Kerala Blasters
1 - 1
Mumbai City
H. Narzary 24'
90'+3' P. Bhumij
Pranjal Bhumij has made me need to catch my breath after that goal. You all can go catch yours too, because that's it from us for tonight. Tomorrow, the defending champions Chennaiyin FC will look to bounce back from their opening day defeat to Bengaluru FC, as they host FC Goa. Do join us for that one. Until then, this is Aaditya Narayan saying goodbye at the end of a fabulous game of football!
90+5' PEEEEEEEPPPP! It ends all square, thanks to Pranjal Bhumij's injury time scorcher.

Full-time: Kerala Blasters 1-1 Mumbai City FC.

Kerala were absolutely fantastic for a large part of that game, showing comfort in possession of the ball and penetration in the final third. Holicharan Narzary gave them a well-deserved lead in the first half, after neat play from Len set him up to smash past Amrinder.

Mumbai put Kerala under a lot more pressure after the break, but they found very little in the final third, despite Dheeraj displaying several uncertain moments in the Kerala goal. It took until the third minute of added time in the second half for another goal, and it was worth the wait and more, as Pranjal Bhumij, all of nineteen, stepped up and gave Mumbai an equaliser.

Kerala will feel they deserved the three points, Mumbai will feel they got out of jail. But with a goal like that deserves to be winning your team points, and Bhumij has got Mumbai City underway.
90+4' That goal has stunned Kochi, which has lost its voice right at the end of what was supposed to be their party. The 19-year-old Bhumij has ruined the party for all of Kerala.
90+3' GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL! PRANJAL BHUMIJ WITH AN ABSOLUTE STUNNER! The super sub has rescued a point for Mumbai with a hit from 35 yards out.

He finds the ball with himself in midfield, and he has nothing else on his mind but to smash it towards goal. He has cut across that just enough for it to swerve away from Dheeraj, and give him no chance to stop the ball from nestling in the top corner.
90+2' The corner comes to nothing, but Mumbai have another free-kick, which they take short for some inexplicable reason.
90+1' Mumbai have a free-kick in a useful area, after Krcmarevic fouls Mirabaje. The Uruguayan takes the free-kick which Dheeraj comes out for, and gets just enough. Mumbai have a corner.
90' 5 added minutes, says the fourth official's board. Mumbai have five minutes to rescue a point. Kerala have five minutes to hold on for their second win of the season.
88' Dheeraj is booked for time-wasting.
87' Sougou misses a golden opportunity! Amrinder absolutely clatters one into the opposition box, and Dheeraj has fumbled the ball with Goian challenging him. The ball falls to Sougou, who hooks his volley wide with the whole goal gaping.
86' More frustration for Mumbai here. Mirabaje leads the protests again. For what they are protesting, I don't know. There doesn't seem to be anything amiss here. Maybe, it's just the frustration of not being able to break Kerala open.
84' Saved by Dheeraj! Mayhem in the Kerala box. Mirabaje has it in the box after Dheeraj fumbles a cross, but the young man is back in position to block the Uruguayan's shot on goal. Eventually, Mumbai are disgusted by the referee's call to give Kerala a free-kick. Why he's given it, I still don't know. Dheeraj is down though and receiving treatment.
84' Mumbai have a corner, and that is a howler from the referee. Pranjal has run it too far ahead of himself, but Mumbai should have a free-kick for an awful challenge from Narzary.
82' Stojanovic misses the ball! That is a big chance for Kerala to put this to bed. Vineeth spreads play with a lovely cross-field pass to Pekuson on the right wing. He finds Stojanovic who held his run, and stayed on the penalty spot. He doesn't connect with the volley though, when any decent contact would've troubled Amrinder.
81' Mirabaje is booked, for saying something to the referee. Unnecessary. Mumbai are getting frustrated out here.
79' Another huge chance for Issoko! That is a beautiful pass from Goian in behind the defense to find Issoko, but Jhingan is there in time to not let the winger take a shot. Mumbai have a corner, which they play short and then Souvik plays an aimless ball into the box. Goian is challenging with Lakic-Pesic who gets the header away. Kerala have a throw, when Mumbai should have.
77' NICE from Rakip! He beats Bhumij with a brilliant piece of footwork on the right flank. His cross is towards Pekuson, but the Ghanaian's header is too meek and easy for Amrinder to claim and set Mumbai on their way.
73' Kerala have a free-kick as Goian launches himself into another tackle on the halfway line. He gets nowhere near the ball. To be fair, he made no contact on Pekuson, but when you go in as hard as that and don't win the ball, you're always liable for punishment.
71' Mumbai make their second change of the day, as Raynier makes way for Pranjal

ON - Pranjal Bhumij
OFF - Raynier Fernandes
70' Kerala make their final change of the day, as the impressive Sahal goes off.

