It's a happier Christmas for Liverpool fans than the Everton faithful. It was not a spectacle as a football match, but a derby always has that special something. Liverpool found that little bit extra and go 2nd in the Premier League, 6 points behind Chelsea.
At the end of a wonderful night for Jurgen Klopp's Reds, this is Aaditya Narayan signing off. Cheers! Good night.
Liverpool win! Sadio Mane's injury time winner has the bragging rights for the Reds in Merseyside.
What drama! This is the drama that derbies will produce! For many Liverpool fans, this will taste a lot sweeter than a drubbing would have.
Everton dominated the first 30 minutes of the game, but from then on, it was all Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp's side were the only side that looked like winning the game, in the second half.
It was a game that lacked quality. It seriously did. It was a painful watch at times for the neutral, but in truth, neither side really deserved to win it.
Liverpool persevered and persevered and snatched the three points right at the end, thanks to Mane, who is having a stunning first season at the club.
For Klopp, this is the kind of win he would have needed to silence the doubters. Liverpool have not really been able to grind wins out recently, and that was exactly what they did here.
Everton 1-0 Liverpool
The eight minutes have been played. But there are a few seconds left.
90+7' WHAT A BLOCK FROM COLEMAN!!! Liverpool are on the counter attack and Mane is away on the right side. He cuts it back to Firmino, but his shot on goal is brilliantly blocked by the valiant Coleman, after it had Robles beaten.
There is a flair on the pitch and an intruder, which means that we will have added time to added time.
90+4' GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL! SADIO MANE HAS WON IT!
Sturridge takes a left-footed shot that scruffs along the ground, but it beats Robles to hit the post. Mane is alive to the situation and taps the rebound into an empty goal! 1-0 to Liverpool!
90+4' UFFF LUKAKU! Milner with a bad pass that is picked off. He makes ground towards the Liverpool goal, but there is sheer numbers for Liverpool to clear it!!
90+3' A very scrappy end to the game here. Everton seem to be happy to take a draw at this stage. Liverpool have been trying, but they lack that spark.
EIGHT MINUTES OF STOPPAGE TIME. All the added time is for the stoppages caused by Stekelenburg's injury.
87' BLOCKED! Henderson plays the ball in from the right flank and Firmino takes two beautiful close touches before unleashing a left-footed strike but Coleman is there to block that goal-bound effort.
85' Good position for a Liverpool free-kick here! Clyne plays the ball into the path of Mane, and Gueye takes him out from behind him. Yellow card for Gueye.
Emre Can has replaced Adam Lallana.
82' Daniel Sturridge replaces Divock Origi
80' BEST CHANCE OF THE GAME! Milner's corner is well flighted and reaches Firmino. The Brazilian caught it sweetly with his right foot and Robles diving to his left makes a fine save.
79' Liverpool corner! Scrappy play, but Origi puts the ball out off Baines for a corner.
77' OOOHHHH! Clyne goes on a foray down the right and to the byline. He puts a high ball into the box, and Firmino goes for the overhead kick. But his effort is more off the shin than his foot.
76'CHANCE AT THE OTHER END! Quick play from Lallana sends Mane through on the right hand side and he squares it towards Origi but Coleman is alert and deflects Origi's poke towards goal for a corner.
75' CHANCE! Barkley's free-kick is whipped in nicely towards Williams and the Welshman gets his head on it, but is too far away from goal to trouble Mignolet. Stright to the Belgian. Everton's first shot on target.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin replaces Enner Valencia.
The 19-year-old made his debut in their last game Arsenal after being signed from Sheffield United in the summer.
70' Mane is down now.. Mike Dean did not give a free-kick for Lennon's challenge and that is a fair decision. Mane's problem was because he ran into Barry after Lennon's challenge.
Replays show that Barkley's challenge could be deemed two-footed. That could have been deemed a red card worthy offense.
Lovren is on a yellow. He really does not need to get involved like this.
THERE'S THE FIRST DERBY SCUFFLE! An awful challenge by Barkley on Henderson has Lovren incensed. The Croatian runs at Barkley and unnecessary gets involved. Seamus Coleman is pushed away by Lovren too.
64' Again, it's gone to being scrappy. The likes of Barkley, Lallana and Firmino have not asserted their presence yet. Can someone please do that? This game NEEDS a goal!
JOEL ROBLES REPLACES MAARTEN STEKELENBURG
62' Another break in play as Stekelenburg's game looks to be over. The Everton keeper goes down, and signals to the bench again. Joel Robles is going to come on to replace the Dutchman.
We're back in play as Stekelenburg soldiers on, he is still hugely struggling though.
The Blues in the crowd use the break in play to raise the decibel levels at Goodison. Fabulous atmosphere here!
While going in on Mane, Baines seemed to have caught Stekelenburg. The Everton goalkeeper is down and receiving treatment. Joel Robles in warming up on the sideline.
The Dutchman looks like he's struggling, he might have to go off here.
58' The pace of Mane!!! The Senegalese plays a one-two with Firmino and bursts forward when he looked to have no hope. Baines came across to tackle and Stekelnburg advances as well. They look like they'll sort it out between them, but Mane got in to get the last touch for an Everton goal kick.
56' First booking of the game! Lukaku cleverly runs it past Lovren and had acres of space in front of him, but Lovren cynically blocks his path. Yellow card for Dejan Lovren.
54' OOHH LUKAKU! Mignolet is uncertain as Barry floats the ball into Lukaku's path, but his looping header is nowhere near the goal.
52' Coleman blocks Origi, but Valencia promptly gives it away to Milner. He plays a cross pass to Firmino who tries to cut in on his right foot, but Gueye is quick to pounce on him and clear the danger.
51' Lukaku moves towards a clearance, and has a good chance to hold it up, but Lovren pinches it from him.
Firmino should have put that away, bets chance of the game. First shot on target in this game.
50' BIG CHANCE FOR FIRMINO!! Milner plays it into the Brazilian's path with a high ball, but he took it well to go on-one-one with Stekelenburg. The big Dutchman rushes out and blocks Firmino's shot with his head. Liverpool muck up on the rebound.
48' Poor from Lennon! Liverpool work it to Milner on the overlap but the left-back's cross is long, but Lennon can only skew his clearance out for a corner!
48' Liverpool seeing much more of the ball than they did in the start of the opening half. Everton have barely touched it so far
PEEP!! And we're off again!
Gareth Barry is on to replace McCarthy. 610th PL appearance
