for tonight's live blog. Do stay tuned to Sportskeeda to get the latest ISL and Indian football news.
PEEP! PEEP! PEEP! Well, my prediction of Chennaiyin 2-1 Hyderabad finally comes to fruition, albeit all the goals came in the stoppage time of the second half. Andre Schembri had given Chennaiyin FC the lead in the 91st minute before Matthew Kilgallon towered above the Chennaiyin defenders to head home Abhishek Halder's cross. But, the home side had the last laugh as Nerijus Valksis slammed the ball in the 96th minute to give them the all-important three points.
90+6' GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL! And, Nerijus Valskis gives Chennaiyin FC the lead again.

Edwin Vanspaul with a long cross from inside his own half in the centre. Valskis chests it to Firtulescu who releases the Lithuanian on the left flank. Gurtej is outrun this time and Valskis slams the ball past Kamaljit.
90+5' GOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLL! What an anti-climax! Matthew Kilgallon restores parity for Hyderabad FC at the dying embers of the game.

Abhishek Halder with a swinging cross. No one marks Matthew Kilgallon as Eli Sabia fails to read his run. Lucian Goian and Nerijus Vakskis had towered but no one marks the Englishman.
90+4 Hyderabad FC wins a corner here. Can they get a goal back here?
90+1' GOAAL! Andre Schembri finally finds the goal for Chennaiyin.

Anirudh Thapa with a crossfield cross in the right-wing to Dragos Firtulescu. He lays it off for Edwin Vanspaul and the right-back gives a swinging cross to the far post. The ball ends up on the feet of Lallianzuala Chhangte who passes it to Andre Schembri. Mohammed Yasir was caught napping there. The Maltese Falcon goes for the far post and Kamaljit is finally beaten.
Five minutes have been added on.
90' Chennaiyin ping a long ball from the left flank and Nerijus Valksis tries to fight for the ball with Kamaljit and fouls him.
89' Rafa Lopez Gomes is down and he will take all the time in the world to come up. Hyderabad FC are playing for a draw here.
87' Mohammed Yasir collects the goal-kick from Kamaljit Singh and the youngster tries to go for glory after wriggling past Germanpreet but it ends up as nothing but an ambitious effort.
86' Lucian Goian is down with a cramp in the opposition penalty box. That should wind down the clock. And, remember a draw doesn't help either of the teams here.
85' Hyderabad FC make their final change. Both the Brazilians are now out of the pitch.

OFF- Marcelinho
ON- Abhishek Halder
85' Vishal Kaith's long ball is straight to the substitute Andre Schembri and the second ball falls to Chhangte on the left wing. He gives a brilliant low cross across the face of the goal but Valskis is a tad late and can't meet it.
84' Gurtej Singh and Firtulescu heating things up further here. Gurtej had Firtulescu by the scruff of his neck and he goes into the book for it. Remember boys, this is just a football game.
83' Chennaiyin FC with the last throw of the dice here. John Gregory makes his final change.

OFF- Rafael Crivellaro
ON- Andre Schembri
82' Firtulescu runs down the left and tries to give a low cross but Gurtej Singh stands tall and averts the danger for a corner.
81' Both the teams are attacking with full intent but the humidity seems to have sapped their energy levels and their creativity has hurt massively.
79' Hyderabad FC makes a like-for-like change. Their defensive midfielder was completely exhausted.

OFF- Rohit Kumar
ON- Shankar Sampingiraj
77' TACKLE BY LUCIAN GOIAN! Rohit Kumar with a brilliant through ball finding Mohammed Yasir on the right wing. But, Lucian Goian the last man for Chennaiyin in this case, sticks out his leg to avert the danger.
75' An interesting stat being displayed by the ISL team on our idiot box. Hyderabad FC has conceded the most number of goals this season (3).
74' Tondonba Singh with another long throw and Kilgallon's clearance is only as far as Crivellaro. The Brazilian takes a shot but a host of Hyderabad FC bodies ahead of him means the ball can't go anywhere near the goal.
72' Chennaiyin bail themselves away with some dangerous defending. Mohammed Yasir on the right wing gives a low cross to Gani Ahmed but his shot is blocked. It falls to him again but Lucian Goian stoops low to clear the danger ultimately.
71' Marko Stankovic gets the ball but his stud catches the knee of Lallianzuala Chhangte. Luckily, the Chennaiyin winger is fine.
70' Tondonba Singh with a wonderful long throw but Hyderabad FC players pinball it to head away the ball from outside the box. The ball finds the feet of Firtulescu who slips and Hyderabad FC breaks on the counter.
68' John Gregory makes a double change for Chennaiyin FC. He wants a goal here.

