Till then, this is Shashwat Kumar signing off! Goodbye and goodnight!
PEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPP!! It ends all square in Kochi as Kerala and NorthEast share the spoils!
Two of the ISL's bottom dwellers played out a rather scruffy encounter with the game extremely low on the quality quotient. The hosts enjoyed the majority of possession yet never looked like creating anything of note. However, NorthEast's moment of madness in the first half allowed them to surge ahead, meaning that they enjoyed a one-goal advantage at the break.
After the restart, the referee took matters into his own hands when he appallingly handed the visitors a penalty despite the ball striking Seityasen on the face. Gyan stepped up and made no mistake to draw NorthEast level.
Post the equaliser, both sides searched for a winner, although that remained elusive. And, while it wasn't for a lack of effort, it was due to an alarming lack of quality.

Thus, with the ISL moving closer towards its home stretch, both teams might be left with more than a furrowed brow in the aftermath of the contest on Saturday
90+5' Jessel's corner is swung in at the near post and it nearly finds its way into the back of the net. But, Gallego gets a vital touch and NorthEast breathe a sigh of relief
90+5' Prasanth's deep cross finds Ogbeche and the latter controls well. But, just as he is about to pull the trigger, Komorski comes around and clears the ball. The resulting throw-in is also cleared, although the hosts have a corner in the final minute
90+3' Prasanth strides down the left and drills in a cross. Apuia makes a meal of his clearance but fortunately, it falls tamely to Subhasish who can mop it up
90+2' Gallego makes some space for himself on the left flank and shifts the ball onto his right foot. He looks to curl it in towards the back stick but over-hits it, yet again
90+2' NorthEast progress down the right but can't conjure a half-decent cross as Moustapha clears the ball comfortably
A minimum of five minutes to be added on!
90+1' Rakip again gives the ball away but NorthEast can't make Kerala pay as Apuia's lobbed pass for Chaves is too heavy. How many times have we said that today!
90' The resulting corner is disappointing and Ninthoi strides away from the Kerala midfielders. But, they get a vital challenge in just past the half-way line to clear the ball into touch
89' Kerala are just a little too clever for their own good as their training ground routine only earns them a corner. Surely they would have been better off having a pop at goal directly!
87' Heerings goes to ground and gets the ball off Ogbeche. In the process, the ball hits him on the chest and the referee astonishingly awards a free-kick for hand-ball on the edge of the box. Can Kerala make the most of it?
86' Drobarov gives away a cheap corner but Kerala get away with it as the delivery is cleared easily by Messi Bouli. NorthEast try to recycle it to Gallego on the right but the pass has too much weight on it. Goal-kick for Kerala
85' Another scrappy passage of play ensues but this time, NorthEast manage to come away with it with purpose. Gallego finds himself in space on the edge of the box but his Cruyff turn is read by the Blasters' rear-guard as another attack comes to nothing
83' Final change for NorthEast! Ninthoi replaces Redeem!
82' The game has slowed down considerably in the past few minutes and the players are feeling the effects of the humid climate in Kochi. Can either side muster enough energy to have a say in the dying moments?
80' Chaves is found on the left with a superb long pass and the Uruguayan finds Gallego in midfield. However, the latter puts too much weight on his attempted pass as it lobs over Redeem for a throw-in
79' A smashing cross-field pass is pinged towards Redeem but his touch just lets him down, meaning that Jessel has the chance to get the ball away for a corner
78' Redeem wins the ball in midfield and Gyan finds Gallego. Gallego curls in a wonderful pass for the advancing Reagan but his elaborate back-heel isn't ready by Milan. And, the attack eventually comes to nothing
Another change for NorthEast! Triadis replaced by Gallego!
Can the returning midfielder provide the spark tonight?
74' Moustapha and Gyan clash while challenging for an aerial ball and the latter is left in a heap
In the meantime, Rahul KP has also replaced Seityasen!
72' Change for NorthEast! Puitea goes off and Milan Singh comes on!