ON - Keziron Kizito
OFF - Sahal Abdul Samad
69' Souvik Chakraborty with another massive chance for Mumbai! He did everything right, and is unfortunate to not see the net bulge. Issoko finds the ball on the left flank, and plays a beautiful through-ball for the right-back. He unleashes a shot towards the far-post, and with Dheeraj beaten, the ball sails inches wide.
68' Bastos is writhing in pain after Jhingan seemed to clatter him on his face. There's no intention there from the Kerala skipper to cause any harm, but there is contact made from Jhingan's arm to Bastos's face.
66' That was a whisker away from Stojanovic! Fantastic drive from Pekuson through midfield, and he finds Narzary on the right wing. He cuts back into his left foot and finds Stojanovic on the edge of the box. His attempted curler goes just wide though. Would have been a carbon copy of his goal from Kolkata on opening day.
65' Mumbai make their first change of the day as the below-bar Machado makes way

ON - Matias Mirabaje
OFF - Paulo Machado
64' Huge chance for Issoko! Fabulous play from Mumbai after Shouvik wins the ball in Kerala's half. Bastos plays a nice ball to Raynier, who plays a beautiful through ball to find Issoko. With Sougou in the six-yard box, he goes for the shot, and is nowhere near troubling Dheeraj.
64' Kerala go back to keeping possession well, and they needed this to break the head of steam that Mumbai were building. It is only a poor judgement from Narzary that breaks down the move, as he's off-side when he had the whole line to look across.
62' Kerala make their second change of the day, as Poplatnik goes off after a below-par display.

ON - Courage Pekuson
OFF - Matej Poplatnik
60' Sehnaj! More good Mumbai play on their right flank through Issoko. His cross is cleared away by Jhingan though. It is met on the volley by Sehnaj, whose clean strike goes well over the bar.
58' Oh my, oh my, oh my, Goian is a lucky boy! A cross from Vineeth deflects to Stojanovic who wants to bring it down on his chest but instead it's won by Raynier who deflects the ball towards Amrinder, who comes out to catch. Goian though, gets in the way and tries to clear it but it skews off his shin and just over the bar. Kerala have a corner.
57' Issoko has got in behind the Kerala defense twice in the last two minutes, but his ball into the box has been nowhere near a team-mate on both occasions. This is much better from Mumbai, against a Kerala defense that has barely been trouble thus far this season.
55' Mumbai have been much better in the opening few minutes of the second period. They have had their chances to spring forward, but their play in the final third has been shambolic.
54' Kerala make their first change, and Kochi roars for one of its own, as CK Vineeth comes on.

ON - CK Vineeth
OFF - Seiminlen Doungel
51' Chance! Kerala with another spell of penetrative possession. This time, Ruatthara advances with it on the left flank, and plays it to Narzary. He plays it into Len on the edge of the box, but his left-footed shot is more trouble for the fans behind the goal than for Amrinder.
49' Poplatnik's corner is met by Jhingan's shoulder, and Len can keep it in play for Poplatnik to swing another cross in. Amrinder comes off his line, and gets just enough on his punch, and Mumbai can clear.
48' Kerala have another corner, after another decent spell of possession. Stojanovic's cross from the right flank goes behind off Shouvik, who is in the right place at the right time again.
47' Poplatnik's corner is cleared to the edge of the box. Sahal has ripped a volley towards goal, but that is straight at Amrinder, and it's a straight-forward catch.
46' Kerala are on the attack straight away. Jhingan's long ball is flicked on by Stojanovic towards Len, and Shouvik Ghosh has to take emergency action and put it out for a corner, which Poplatnik will take.
46' PEEEEEP! Stojanovic gets us away for the second period
The players are back on the field in Kochi. Kerala Blasters have a fabulous platform to build on in this game, and they will get us underway for the second half.
45+1' PEEEEEEEEEEEPP! That's half-time and Kerala lead 1-0

Holicharan Narzary's first ISL goal has given Kerala Blasters a half-time lead in their first home game of this season. It is a lead the hosts have deserved, after having most of the play in this opening half. They could well have been up by more than just a solitary goal, had their set-pieces worked a little better. Jhingan, Krcmareic and Len all had fantastic chances from corners, but all headed over the bar.

