KER vs ODI Match Result - ISL 2019-20
Kerala Blasters
0 - 0
Right! That's it from us here at Sportskeeda! Do follow the website for all the latest news and updates regarding the ISL! We'll also be back with tomorrow's coverage of the encounter between ATK and Jamshedpur FC!

Till then, this is Shashwat Kumar signing off. Goodbye and goodnight!
The game started off in scrappy fashion and both teams found it tough to find any rhythm. Moreover, the injuries piled up for both sides, meaning that neither was able to stitch together enough flowing moves. The biggest talking point of the match was obviously the penalty that Kerala were denied after Sahal was tripped in the penalty area by Narayan Das.
In the second half too, clear-cut chances were at a premium with Rahul coming closest in the dying stages of the game. Apart from that, both teams managed a grand total of 1 shot apiece on target, thereby illustrating their dire offensive displays.
However, after their recent run of form, Kerala wouldn't really mind a point, considering they'd gone two games without one whereas Odisha would be happy to not taste defeat for the third time this season
Peeeepppppp! Full time in Kochi and both teams end the game as they started! The match finishes 0-0 as Kerala are left to rue their dominance!
90+2' Kerala whip in one final cross and like most of the crosses today, it has been cleared comfortably
90+1' Kerala attack down the left and get in a good cross. But, it is just nicked away from Ogbeche as the forward was setting himself up for a shot. Crucial intervention
90+1' Rahul gets across his man and tries to send in a cross. It takes a deflection and nestles into the goalkeeper's palms
A minimum of two minutes have been added on!
89' Xisco's delivery is deep and Kerala do enough to get it clear of the danger area. Kerala have really been convincing defending set-pieces today. Probably the biggest positive they can take from the encounter
88' Xisco wins the ball in midfield and spreads the ball. The ball eventually finds its way to Jerry who sets up Daniel for a long-range shot. His strike though, takes a deflection and goes out for a corner
86! What a save by Dorronsoro!
Prasanth crosses the ball into the area and Ogbeche flicks it towards Rahul at the far post. The youngster lines up his shot but is expertly thwarted by the Odisha keeper at his near post. Top save. Could perhaps ensure a point for the visitors today
84' Another scrappy passage of play sees both sides jump into tackles before Odisha put the ball out for a throw-in. This game hasn't been the greatest advert of the ISL, one must admit
83' Both sets of players have been guilty of taking a touch too many today and that trait again comes to the fore as Prasanth is caught napping in Odisha's half
81' Nandhakumar and Narayan work the ball well on the left wing but the latter delays his pass just a touch, meaning that the former ventured off-side. And, another attack comes to nothing
80' Prasanth embarks on another one of his trademark runs from the left but he is halted just outside the penalty area with a perfectly-timed challenge
78' Ogbeche comes on and the crowd welcomes him with a huge cheer! He replaces Rafi!
77' Kerala pinch the ball in midfield and try to mount an attack. However, Sahal is fouled near the centre circle as the hosts are accorded a chance to build again
75' Narayan Das tries to cross the ball into the centre but gets it terribly wrong. In turn, he slices it so badly that it worries Rehenesh for a split second before just flying over the crossbar. Definitely not a shot but also the closest Odisha have come today. That just sums up their performance so far
74' Odisha fail to make the most of their corners in quick succession as they fail to find a requisite cross for their players to attack. And, the score still remains scoreless
73' Xisco pulls out his bag of tricks and manufactures an opening for himself after a cheeky nutmeg. He curls in a cross off the outside of his boot but it is cleared. He gets another opportunity to deliver but the Kerala defence is up to the task as they put it out for a corner
70' Now it's Xisco's turn to line up a long-range shot. But, he too slashes the ball wide of the near post as Rehenesh watches the ball hit the advertising hoarding on the full
69' Sahal whips in a devilish cross and Dorronsoro comes out to collect. He fumbles though and is lucky that none of the other Kerala players were following in. Kerala are beginning to impose their identity on the game and are carving out half-chances
68' Appeal for handball but the referee isn't interested!
Prasanth's shot is blocked by Narayan but the ball trickles onto his arm after striking his foot. That didn't look like a penalty. Kerala have a corner though. However, they waste it as the delivery fails to clear the man at the front post
65' Jerry is sent free by Xisco on the right flank and Rehenesh absolutely clatters into him. It wouldn't have mattered though, considering the off-side flag had been raised. The forward gets up slightly gingerly after the collision
65' Guedes tries his luck from distance again but the result remains the same as his wild shot finds a place among the supporters
62' Sahal is growing into the game and he sets another attack in motion. He finds Prasanth on the right side who cuts inside a couple of challenges before unleashing a left-footed shot that rises over the bar
61' Carneiro loses the ball courtesy a loose touch but then regains it before trying to find Sahal's run through the middle. However, Dorronsoro telegraphs the idea and is out to clear the danger instantly. Good goalkeeping
60' Raju Gaikwad lines up a speculative shot from all of 35 yards. But, he fails to muster enough conviction as his sliced effort flies wide. Quite an optimistic attempt by the defender
58' Chance for Nandhakumar!
Jerry whips in a delightful cross from the right flank after being fed by Xisco. Rehenesh makes a complete mess of it as he gets caught under the flight of the ball. Luckily for him though, Nandhakumar only manages to ripple the side netting with his volley
55' Dorronsoro plays with a bit of fire and escapes as he just about evades Sahal's high press with a Cruyff turn. Twitchy moment from the Odisha keeper there
54' Narayan Das is found superbly on the overlap but he only fires a tame cross straight at Rehenesh. The keeper would feast on that sort of delivery all day. The offensive quality quotient has been alarmingly low so far
53' Guedes receives the ball in the inside-left channel and lines up a shot. He proceeds with his strike but blazes it horribly over the bar
51' Mohammed Rafi goes down under a strong challenge and there are countless furrowed brows in Kochi. Hopefully it isn't too serious.
And, fortunately, it doesn't look to be too threatening. The forward jarred his neck on contact but is ready to re-enter the field of play
50' Sahal tries to inject a bit of impetus and goes biting into a challenge. He wins the ball but a heavy touch means that Diagne can launch the ball clear
48' Kerala have expertly restricted the spaces in between the defence and midfield, thereby ridding Xisco of any opportunity to receive the ball and run at the defence or pick out one of his forward runners
47' Odisha enjoy early possession and are looking for openings. But so far, they haven't been able to stitch together anything meaningful
Marcos Tebar has gone off and Guedes has replaced the Odisha skipper!
Peeeppp! The second half is up and running!
Hello and welcome back to our coverage! The players are back onto the field!
Kerala will get us underway
Peeeeeppp! The referee blows the whistle and the first half comes to an end! Both teams enter the break deadlocked at 0-0!

