England VS Turkey, SUMMARY:
Roy Hodgson’s 26-man provisional squad has already been announced, and in this hat-trick of friendlies he will face the perennial decision - stick of twist? As usual, England completely walked over their group, winning all 10 matches they played while averaging a whooping 3.1 goals a game.
However, Hodgson (and most English fans) know that the level at tournaments is much higher, and he hasn’t coped well with it at all. After a horrid World Cup, this may be the former Fulham manager’s last major tournament. This friendly is the beginning of the last to make his a memorable tenure.
Fatih Terim’s Turkish side squeezed into their first major tournament (since they last squeezed into Euro 2008) with a last-minute strike. As the best 3rd placed team, the Turks will get a very fiery welcome back, with Czechoslovakia, Spain and Croatia awaiting in their group. The Spaniards - especially - will require some elite tactical nous to beat, and with just 3 games before the Euro starts, Terim will be thrilled to work on it.
For the first time in 9 years, the Three Lions will entertain a visiting team in a stadium other than the fabled Wembley, which plays host to the FA Cup Final.

England VS Turkey, TEAM NEWS:
For England, no Manchester United or Liverpool player except Henderson (who sat out his side’s defeat) will be available - to rest after the Europa and FA Cup finals. Vice-captain Gary Cahill picked up a knock in training but should be available to lead them out in Wayne Rooney’s stead. Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy will be looking to add to their impressive total of 57 goals this season.
The Turkish camp will be without Burak Yilmaz, Nuri Sahin and captain Arda Turan due to their club season finales. However, they have a 31-man provisional squad to pick from so the nailed-on members could benefit from a rest. Leverkusen midfield star Calhanoglu will be in a team including 18-yr old Emre Mor.
England VS Turkey, MATCH PREDICTIONS:
England 2-1 Turkey
England will be naming an experimental side, but one including 2 of the Premier League’s 3 finest strikers - and surely England’s best. The engine room will be hoping to click first-time but that’s unlikely.
Turkey will be a threat from set-pieces with Calhanoglu but without their main men in midfield, they will find it tough to grind the English down in battle. They’re unbeaten in 13 matches but that run is not their focus in this fixture. Expect a difficult, closed affair but England’s quality should see them out on top.