70' Triadis strikes the post after getting free on the left edge of the box but the referee has already blown his whistle, although the reason still remains a mystery. Maybe, it could have been for the foul by Chaves on Drobarov
69' NorthEast launch a long ball forward for Chaves, who controls it well on the left flank. But, his delivery is poor and he only manages to pick out Rehenesh
68' Puitea latches onto a loose ball in the box and swivels beautifully as he gets away a left-footed volley. Unfortunately, he can't get enough power as Rehenesh catches it with ease
66' Triadis gets just a little too over-ambitious as he tries a couple of strikes from improbable situations, only to waste possession
63' Ogbeche skips past a couple of challenges and feeds Prasanth. The Indian returns the favour and finds his skipper in the box but Ogbeche makes a mess of it as the ball is cleared partially. The ball again finds its way to PRasanth, who makes a rather embarrassing claim for a penalty.
NorthEast spring the break instantly and Triads marauds his way down the left flank but Rakip does just enough to get a toe and put the ball behind for a corner
62' Apuia is shown a yellow card!
The midfielder stops an impending counter-attack and deservedly goes into the book for bringing down Ogbeche
61' Triadis and Gyan work the ball on the left before going slightly backwards for Pradhan. The Indian whips in a beautiful cross that is headed over his own goal by Jessel
60' Another bit of indecisive goalkeeping by Subhasish allows Kerala to recycle the ball and set up a shot. Fortunately for the visitors, the strike is way wide off the target
60' This time, Kerala pinch the ball in midfield and Prasanth finds Ogbeche on the inside left channel. The skipper hangs the ball up at the back post where Komorski just out-jumps Messi to head the ball behind
58' Redeem fires wide!
NorthEast win the ball in midfield and feed Gyan. The latter holds the ball up, waits for the right moment and then releases Redeem. The Indian takes a couple of touches before firing his shot just wide of the far post. Another chance missed by the visitors
56' Kerala clip a free-kick deep into the box and Messi wins it at the back post. He nods it down for Ogbeche but Komorski does just enough to hoof the ball up-field
54' Kerala win the ball in midfield and Messi strides towards goal. He crosses for Ogbeche but the ball pin-balls in the box before it is claimed by the keeper
54' Gyan is also given a yellow card for a stray arm!
52' Jessel too goes into the book!
50' GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!! Gyan restores parity!
Gyan coolly steps up and slots the ball into the corner to the keeper's left and the traditional Gyan celebration is out. NorthEast would do well to thank the referee for that!
48' Penalty for NorthEast!
Triadis and Pradhan link up well on the left and the latter whips in a cross and it strikes Seityasen on the face. But, somehow, the referee decides to point to the spot. My word, the referee hasn't covered himself in any sort of glory here. A late christmas present for the visitors
48' Kerala get the ball to Prasanth on the left flank and the winger tries to churn out a cross. But, he skies it horribly as the ball goes straight into touch
47' Moustapha has slotted in as a centre-back with Jeakson operating in midfield
46' Chaves tries to progress down the left flank and indulges in a bit of trickery. But, Rakip is up to the task as he times his challenge to perfection to nick the ball off the Uruguayan
PEEEEEEEEPPPPPPP!!!! NorthEast get the ball rolling in the second half!
Peeeeeeeppppp! The referee blows the whistle and Kerala enter the break with a one-goal cushion!
Kerala began the better of the two outfits as they immediately dominated the ball and kept moving it from side to side. However, clear-cut opportunities were hard to come by with Prasanth going closest with his left-footed volley.
At the other end, NorthEast, despite not enjoying a lot of possession, carved out a few openings, with the majority falling to Gyan. Rather uncharacteristically though, the striker fluffed his lines whereas he also had a seemingly legitimate goal ruled out for off-side.
Ultimately, the visitors shot themselves in the foot when Subhasish inexplicably brought down Ogbeche and the latter dispatched his spot-kick with aplomb to hand the hosts a one-goal lead.

Do join us in a short while for the second half!
Change for Kerala! Gaikwad succumbs to his injury and the hosts bring on Jeakson in his stead!
45+2' NorthEast line up a long throw from the left but eventually decide to go short. It doesn't come off though as Chaves handles on the left edge of the box, handing Kerala a timely free-kick before half-time
45' Gaikwad is on the turf and he has a slight grimace on his face. Surely that can't be another injury for Kerala, could it? He also receives a yellow card!
43' GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!! Ogbeche scores!!
Ogbeche goes to the keeper's left and though Subhasish guesses the right way, the penalty is struck sweetly and is also firmly in the bottom corner. Brilliant spot-kick by the Kerala skipper. NorthEast only have themselves to blame though
41' Kerala have a penalty! O! Subhasish, what have you done!