Kerala slightly edged the opening period but there was hardly anything of note that either side conjured. The closest bit of goal-mouth action saw Sahal being brought down by Narayan Das in the penalty area, only for a spot-kick to not be awarded. Apart from that, both sides sparred as injuries and substitutions sucked the momentum out of the game.

Do join us in a while for the second half!
45+3' Smart work by Xisco gets him free on the right flank. But his cross is straight at Hakku. Odisha gain possession again and Xisco crosses. This time too, it is cleared by Kerala and the threat has been averted
45+2' Carneiro spots Rahul's run and feeds him down the left flank. The latter strides into the box purposefully before he loses control of the ball. Odisha eventually clear the danger
A minimum of five minutes have been added on at the end of the first half!
45' Daniel comes on for Rana!
44' Carneiro finds himself in space on the left flank and whips in a cross that Odisha clear easily. However, Kerala recycle the ball and Rafi curls in a cross towards the penalty spot. Rahul rushes in but skies his attempted volley
42' Jerry releases Nandhakumar on the right flank courtesy a perfectly-weighted through ball. But, unfortunately, the winger puts too much on the cross as the ball trickles past the outside line on the opposite flank
41' The ball changes hands in midfield and Odisha come away with the ball after a rather strong challenge on Sahal. But, they are unable to make the most of it as Kerala get hold of the ball
39' Diagne tries to pick out Nandhakumar on the right flank as the latter looks to run in behind the Kerala defence. However, the pass is too heavy and it rolls out of bounds for a goal-kick
37' The injuries have played a massive role in the encounter not generating a head of steam. Though both teams have looked to penetrate the opposition, nothing has come to fruition yet. Another Odisha attack is nipped out in a bud as Rakip clears the ball away easily
35' Sahal skips past numerous challenges in midfield and seems to get tripped by Narayan Das inside the penalty area. But, the referee waives away his appeal and is unmoved. Replays show that there was enough contact. That's a stone-walled penalty. Astonishing that the referee missed that
33' Odisha build up play patiently but they aren't able to find any gaps to play telling passes. They went forward hoping to carve out an opening on the right before retreating
31' Carneiro whips in a free-kick from the left flank but his cross is too deep and is comfortably handled by Dorronsoro. Not the best cross he'll put in all day
30' Mohammed Rafi comes on for the injured Messi Bouli!
29' Carlos Delgado comes on for Aridane Santana
27' Aridane is still getting treated for a cut he received on his head during the collision with Messi. Carlos Delgado is being readied to come on in his stead.
Messi, meanwhile, has been taken off on a stretcher and he looks incredibly dazed. He seems to have come off worse. Hope he recovers swiftly
24' A nasty collision in the box brings about a stoppage in play. Aridane and Messi wholeheartedly went for the ball and clashed into each other. Aridane has blood all over his hands. This doesn't look good
22' Gning tries to play Messi through but his pass his cut out. He has another attempted cross cleared, from which Odisha spring a counter. Xisco finds Nandhakumar on the left flank but the latter's delivery into the box is headed away for a corner
21' Kerala clear the corner with ease as they win the first header. A bit of pin-ball follows in the middle third before the referee bows the whistle for a foul by Odisha
20' Vinit finds Jerry on the right flank with a superb diagonal. The winger gets past one challenge but the covering defender pokes the ball out of play. Odisha have a corner
18' Prasanth tries to get himself free on the right wing but a retreating Nandhakumar dispossesses him. Kerala though win the ball almost instantly and work the ball towards their winger on the right. However, he fails to control a long pass as the ball goes out for an Odisha throw
15' Appeal for a penalty!
The referee though is unmoved as the ball, on first look, struck the defender's chest rather than his arm. Further replays might paint a better picture.
Replays confirm that Sergio's header indeed struck Diagne on the chest