Kerala will hope the missed chances don't come back to bite their backsides. Mumbai will hope they can make the most of the lifeline they've been given by the Blasters' inability to put this game beyond their reach.

We'll be back in a few minutes with the action from the second half in Kochi.

45+1' Brilliant chance for Kerala to spring on the break as Krcmarevic finds Len on the left wing, with a peach of a pass. The winger dwells on it for a little too long, and that is all Goian needs to pounce on it and make a tackle. Kerala have a throw-in.
44' Mumbai have grown into this game as we head towards half-time. They're not allowing Kerala to play as comfortably as they did early in the game. They are also finding a decent run going forward.
41' Fabulous play between Souvik and Raynier. They exchange a set of passes on Mumbai's right wing, to set the midfielder away to put a cross in. The cross is a testing one, but Dheeraj comes out and punches it away convincingly.
38' The free kick is a shambles. It comfortably beats Goian who is attacking it at the far-post. Narzary keeps it in play, as Goian keeps having a go at the free-kick taker Machado. It takes the Romanian a while to realise that Kerala have gone on with the play, but he then tracks back and tackles Narzary brilliantly to win a throw.
37' Issoko seems to be the out-ball for Mumbai here. They have a free-kick as he gets past Lalruatthara only to get pulled back by the young full-back
34' Well dealt with by Dheeraj. Mumbai finally get an opportunity to counter-attack with precision. Issoko travels to the byline on the right wing, and looks to cut it back for Sougou, but Dheeraj is there with an assured claim.
32' Poplatnik misses with a long shot. This is a recurring theme with Kerala and their play, with the striker missing. This is another sweeping move from the Blasters, who showcase brilliant passing yet again. It falls to Poplatnik on the edge of the area, but his left-footed strike might have missed rugby posts if they were there.
30; Poplatnik takes the corner from the right-side, and finds Krcmarevic at the far post. His header is high, wide and not very handsome.
29' Kerala keep the pressure up with a fabulous ability to hold possession. They force another corner now, as Len's shot from outside the box goes behind off a Subhasish deflection
28' Poplatnik is booked. That is as yellow card challenge as any you would see. Issoko is away on the right flank and has room to stretch his limbs. Poplatnik catches up with him, and politely shoves him down. Easy decision for the ref.
27' Kerala have been fantastic here, thus far. They are playing with the confidence of a side that has a lead after a win. They are pinging the ball around quite beautifully.

