Oh, and goodnight! We all need a good night's sleep after this.

Well, that was a match what experts the world over will call a 'chess match'. For you and me, that translates to Oh My Good Lord that was so damn boring! It was a war of the managers that Mourinho clearly won, his aim was to neutralise and defend, and that is exactly what United did for ninety minutes, with more than a little help from David De Gea. Boy, that guy is good. Young did his job, Herrera was brilliant, Fellaini dominant and Pogba invisible. Liverpool looked bereft of ideas till Adam Lallana took to the field, but the Englishman showed just how important he is to the team by creating numerous chances with his intelligent running. Matip and Lovren were solid, Karius was shaky, but untested, Milner hardworking as ever, Firmino and Mane willing runners, but it was Phillipe Coutinho who was the stand player on the pitch. For both sides. Peep! Peep! Fulltime!!!

It's scoreless in a fixture that had more excitement in the build-up than in the match proper

...

93' Under no pressure whatsoever, Matip plays the ball out of play. Story of the match.

...

92' SUBSTITUTION - Young OFF, Shaw ON. One minute left, and Mourinho makes a substitution. What a jolly bundle of positive energy that man is, eh?

...

91' YELLOW for Fellaini. In other news, the Earth is round.

...

90' Pogba hurdles Henderson's foul - all gangly limbed and switching on full-power mode he is a sight to watch sometimes. But its such a shame he can't find any consistency

...

89' Can plays a superb ball forward, but Origi is offside

...

88' Pogba forgets that Rooney is on in place of Rashford and puts too much pace in his pass. Rooney can barely just make it.

...

87' Wayne Rooney is playing right back. How the mighty have fallen

...

86' Now that Rashford is out of the way, there is no one of any real pace that can trouble Liverpool. Moreno is an attacking substitution - make no mistake.

...

Moreno has dyed his hair blonde. It looks so bad.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH ALL THESE FOOTBALLERS!!!

...

84' SUBSTITUTION - Firmino OFF, Origi ON. Milner OFF, Moreno ON

...

83' WHAT A TACKLE VALENCIA!!!! Coutinho plays in Firmino and the Brazilian is running through on goal, but the Ecuadorian does exceptionally well to time his tackle and nick the ball off Firmino's toes

...

82' Milner's ball into the box skips everyone in red, or blue. Clyne's shot is weak

...

80' Blind's corner is met by Fellaini, but the Belgian's header is well wide

...

79' United keep the ball amongst themselves. Anfield lets their derision be well known. Valencia rampages down the right and wins United a corner.

...

78' Ashley Young buys United some breathing space, but the ball is right back at Liverpool's feet.

...

77' Milner skips past Rooney with embarrassing ease, but he's crowded out. Liverpool are camped in the United third right now

...

76' SUBSTITUTION - Marcus Rashford OFF, Croxteth's very own Wayne Rooney ON

...

75' OOOOO OFFSIDE FIRMINO. Narrowly off the Brazilian was - he was through one-on-one with De Gea there. Of interest to United fans. Some scouser is warming up

...

74' It is only as far as another Liverpool player, and it is recycled out to Lallana. His cross is superb, but a sea of blue clears it without much fuss

...

73' Mane steals the ball on the halfway line, but he runs out ideas. His pass to Firmino is read easily by Bailly, and the Ivorian smacks it clear

...

71' The corner amounts to nothing much

...

70' OOOOWWW!!!! PHILIPPE COUTINHO YOU MAGNIFICIENT THING YOU. He whips in a beauty that is arrowing into the far top corner.  DAVID  DE GEA THOUGH IS AN INSPIRED HUMAN BEING. He pulls out a save that only he could have - at full stretch to his left, and saved by a fingertip

...

69' United are sitting deep here, and inviting Liverpool pressure. Could be dangerous, now that Lallana has changed the equation.

...

67' Rashford whips in another teasing cross from the right, but Lovren is there to head it out.

...

66' Liverpool are well and truly on top here. After that Lallana run, Pogba barges into Milner. That should have been a foul, and a free kick for Liverpool

...

65' LALLANA IS CREATING ALL SORTS OF CONFUSION HERE. He has been lively, and the runs that he's making behind the United defence are something they missed sorely in the first half

...

64' Can picks out Lallana with a beautiful pass, but the Englishman is shepherded out.

...

62' Mane creates mass confusion in the United box, but Blind gets back in time to cut it out. It's scrappy, tense stuff, but it's been played at a much higher pace than the first 45. And there HAVE BEEN CHANCES. So Yaay, I guess.

...

61' Lallana has a snapshot that flashes well wide. Replays of the Can chance show that Smalling had a fistful of the Liverpool man's shirt throughout. WHEN WILL SMALLING LEARN NOT TO DO THAT? It could, and should, have been a penalty

...

60' Ashley Young wins a cheap freekick off Can on the halfway line. Herrera zips forward and lays the ball off to Zlatan who tries to bully his way past Matip and Lovren. Not the easiest task that, even for the mighty Swede. The red door is firmly shut on his face

...

59' SUBSTITUTION - Sturridge OFF, Lallana ON. Back to a front three for Herr Klopp

...

57' FIRST REAL MOMENT OF QUALITY! MATIP PLAYS IN CAN WITH A DELIGHTFUL LITTLE THROUGH BALL. THE GERMAN HOLDS OFF SMALLING AND UNLEASHES A SHOT THAT IS HEADING TO THE BOTTOM CORNER, BUT DE GEA PULLS OUT A SAVE OF THE HIGHEST ORDER

...

56' Coutinho tries an elaborate set piece routine. This isn't the training ground, Phillippe - that was utter filth

...

55' This is so very scrappy! Mane stumbles and fumbles his way through the middle, but Fellaini swats him aside like an annoying fly - legally. Coutinho jumps in on Herrera, but Taylor awards the foul to the Brazilian.

...

54' OH CHANCE!!!! Pogba's twinkling feet creates space and he whips in a superb ball into the far post. This is prime Zlatan territory but the Swede's header runs across the face of goal. If the Swede had been o his A-game, that was 1-0 right there

...

53' United are targeting Karius here and are pressing like a wolf-pack everytime Karius gets the ball

...

52' Fellaini lets Can know he is still around.