Ogbeche nicks in ahead of SUbhasish and the latter clumsily brings him down on the right edge of the box. Not the smartest bit of keeping and the keeper earns himself a yellow for his troubles
40' Seityasen turns in midfield and plays in Rakip on the right. The full-back drills in a cross but it fails to find Messi. NorthEast come away with the ball
39' Change for Kerala! Sahal goes off and Messi comes on! Boy, that's a huge statement from Schattorie!
37' Seityasen goes into the book!
The winger pulls Pradhan back and becomes the first player to be shown a yellow card tonight
36' Gyan scores but the flag is raised for off-side!
Puitea plays a sublime through-ball for Gyan in the inside left channel and the latter finishes clinically past Rehenesh. But, just as he embarks on his celebratory run, the assistant raises his flag for off-side. Replays suggest that the striker was on-side, considering Jessel's position. Oh, my word! Another refereeing decision gone wrong, although this one was quite tight
34' Moustapha heads over!
Carneiro whips in a cross from the right and Moustapha towers above Heerings. Unfortunately, the Senegalese powers his header over the bar as another chance goes begging
33' Subhasish saves!
Arques gets a shot on goal and also gets the ball to go over the ball and dip back in time. But, his shot is telegraphed by Subhasish who punches it behind for a corner
32' Seityasen finds Arques in the inside right channel and the latter beats his man on the outside, before drilling in a cross. But, the delivery is short and is cleared easily. From the resulting passage of play, Kerala get the ball to Ogbeche, who holds off Heerings before the NorthEast defender fouls him. A promising position for the Blasters. 25 yards from goal
31' Sahal is back on the pitch and he looks fine to continue!
30' Now, Triadis gives the ball away to Sahal before the latter is hacked down by Apuia. The Kerala midfielder looks in pain and is still on the deck
28' Seityasen brings Chaves down on the right flank and NorthEast have a promising free-kick situation. But, they completely waste it as Chaves' delivery is straight into the midriff of the goalkeeper
28' Gaikwad gives the ball away to Gyan and NorthEast build from the back. They distribute the ball to Reagan, who gives it away
26' Puieta makes a purposeful run down the right flank and finds Reagan on the overlap. The defender clips a ball into the box but it has too much height, meaning that Rehenesh gathers it comfortably
24' Prasanth rides a couple of challenges on the right flank and tries to get goal-side of Pradhan to whip in a cross. But, he just runs out of room as the defender sticks to his guns
22' For all of Kerala's dominance in possession, the clearest chances have fallen to NorthEast and Gyan. Astonishingly though, the Ghanaian has fluffed his lines on both occasions
21' Seityasen causes Reagan a few problems before he curls in a delicious cross for Ogbeche. Unfortunately, it just eludes the Kerala skipper as NorthEast survive again
20' Gyan blazes over!
Rakip gives the ball away to Puieta and he finds Gyan swiftly. The latter takes a couple of touches, sets himself up but then inexplicably, blazes his shot over the bar. Massive chance for the visitors
19' Moustapha again tries to pick the lock and plays a wonderful pass in between the lines for Ogbeche. However, his skipper can't find the run of Sahal as the through-ball is again over-hit
18' Rakip is sent free on the right flank and he whips in a devilish cross but there are no takers as the ball is cleared away
16' Prasanth slides in and wins the ball in midfield. He gets Moustapha on the ball who tries to pick out the run of Seityasen in the inside right channel. However, the pass is just a little heavy as Subhasish claims it easily
15' Moustapha picks out Prasanth in midfield who spreads the ball wide on the right. But, Rakip's cross is just a tad too deep as Heerings heads it away
13' Gyan holds off his marker after NorthEast capitalise on Sahal's mistake and feed the ball to the Ghanaian. He curls in a pass for the willing run of Redeem but the Indian makes a complete hash of his attempted cross as it falls straight to Rehenesh
11' Gyan heads wide!
Rehenesh needlessly comes flapping at a free-kick from the left and Gyan nicks in ahead of him. However, rather surprisingly, the striker's header flies wide of the post as Kerala survive. Not the best bit of keeping though
9' Seityasen's resulting corner is whipped in at the near post and it somehow finds its way to Subhasish. Thankfully for NorthEast though, the keeper is alert as he parries it behind for another corner
8' Subhasish saves!