OFF- Masih Saighani
ON- Dragos Firtulescu

OFF- Thoi Singh
ON- Germanpreet Singh
67' Foul against Chennaiyin and Valskis is distraught with the referee. The Lithuanian had elbowed Rafael Lopez Gomes, a good decision by the referee.
66' CHANCE! Mohammed Yasir with all his pace goes down the left flank and tries to give a minus ball across the face of goal. But, Afghanistan's defensive midfielder Masih Saighani gets to the end of it before any Hyderabad player and clears the ball.
65' Hyderabad FC makes their first change. They are taking off the debutant.

OFF- Bobo
ON- Gani Nigam
63' Bobo releases Marcelinho on the left and the Brazilian tries to feed Robin Singh on the opposite flank. But, Lucian Goian gets a touch to it and the trajectory is swerved and the ball goes out for a Hyderabad FC corner.
61' CROSSBAR! Chennaiyin hits the crossbar once again and this time it is Eli Sabia. Anirudh Thapa gives it to the Brazilian just at the outside of the box and with his first touch goes for glory. Kamaljit was beaten but the crossbar saves the day for Hyderabad FC.
60' Bobo goes in the book for a high boot on Tondonba Singh. Welcome to the Hero ISL!
59' SHOT! That is a brilliant full-stretch save from Kamaljit to keep the scoreline intact. Crivellaro gets past his marker but sees a host of body ahead of him. He goes for glory from just outside the box. The shot is on target but Kamaljit is equally adept to the challenge and dives to deny the ball nestling into the top left corner.
57' SHOT! Bobo takes a defender with him and waits patiently for Marcelinho's run. When he does so, he sets him free and the Brazilian takes a shot from a narrow-angle but Vishal Kaith saves the shot.
56' Robin Singh is having a wasteful game here. Rafa Lopez Gomes passes it to him and goes for a long ranger despite Anirudh Thapa being straight in front of him.
55' SHOT! Stankovic with a woeful mispass and the ball ultimately ends up with Thoi Singh inside the box on the right. He crosses it in for Lucian Goian who had come forward but the Romanian's header is inches wide. Chennaiyin miss another golden opportunity to take the lead.
54' Thoi Singh with a brilliant chip trying to find Valskis but it is a tad quick and Kamaljit comes off his line to catches it.
53' Chhangte tries to dribble past Gurtej on the left wing but he cannot and the ball goes out for a Hyderabad FC goal-kick.
50' OFF THE BAR! Tondonba gives a brilliant pass to Crivellaro on the centre and he frees Thoi Singh in the right flank. The Manipuri speedster takes a shot but Kamaljit gets a hand to it and the ball kisses the bar before going out of play for another Chennaiyin corner.
49' Crivellaro with an inswinging corner but it is headed outside the box. It falls kindly to Thapa on the outside of the box and he takes a shot after going inside but Kamaljit catches it and holds on to it.
48' CHANCE! Marcelinho goes to the far post with his free-kick and Robin Singh gets his foot to it. He tries to centre but his looping cross is too high for every Hyderabad player and the danger drizzles away.
47' First yellow card of the game goes to Anirudh Thapa for taking down Mohammed Yasir to whom he had lost the ball.
46' Crivellaro is the playmaker for Chennaiyin here. The Brazilian samba dances past Rohit Kumar in a diagonal run and is ultimately brought down here by him. Chennaiyin with a free-kick from a dangerous position.
46' We are back here for the second half as Chennaiyin gets us going from the right to left side of our screen.
That's it. The referee blows his half-time whistle. Both the sides had golden opportunities to take the lead but abysmal misses from Chennaiyin's Chhangte and Hyderabad's Robin Singh means the teams enter the tunnel with the same scoreline with which they had come out. Don't go anywhere and stay tuned for the second half of the Chennaiyin FC vs Hyderabad FC game in ISL.