15' Sahal's shot deflects off Diagne and Kerala have another corner on the left. But, again the delivery is overcooked as it evades those in attendance in the box
14' Aridane turns his man beautifully and feeds Nandhakumar on the left. But the winger is dispossessed easily as Kerala recycle the ball and eventually earn themselves a foul in their defensive half
13' Both sides haven't gotten into any passing rhythm so far. Kerala again try to release Prasanth down the right wing but the ball is much more central, allowing Odisha to mop up the danger
11' Kerala nick the ball in midfield and look to release Messi early. But, the ball is over-hit and it harmlessly runs out of play on the right side
9' Kerala have started the better of the two sides and have enjoyed more of the ball. A fine pass finds Rahul on the left flank but he takes a bit to long on the ball, thereby allowing Odisha to get back into shape
8' Kerala press the ball high up the pitch and force the Odisha keeper to play the ball long. Kerala intercept the aerial pass before Sarangi commits a foul on the left flank
6' Corner for Kerala on the right!
The hosts try a short-corner routine but it is read well by Odisha who sniff out the danger easily. Surely could've hoisted the ball into the box, especially with the match in its nascent stages
6' Kerala enjoy their first good spell of possession but it comes to nothing as the long ball towards Messi is cleared easily by Diagne
5' Abdul Hakku comes on for Jairo!
2' Further injury misery for Kerala!
Kerala skipper, Jairo Rodrigues goes down clutching his right hamstring. That doesn't seem good and he's hobbling off the pitch. Not the start Kerala would've wanted
1' The early indications are that Kerala are looking to press Odisha high up the pitch and deny the visitors the time to build from the back. One such effort leads to Odisha hoofing the ball aimlessly towards TP Rehenesh
The referee blows the whistle and we are underway!
Odisha FC get us started
The crowd roars vociferously as the players make their way onto the pitch. Time for the national anthem
We are just a few minutes away from action. The stage is set for the ISL to return to where it all started on the 20th of October
Today represents the first meeting between Kerala Blasters and Odisha FC. However, the Blasters did play Delhi Dynamos, the team that has been renamed as Odisha FC, on 12 occasions. The pair shared the spoils 4 times whereas each won 4 encounters apiece. Something has to give tonight
Team News! Sahal Abdul Samad starts for the Blasters!

Kerala Blasters XI: TP Rehenesh (GK), Mohamad Rakip, Jairo Rodrigues (C), Raju Gaikwad, Mouhamadou Gning, Prasanth Karuthadathkuni, Jessel Carneiro, Rahul KP,  Sahal Abdul Samad, Sergio Cidoncha, Messi Bouli

Odisha FC XI: Francisco Dorronsoro (GK), Diawandou Diagne, Marcos Tebar (C), Aridane Santana, Xisco Hernandez, Shubham Sarangi, Vinit Rai, Jerry Mawihmingthanga, Narayan Das, Nandhakumar Sekar, Rana Gharami
The Blasters won on the opening day of the 2019-20 season of the ISL as they posted a narrow 2-1 victory over ATK. However, since then, the Kochi-based outfit has only managed a solitary goal in their next two matches, while they've conceded three. Moreover, they have a host of stars missing, meaning that their fringe players have been thrown into the deep end earlier than expected. Thus, on paper, the Blasters seem to have more questions than answers currently. Yet, in front of a boisterous crowd, they could turn it all around against Odisha tonight.

Do stay tuned to see how this narrative pans out!
A week ago, Odisha rocked up at the Mumbai Football Arena having lost both their opening two fixtures. Yet, against Mumbai City FC, they showcased immense confidence and courage to stick to their attacking guns, despite several asking for a slightly more circumspect approach. Consequently, they lit up a sparsely populated stadium on the western coast of India as they romped to a 4-2 victory.

Josep Gombau’s men were propelled by their attacking trio of Aridane Santana, Jerry and Xisco Hernandez with the former Bengaluru FC man delivering his best performance this season.

Thus, Odisha arrive at Kochi full of confidence, especially after their effervescent brand of football bore fruit against Mumbai. However, the same can hardly be said about the Kerala Blasters, who have slightly fallen off a cliff after winning their opening encounter