Komorski heads clear a ball aimed for Ogbeche but it falls to Prasanth on the left edge of the box. He controls it and unleashes a volley at goal which is pushed behind for a corner by the keeper
7' Moustapha wins the ball in midfield and Kerala enjoy another spell of possession. But, they pass the ball around in their defensive third as NorthEast defend in two banks of four. But, a mistake prompts Kerala to move forward, although the visitors do just enough to get the ball away
6' Seityasen turns in midfield and spots the run of Prasanth. He releases the ball behind the defensive line but it is just a touch heavy as Subhashish comes out and gathers
4' A bit of fancy footwork by Triadis releases Pradhan but he is tackled well by Rakip. The defender feeds Seityasen, whose early ball is too far in front of Ogbeche as NorthEast bring the ball forward
4' Rakip tries to lift the ball forward for Seityasen but Komorski shepherds the ball into touch for a goal-kick
3' Kerala again enjoy possession and shift the ball well from side to side. But, after finding Jessel on the left, they go all the way back to the keeper
1' Raju Gaikwad hoists a long ball forward but it is easily cut out by the visitors. Kerala try to make something of it second time round but fail to do so
Peeeeeeppp!!! Kerala get us underway!
The national anthems are done! Both teams have finished the customary handshake! We are just moments away from the start of this clutch encounter!

Here we go!
NorthEast would be glad that they've been able to welcome Gyan into the starting line-up. Whenever the Ghanaian has been missing, the Highlanders haven't looked as dangerous going forward.
Kerala have regularly lacked a cutting edge in attack and have also looked slightly devoid of ideas at times. Thus, Schattorie would be hoping the combination of Ogbeche and Sahal does the trick today.
NorthEast United XI: Subhasish Roy (GK), Rakesh Pradhan, Mislav Komorski, Reagan Singh, Heerings Kai, Panagiotis Triadis, Redeem Tlang, Lalthathanga Khawlhring, Lalengmawia, Martin Chaves, Asamoah Gyan (C).
Kerala Blasters XI: TP Rehenesh (GK), Jessel Carneiro, Vlatko Drobarov, Mohamad Rakip, Raju Gaikwad, Mario Arques, Mouhamadou Gning, Seityasen Singh, Prasanth Karuthadathkuni, Sahal Abdul Samad, Bartholomew Ogbeche (C).
Head to Head Record!
Kerala and NorthEast have played each other 10 times in the ISL, with the former having enjoyed the better of the exchanges. The Blasters have won 5 encounters whereas the Highlanders have been on the winning side only thrice, with two matches ending in stalemates.
Total Matches Played: 10 matches
Kerala: 5 wins
NorthEast: 3 wins
Draw: 2 draws
NorthEast, on the other hand, have lost a touch of steam after a rather promising beginning. In the process, they've stitched together a win-less run that dates back to the 6th of November.
Akin to Kerala, the Highlanders have also endured their fair share of injuries with one such ailment ruling their talisman, Asamoah Gyan out for a few games.
Unsurprisingly, in the absence of the Ghanaian, NorthEast have struggled for goals and have frequently painted a dreary picture in the attacking third.
To put things into further perspective, the Highlanders have only rippled the net 8 times in 8 matches, meaning that they average a paltry goal a game ratio whereas their tally is also the lowest in the league.
Thus, there are problems aplenty at NorthEast, both offensively and defensively, considering they've also shipped in 11 during that period.
Consequently, they find themselves in an eerily similar predicament to the Blasters, wherein the Highlanders simply don't have too much margin for error.
Kerala Blasters come into the encounter having not won since the opening day of their campaign, when they nudged past ATK in Kochi. The past couple of months have seen the Southern outfit find new ways to relinquish the initiative and subsequently, weaken their own credentials for a spot in the four.
Additionally, they haven't been aided by injuries, although some of their offensive and defensive football has often left an awful lot to be desired.
Yet, here they find themselves, in front of a potentially raucous crowd, urging them on for that elusive victory, a win that could possibly act as the watershed moment Eelco Schattorie has been waiting for.
However, if anything of that is to transpire, the Blasters need to forego their tendency to hand the opposition points on a platter.
And, if they realistically wish to make something of a floundering season, the charge has to come sooner rather than later.
After all, time is luxury they most certainly don't enjoy in the current circumstances.