Stojanovic receives the throw, and plays a brilliant back-heel to Len. His cross is deflected into the path of Narzary, who has absolutely leathered one past Amrinder in the Mumbai goal. No chance for the goalkeeper, and Kerala have a well-deserved lead.
23' The game has now got a bit scrappy, with some meaty tackles flying in, in midfield. Mumbai have some ammunition in the tank for that kind of the battle. it's called Sehnaj Singh!
21' What a chance for Lucian Goian! That should've been 1-0 to Mumbai. Fabulous free-kick taken by Machado towards the far-post area. Dheeraj looks to come and claim, but gets well underneath it and it is met by Goian. The Romanian doesn't get good enough contact on it to direct it on target.
18' Poplatnik's corner is met by Len at the far-post. The winger attempts to head it back across goal, but gets it all wrong, and the ball goes behind for a goal-kick.
18' More good play from Kerala, as Rakip find Len in space on the right flank. His cross is towards the far post where the right-back Souvik tucks in neatly, and heads it behind for another Kerala corner.
17' Oh dear, Dheeraj! That was almost a bad howler. Raynier's shot from the right flank had barely any venom on it. But Dheeraj either lost concentration or was unsighted, because he reacted so late to that. Luckily for him, he gets down just in time.
16' That is nice from Dheeraj! Machado spots the run of Sougou and look to play him in with an early ball over the top. Dheeraj rushes over to the edge of his box and dramatically heads it away for a Mumbai throw-in.
15' Jhingan should do better. Poplatnik's corner is well-met by the Kerala captain, but he puts his header over the bar. That was not a difficult header to put on target, at the very least.
14' Mumbai's inability to pass nearly lands them in trouble. Poplatnik is the beneficiary as he picks up a stray ball in midfield and slides Stojanovic through. His first touch is too heavy, and his shot is eventually blocked by Goian. Kerala have a corner.
12' It looks like Mumbai have caught the ATK bug. They haven't strung two passes together yet. The ATK bug is harmful to viewers watching the game, so hopefully the Islanders can grow into it rather soon.
10' The Blasters have started off brilliantly here. They are playing some really neat football, and troubling the Mumbai rearguard, where Subhasish and Goian would like being a little less occupied.
9' The corner is played short to Narzary but his ball over to the far-post is punched out easily by a confident Amrinder.
8' Mumbai concede an unnecessary corner, as Subhasish's pass to Amrinder is woefully placed. The goalkeeper's best attempts to keep it in play are in vain.
6' Remember, Mumbai have never won in Kochi, having lost one and drawn three. They've also scored only one goal away to the Blasters.
4' Lakic-Pesic is booked for an awful tackle on Machado. Action-packed start to this game. That was unnecessary right on the halfway line from the Serb.
3' Saved by Amrinder! Beautiful football from Kerala. Poplatnik sets Narzary away on the left side, and he plays a perfect cross to Len, who does everything right. The big goalkeeper sticks his left boot out and makes a massive save. Proof as to why he's one of the best in the country.
3' Sehnaj Singh has made his first Sehnaj Singh tackle of the day. Krcmarevic wins the header, Sehnaj arrives an eon later and smacks him on the back. Kerala have another free-kick, but nothign came of that either.
2' Poplatnik takes it, but Subhasish clears easily, and Kerala have a throw-in.
2' Free-kick in a rather useful position for Kerala right by the right touchline, as Raynier fouls Krcmarevic.
1' Goian gets a hold of the ball on the halfway line, and looks to set Sougou away with a long through ball. But that is too close to Dheeraj, and the youngster comes and claims easily.
1' PEEEEEEEEEPP! We're off. Kerala to keep their winning run going, Mumbai to pick up their first points of the season. Let's go!
We're all but ready for kickoff here in Kochi. Jhingan and Amrinder swap pennants, shake hands, pose for the obligatory photo. Mumbai will kick us off in just a bit.
I've just picked up Lucian Goian singing the Indian National Anthem with his Indian team-mates. That is, well, brilliant!
Time for Jana Gana Mana in Kochi
The two teams give a guard of honour to the heroes from Kerala. They receive a memento from Mohanlal on behalf of the Kerala Blasters.
As with everything tonight, the theme of the Manjappada banner also revolves around the state's fightback from the floods.
Ten minutes away from kick-off at Kochi. We will be underway very shortly, as Jhingan and Amrinder head the queues in the tunnel.
Absolutely mad scenes from the JLN in Kochi. The Blasters fans are once again proving that they are an unbelievable bunch with utmost passion!
Tonight, Sandesh Jhingan breaks a record. The Kerala Blasters skipper, with his 60th ISL appearance, will become the most capped player in ISL history, surpassing Iain Hume and Mandar Rao Desai for the time-being.
Once again, David James decides that four foreigners from the start will be enough for his side. it is refreshing to see a manager trust him young Indian players as much as James has thus far this season.
Klisura, Rafique, Bipin and Sanju Pradhan go out for Mumbai City. In come Shouvik, Raynier, Issoko and Sehnaj in their places.

The Blasters will be sporting special kits today, to honour Kerala's heroes. We've got 5 minutes to go to know which eleven represent those heroes tonight on the pitch in Kochi.
We've got half an hour to go for team news from Kochi. Will Kerala give Vineeth a start? Will Mumbai bring in Raynier? Questions that we'll all have answers to, in 30 minutes.

Kerala Blasters v Mumbai City FC Preview

Two sides with contrasting starts to their respective ISL seasons face off at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi tonight. David James's Kerala Blasters are flying high after a fabulous victory against ATK on the opening day of the season. Matej Poplatnik and Slavisa Stojanovic were impressive for the Blasters in the opening game, and as they gear up for their first game of the season, they will be vital cogs in the wheel once again.

James only picked 4 foreigners to start the last game, but that might not be the case today, after Courage Pekuson's performance in the last game, as a half-time substitute. The Ghanaian is likely to replace Sahal Abdul Samad in the starting XI, and partner Nikola Krcmarevic in midfield.

Mumbai City had their own problems in the last game. While they were well-beaten by Jamshedpur, their midfield and attack just could not get going. Modou Sougou and Rafael Bastos will be crucial again, while there is a possibility that Raynier Fernandes comes into the starting XI to replace Sanju Pradhan.

An emotional night is expected in Kochi, as football returns after tragedy struck during the off-season, with the floods wreaking havoc across the state. There is nothing quite like football to unite the people of Kerala, and tonight, for Sandesh Jhingan, for David James, for Manjappada, there is only one thing in mind - They do this for the people of Kerala.