45+1' Rohit Kumar tries to release Marcelinho on the counter but the referee raises his flag. However, the replays suggest he was onside actually!
1 Minute has been added on.
45' MISS! And, now Robin Singh misses a golden opportunity to give Hyderabad FC the lead. A brilliant one-touch pass between Marko Stankovic, Bobo, and Marcelinho ends up with Robin Singh through on goal in a one-on-one situation with Vishal Kaith. He goes for the top corner but his shot hits the side netting.
43' CHANCE! Anirudh Thapa goes past Marko Stankovic right through him and he is at the byline inside the penalty box. He gives a minus ball trying to find Thoi Singh at a hand-shaking distance from the goal. But, Matthew Kilgallon sticks his leg from behind to concede only a corner.
41' Thoi Singh is through on the counter this time and he tries to do a cut back. But, Edwin Vanspaul hadn't come forward this time and Hyderabad regain the possession.
40' CHANCE! Hyderabad FC's goalkeeper Kamaljit Singh with a long shot and Stankovic's backheel wide on the right sees Marcelinho one-on-one with Chennaiyin goalkeeper. But, Vishal Kaith comes off the box and makes a sliding clearance to keep the scoreline level.
39' Mohammed Yasir feeds Robin Singh wide in the left. He crosses it in but Lucian Goian is there first. The rebound falls to his path but this time it is straight to Chennaiyin goalkeeper Vishal Kaith's hand.
38' SHOT! Marcelinho with a mazy run and he goes past Eli Sabia. Tondonba Singh gets a touch to the ball but it falls straight to the path of an onrushing Bobo. The Brazilian makes a long-range effort but it is a tad high.
36' OFFSIDE! Chennaiyin brilliantly plays the ball to their forward line from the back. Tondonba Singh gives a square pass to Lallianzuala Chhangte inside the box and he lays it off for Thoi Singh with his first time effort. He takes a shot from close range and Kamaljit saves the shot. But, the assistant raises his flag beforehand for Thoi's mistimed run.
32' CHANCE! Well, luck is not at all favoring Chennaiyin here. Tondonba Singh with a brilliant pass to Chhangte on the left wing and he gives a minus ball to Anirudh Thapa at the penalty box. The Indian international takes a first time shot and beats the goalkeeper. But, Matthew Kilgallon was standing at the goal-line and it is straight to his feet. He controls his shot with a touch and then clears it with ease.
31' Chennaiyin with a brilliant counter attack. Anirudh Thapa the playmaker here and releases Thoi Singh on the right flank. He drifts wide and crosses it in but Hyderabad defender gets a head to it and clears the danger.
30' SHOT! That was an ambitious effort from Bobo, who is clearly frustrated. Seeing Vishal off the line, he takes a shot from around 35 yards out that too wide from left.
29' MISS! Marcelinho bends it above the wall but the ball dips a little late and Chennaiyin goalkeeper Vishal Kaith breathe a sigh of relief.
28' Free Kick to Hyderabad just outside the box. Stankovic tries to trap the ball but Eli Sabia pushes it from behind and Hyderabad have a golden opportunity to go ahead. That is a Marcelinho spot to score.
25' MISS! What does Chennaiyin have to do to score a goal here? A scramble on the centre of the pitch ends up with Valskis laying it off for Thoi Singh wide in the right. He cuts inside and crosses the ball for Chhangte. He flies in the air to connect his header in an empty net but it is wide. That is the best chance Chennaiyin have got so far in the game. Will they repent it later?
22' Double save from Kamaljit to deny Chennaiyin a goal!

