Plaza (R) celebrates his strike with Robin Singh
FULL TIME: East Bengal 2-0 Mumbai FC

Two first-half goals from Willis Plaza are enough to see East Bengal extend their lead at the top of the table - for the time being. They now have 16 points having played a game more than Aizawl and Mohun Bagan who are on 13 points.
...
90+4' YELLOW CARD! Mehtab Hossain goes into the book. The guy looks tired and frustrated after getting kicked around and he's now gone into the book for an infraction. It's the fourth of the season for him and he's staring at a suspension.
...
90+3' East Bengal have a corner but they're just happy to keep the ball near the corner flag, inviting Mumbai to pressurise them and win the ball back. The away side eventually get a throw in but East Bengal win it back.
...
89' SUBSTITUTION: Robin Singh comes off for Thongkhosiem Haokip as East Bengal make their final substitution - more so in an attempt to run the clock down in the final moments.
...
88' YELLOW CARD! With no hope of a goal, Mumbai have resorted to kicking the East Bengal players. This time it's Shilton who goes into the book for his cynical attempt to stop an East Bengal counter-attack.
...
86' Thoi Singh lets fly a fierce strike on goal from outside the box. He was aiming for the top corner but it flies just wide of the post.
...
84' GOOO... NO! Not given! The free-kick sees Dias send the ball in and Shilton sees his effi=ort clawed off the line. The linesman keeps his flag down and says the ball did not cross the line.

Replays prove he's right. Of course, we don't have Goal Line Technology here to determine if it did.
...
83' YELLOW CARD! The referee comes in the way of Steven Dias before he can have a go at Mehtab Hossain as they argue over where the free-kick should be taken.
...
77' YELLOW CARD! Finally the referee pulls out a card for a rather malicious tackle by Pratik Chowdhary. The referee initially waved Bengal to play on since they still had possession but booked the Mumbai defender after the next stoppage in play.
...
75' Rahul Behke makes a run into the Mumbai box and unselfishly cuts the ball back but there were no strikers in the box to get a shot off. Neither Robin nor Plaza were in position.
...
74' Plaza goes down in the box when Mehtab sends in a free-kick. However, the referee sees no foul and Mumbai have a goal kick. Replays show that Plaza went down too easily and the referee was right to refuse a penalty.
...
71' East Bengal look dangerous again. A cross into the box sees Plaza try to grab his hat-trick but Sawant makes a comfortable save.
...
67' There's a stoppage in play as Mumbai's Fernandes is down with what looks like a slight concussion after a knock to the back of his head. The referee has stopped play and the winger has to be stretchered off for treatment.
...
64' SUBSTITUTION: Wedson Anselme comes off for Romeo Fernandes as Trevor Morgan rings in the changes. East Bengal have not really made any headway in the second half and he feels the winger could help improve the attack.
...
62' That free-kick was hit straight at Robin Singh in the wall and he went down immediately after the ball hit him in the gut. He's taken some time to get back to his feet - anyone would be after getting winded like that!
...
60' FOUL! Mumbai have a free-kick in a good position and Theobald stands over the ball. East Bengal set up a 4-man wall and they stand firm to block his shot.
...
56' GOOO...OFFSIDE! Theobald has the ball in the back of the net after beating Rehnesh but the linesman's flag is up! Replays shows he was half a yard offside when he received the ball at the edge of the box.

Theobald shakes a finger at the linesman who only smiles and reaffirms that he was indeed offside.
...
49' East Bengal win the ball and Wedson carries the ball into Mumbai's half before attempting a through ball to Robin Singh. He almost gets it through but the defence manage to get in the way and thwart the counter-attack.
...
46' No changes for East Bengal for the second half but Mumbai FC have brought on 24-year-old striker Karan Sawhney for Allan Dias as Santosh Kashyap looks for a goal to get back in the tie.
...
And we're back! Mumbai get us underway.
...
East Bengal clearly in control in the first half thanks to two very well taken goals from Willis Plaza. It is his magic in the box, especially for the second goal, that has made the difference in this game.

Trevor Morgan will ask some questions of the East Bengal defence, though, after Mumbai gave them a few scares. Santosh Kashyap may look to rejig his formation (and maybe personnel) to get better chances on goal.
...
HALF-TIME: East Bengal 2-0 Mumbai FC
...
45+2 East Bengal skipper Didika Ralte tries his luck with a first-time effort from the edge of the box. But his curling shot goes wide of the far post.
...
45' This time Poojary and Bheke combine on the right to put a delicious cross into the box but Shallum Pires heads it out to safety before East Bengal's strikers can pounce.
...
43' Nikhil Poojary is guilty of squandering possession yet again. The youngster has made some good runs into Mumbai's half but he does not release the ball early enough to cause problems for Mumbai.
...
40' Mumbai are struggling to deal with the physicality of Robin and Plaza who easily outmuscle their markers to receive the ball on the edge of the final third and bring the midfielders into play.
...
36' Mehtab is a man on a mission now. He's fouled Shallum Pires on the right side and Mumbai have a free kick. Allan Dias sends the ball in and Rehnesh almost lets the ball slip off his gloves before he regains control and holds on to it for dear life! That was close!
...
34' Yet another foul on Mehtab Hossain! A 50-50 ball sees Densil stick his foot out and catch Mehtab on the ankle. He's down on the ground in obvious pain. The physio comes on and Mehtab goes off the pitch to receive treatment.
...
32' CLANG! Farukh gets the better of Gurwinder with a neat trick and loses the defender to get an attempt on goal. He may have been going for a lob to find his teammate or going for goal - we're not sure - but the ball bounces off the crossbar and East Bengal survive.
...
30' Another long ball is sent towards Robin Singh and the striker almost gets to it but this time Sawant rushes out to catch the ball just in time to collect the ball.
...
28' A lack of communication between Rehnesh and Narayan Das sees the full-back clear the ball under pressure before the goalkeeper can take it. Mumbai have a corner kick but East Bengal win the ball back with Poojary sprinting down the right before he is fouled by Allan Dias.
...
26' After scoring two quick goals, East Bengal are in no hurry to bring the ball forward. They're content with passing the ball around for the time being, looking for chinks in the Mumbai defence to exploit.
...
23' An alert Nikhil Poojary makes a quick interception and makes a run down the right. But a few stepovers later, he loses the ball out to the defence. He really should have found a teammate there or waited for support. Coach Trevor Morgan shakes his head on the bench.
...
20' The referee blows the whistle for a high boot on Robin Singh and Mumbai's Pratesh Shirodkar immediately runs to the referee to protest an elbow at the other end. But the referee is not interested much to Pratesh's frustration.
...
17' It's Willis Plaza again! East Bengal's no.9 traps the ball with his foot, feints a move to the right bamboozle two defenders and then fires a shot into the roof of the net to double the lead!

The Mumbai defence simply have no answer to Willis' heroics so far.
...
17' GOOOAAALLL! East Bengal 2-0 Mumbai FC
...
13' Mumbai are a little frustrated and it;s Mehtab Hossain who has felt the brunt of it. Still no booking though as Hossain lets it go after an apology from the Mumbai players.
...
10' A cross from the right finds Willis Deon Plaza in the box and the Trinidadian striker outmuscles two defenders to get a shot off. The shot is low and creeps in at the far post with goalkeeper Kunal Sawant stranded.

That was a good goal under pressure!
...