A cross from the left wing by Tondonba Singh and Valskis but Kamaljit palms it away only as far as Edwin Vanspaul. No one marked him and takes a touch to control the ball and unleashes the ball to the first post. But, Kamaljit gets a hand at the ball again and the scoreline stays 0-0.
19' Deja vu again! Crivellaro goes past Nikhil Poojary in the centre of the pitch and Chhangte is through on goal at the left wing. He goes to the byline and gives a low cross across the face of the goal. It gets a touch from Rohit Kumar and the ball is going goalbound. But, Kamaljit, who was going in the opposite end, manages to swerve his body and dive the other end to deny an own goal.
17' Crivellaro takes a good corner but it is cleared haphazardly outside the box. Edwin Vanspaul takes a shot from outside the box but it is inches wide and the ball trickles away for a Hyderabad goal-kick.
16' Chhangte with another miss. Okay, Chennaiyin win a corner here.

Crivellaro with a brilliant through ball with the outside of his boot and Chhangte muscles his way past Nikhil Poojary to take a shot at goal. But, Vishal Kaith gets a palm to it and prevents the ball from going to the back of the net.
15' A brilliant through ball by Crivellaro and Lallianzuala Chhangte is again through on goal. But, Rafael Lopez Gomes his arch-nemesis blocks his shot.
14' Chhangte with all his pace runs down the left wing and tries to centre the ball with a low cross but Rafael Lopez Gomes reads the trajectory and intercepts it.
13' Crivellaro takes the free-kick and Chennaiyin's Masih Saighani manages to connect it. But, he has mistimed his run and the referee gives an offside to him.
12' Rohit Kumar sweeps the legs of Anirudh Thapa and wins the ball in the defensive third. Outstanding tackle but the referee deems otherwise and Chennaiyin have a free-kick at a dangerous situation.
10' Seeing no one covering Edwin Vanspaul, Crivellaro passes it to him. He runs with the ball for a yard and ultimately takes a shot from outside the box. But, it is blocked this time by Rafael Lopez Gomes.
9' Both the teams are taking things slow and are fumbling in the attacking third. That explains the lack of goals with which both Chennaiyin and Hyderabad are struggling.
7' Anirudh Thapa with a brilliant one-two with Thoi Singh and the former lays it off for Rafael Crivellaro at the outside of the box. He takes a shot from distance but the ball is blocked by Gurtej Singh. Hyderabad breaks on the counter but Vishal Kaith comes off his line to clear the danger.
5' Anirudh Thapa loses the ball in the final third and Bobo catches him off guard. He tries to run down the centre of the pitch but is stopped by Edwin Vanspaul. The former Chennai City FC man has been the most impressive player for me so far in the ISL.
3' From what can we see on the screen. Hyderabad FC are dropping to flat 4-4-2 when not in possession. One of the wide midfielders are dropping to back four. That should contain the wing threat of Chennaiyin's Chhangte and Thoi Singh.
1' PEEP! Hyderabad FC gets us going from the right to the left side of our TV screen.
Handshakes, team photographs, and other formalities are done and dusted. Kickoff on the other side of the commercial break.
And, the teams are out. Chennaiyin are wearing their royal blue home jersey. Hyderabad FC, on the other hand, are donning their lemon yellow shirts.
The teams are out next and here is my prediction. Do you think the game will end like that?

Chennaiyin FC 2-1 Hyderabad FC
"Looking forward to the game of Nikhil Poojary and Robin Singh. Nikhil Poojary, I know, because he has been with the national team but I am happy that Robin Singh is starting tonight. He needs to up his game," says Igor Stimac.
Tamil actress Divyadarshini is here to support Hyderabad FC! That should provide enough confidence to the team.
Well, that is a wonderful gesture from Chennaiyin FC players Jeje Lalpekhlua and Karanjit Singh. Let's hope they pick up their first win at home.
"It is an important game for them (Chennaiyin FC) because it is a bottom derby," says Igor Stimac. That's it the derby bug has bit India's national team coach as well. Get well soon, coach!
Talking Tactics- Hyderabad FC

Hyderabad FC once again takes to the field with their peculiar 3-4-3 formation. Phil Brown seems to enjoy it but it remains to be seen whether the team can avoid leaking goals this time. Gurtej Singh, Raphael Lopez Gomes, and Matthew Kilgallon will form the back three with Nikhil Poojary and Mohammed Yasir covering the wide areas of the pitch, left and right respectively. Marko Stankovic and Rohit Kumar will have the double duty to defend and attack in the midfield. Robin Singh, Marcelinho, and Bobo will form the front three, with the former acting as a No.9 to allow the other two to have a shot at goal.
Talking Tactics- Chennaiyin FC

Ditching the 4-4-2 that backfired against Bengaluru FC, John Gregory has gone back to his favored 4-1-4-1 formation. Edwin Vanspaul and Tondonba Singh will man the right and left flank respectively whereas Lucian Goian and Eli Sabia will guard the heart of the defense. Afghanistan international Masih Saighani will act as a screen in front of the defense allowing the Anirudh Thapa and Rafael Crivellaro to help the team in the attack. Lallianzuala Chhangte and Thoi Singh will prove to be a menace down the wings with their pace and crosses in the left and right wing respectively looking to feed balls to their lone centre-forward Nerijus Valskis.
Hyderabad FC, too, has made three changes to the starting XI that lost narrowly 1-0 to NorthEast United FC.

Shankar Sampingiraj sits out to make way for Rafael Lopez Gomes who has recovered from his injury in the three-man defense. Deyvison Rogerio da Silva, better known as Bobo, will make his debut for Hyderabad FC as he replaces Gani Abdul Nigam in the attack. Robin Singh too finds his way in the starting XI and will lend an extra helping hand in attack as defensive midfielder Abhishek Halder gets relegated to the bench.
Chennaiyin FC has made three changes to the side that got humbled 3-0 by Bengaluru FC before the international break.

Masih Saighani replaces Dhanpal Ganesh in the central defensive midfield role and Lallianzuala Chhangte replaces Rahim Ali on the left wing. Striker Andre Schembri is dropped to make way for Thoi Singh who will play gallop down the right flank.
Well, we have the starting line-ups of Hyderabad FC as well!

Starting XI: Kamaljit Singh (GK), Rafael Lopez Gomes, Matthew Kilgallon, Gurtej Singh, Mohammed Yasir, Nikhil Poojary, Rohit Kumar, Marko Stankovic, Marcelo Pereira, Bobo, Robin Singh

Subs: Laxmikant Kattimani, Asish Rai, Sahil Panwar, Sahil Tavora, Gani Ahmed Nigam, Shankar Sampingraj, Abhishek Halder
And, we have the starting line-up of Chennaiyin FC!

Starting XI: Vishal Kaith (GK), Eli Sabia, Masih Saighani, Lucian Goian, Tondonba Singh, Rafael Crivellaro, Anirudh Thapa, Edwin Vanspaul, Lallianzuala Chhangte, Thoi Singh, Nerijus Valskis

Subs: Karanjit Singh, Jerry Lalrinzuala, Laldinliana Renthlei, Dragos Firtulescu, Germanpreet Singh, Andre Schembri, Rahim Ali
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Sportskeeda's live blog of tonight's ISL encounter between Chennaiyin FC and Hyderabad FC to be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. This is Abhishek Kundu and I will be with you for the thick and thins of the action. The line-up should be out at any moment from now.
Matthew Kilgallon: The international break came at a good time for us

Having the worst defensive record in ISL 2019-20 so far, Hyderabad FC's Matthew Kilgallon is eager to put behind the disappointing performances of the past and help his team overcome the obstacles. The Englishman believes in the hard work they put in the international break and are eager to reap its fruits.

“I think we have played well, we have trained well, we have to go out there and win. The international break came at a good time for us. We have worked hard. We will keep working hard on the training field. I’m really looking forward to the game.”
Lucian Goian: Can do same with Chennaiyin what we did with Mumbai last season

Chennaiyin FC finds themselves in a somewhat similar situation to that Mumbai City FC found themselves last season where they picked up only two wins in the first five matches. But, post the international break, the side went on an eight-match unbeaten run that saw them go to the top of the table. Lucian Goian helmed Mumbai City FC last season and the Romanian believes he can do the same with Chennaiyin this season.

"It was the same when I was with Mumbai last season. Our confidence was down but then we started winning. We had a very good run and then qualified for the semis. I’m sure that we can do the same in Chennaiyin FC. We have the quality and what we need. We are just missing the goal. This is also a pressure for all of us but I’m sure that once we score our first goal, we will increase our confidence and be back on track.”
Phil Brown: Giles Barnes or Bobo might start today

Hyderabad FC's attacking plans have been thwarted by the absence of Bobo and Giles Barnes who have picked up injuries either in the pre-season or during their opening matchdays. But, both are on their road to recovery and head coach Phil Brown has asserted that it is a tough choice for him to include both of them as he doesn't want either of them to be injured again.

“For the first time since I started coaching in India, I have 24 or the 25 players available to me. Six of the seven foreign players are available to me, but Bobo has been out for a while. I have to be careful. He hasn’t played too much football. I must make the calculated decision of whether to start him or will he play from the bench. The same applies to Giles (Barnes). Starting both together will be a dangerous thing to do. It is a decision I must make. We will see if I made the right decision from the end product of our game.
John Gregory: Jeje will be back by December

Indian international striker Jeje Lalpekhlua has been out of action since the AFC Cup in May. Chennaiyin FC's head coach John Gregory gave an update on the Mizo sniper in the pre-match press conference and said that he will be back by December.

"I had a long chat with him this morning. Occasionally he feels a little sore in the knees. He has been training with the squad and is very determined to get back. We don’t want to bring him back too early so that he has a relapse and we lose him again for three to four months. We are taking it slowly for the moment. Hopefully, by December we can get him on the bench and then on the field because that can give him a little confidence."
Hyderabad FC's Brazilian striker Bobo, who has missed the four matches of ISL owing to an injury might make his debut today as he has joined the team for his training session. Do you think the Chennaiyin FC defense can hold the Brazilian duo of Bobo and Marcelinho?
Chennaiyin FC will be eager to score their first goal when they come up against Hyderabad FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Monday. In over 360 minutes of football in the 2019-20 edition of Indian Super League season, John Gregory’s side hasn’t found the back of the net. With just one draw in four games, Chennaiyin FC is rock bottom while Hyderabad FC sits above them with three points from four matches.

However, Chennaiyin FC's head coach John Gregory can take heart from the fact that their opponents have the worst defensive record (10) in the league. However, he will need his team to forget the 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Bengaluru FC just before the break.

“We dominated in our home matches. We played well against Mumbai and ATK. So, I was relaxed going into the Bengaluru FC game, but the performance left me shell-shocked. Particularly since it was against our rivals. We gave our fans nothing to cheer about,” said Gregory.

Chennaiyin FC’s forwards - Andre Schembri and Nerijus Valskis - have been guilty of missing gilt-edge chances. The likes of Rafael Crivellaro has created opportunities, but the team has come up short. The long international break might have given Chennaiyin FC some time for introspection and regrouping and they should come out as a rejuvenated side. The good news for Chennaiyin FC is that every player is available for selection.

Hyderabad FC struggled in the opening four games without their best players and could only grind out a win against Kerala Blasters, suffering defeats at the hands of Jamshedpur FC, ATK and NorthEast United. Hearteningly for Hyderabad FC head coach Phil Brown, they have seen almost all of their injured players recover and that would allow the Englishman to field his strongest XI against Chennaiyin FC. However, Adil Khan picked up a knock in India’s World Cup qualifier against Oman and might miss the game.

Though Chennaiyin FC are not in the best frame of mind, Brown is wary of a response. “Chennaiyin won the title two years ago and now he’s (Gregory) like a caged animal, a wounded animal. He’s not getting the reward for hard work. They are losing games. That’s the hard part of coaching, that’s the hard part of management, to get answers. He has got the same problems as me, picking the right combination of Indian and foreign players,” said Brown.

Hyderabad FC will count on star forward Marcelinho to deliver on Monday but more importantly, Brown will need to sort his team’s defence out. The two bottom-placed sides in the ISL badly need three points on Monday to boost their campaigns.
