Full-time: Mali 5-1 Iraq

It was an evening to forget for Iraq as Mali put them to the sword with five goals. The Asian champions pulled one back late in the 2nd half but it was too little too late by then. Fode Konate's wondrous strike was the highlight of the match as the African dominance in the FIFA U17 World Cup continues.

That's all from us here today. Until next time, goodbye.
...
90+5' GOOOOOOAAAAALLLL MALI!

Ndiaye with a wonderful goal on the half turn to kill the game off. That's his 2nd of the game and 5th of the tournament. It's been a rout today.
...
90+1' 5 minutes of time added on.
...
Seydou Camara, who came on just a few minutes ago, just walks the ball into the Iraq goal. Mali restore their 3-goal cushion and seals what has been a day to forget for Iraq.
...
87' GOOOOOAAAALLLL MALI!
...
Iraq pull one back as Kareem hits a side-footed finish past Koita to put a semblance of respectability to the scoreline. It all came about after some wonderful needle play from Shakir and his ball into Kareem's path was the stuff of dreams
...
85' GOOOAAALLL IRAQ!
...
83' Kareem attempts a curler from outside the box and it's straight at Koita in the Mali goal.
...
80' The game is slowly petering out as Iraq seem to have resigned to the fact they have been outplayed by a far superior team.
...
73' What. A. Goal. Right-back Konate with an absolute screamer of a goal from an acute angle from the edge of the box. That could well go down as the best goal of the FIFA U17 World Cup 2017. Mali are now out of sight. 3-0
...
74' GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLL MALI!
...
The African champions are getting more and more space as Iraq attack and Traore's rapid run and cross is just wide of the target.
...
72' What a sweeping break from Mali, again!
...
70' What a brilliant counter by Mali as Ndiaye nearly slips in the perfect cross before it is deflected away for a corner. The move came about after a strong run aided by a one-two with Camara. Mali are turning on the style here with 20 more minutes left.
...
65' Adnan meets a cross from the left but he is well marked by Traore. The Iraq number 11's headed attempt is gathered easily by Koita.
...
63' Jiddou has been impressive in the game and the Mali number 10 almost adds a third for his side as his shot across the Iraq goal is just tipped wide by Ibadi.
...
62' Mali with a few niggly fouls inside the Iraq half as they try to force the issue.
...
58' Camara with an effort from outside the box which is blocked.
...
55' Ridha to Jabbar from a corner but the Iraqi centre-back heads it over. At least Iraq are being an attacking threat in the 2nd half as Mali take the foot off the gas pedal.
...
53' Iraq show some spirit but Mali are proving no slouches here as they keep the Asian champions at bay. It's been a physical mismatch but Iraq have come back well in the 2nd half. However, they need more than what they're showing to overturn their 2-0 deficit.
...
49' Iraq with some real drive and intention in attack but Ridha's shot is straight at Koita as Mali survive a rare scare.
...
46' The second half is underway with Mali taking control of proceedings just like they did in the 1st half.
...
HT: Mali 2-0 Iraq
...
What a chance for Iraq right at the end of the 1st half as Ridha's curling free-kick is almost met by Jabbar before Koita intervenes. That was the last action of the half as the half-time whistle is blown. Mali have totally dominated Iraq in the 1st period and goals from Drame and Ndiaye have put them in the driver's seat.
...
45+3' Ali is flagged here for a high boot on Jiddou as Mali get a freekick from a fair way out. However, the short freekick is a wasteful one and sets Iraq off on a counter. The Asian champions, predictably, lose the ball again.
...
45+1' 4 minutes of time added on at the end of the 1st half.
...
41' Drame and Ndiaye - the goalscorers - have been really impressive so far. Drame with some intelligent movement inside the box but the little forward fluffs his shot this time.
...
39' Mali are almost toying with Iraq now with some beautiful exchanges in the middle third. They could've scored more than two by now had they kept their discipline in the final third. Ndiaye is caught offside here.
...
Ndiaye with a well-placed header from Traore's inch-perfect cross from the left. Mali have clearly put the pressure on Iraq here with two goals before the half-time mark.
...
34' GOOOOOAAAALLLL MALI!
...
32' Iraq nearly get back on level terms as Jabbar's header from Ridha's corner is just tipped over by Koita. Set-pieces might just be the best option for Iraq today.
...
Possession: Mali 66-34 Iraq

Shots: Mali 7-1 Iraq

Shots on target: Mali 3-0 Iraq
...
28' It's 1-0 to Mali and the referee calls a water break.
...
Drame sidefoots a Jiddo cutback to the roof of the net to give Mali the lead. The African champions have deservedly taken the lead and Iraq have a task on their hands now.
...
25' GOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL MALI!
...
24' Ndiaye with an effort after a lucky ricochet fell to his feet. The striker's left-footed effort, however, is weak and straight at Ibadi in the Iraq goal.
...
21' Despite their lack of attacking intent, Iraq have done well to keep it tight at the back. Mali are bombing forward but facing a brick wall every time. Is the absence of Dawood hurting the Iraqis?
...
18' Iraq aren't afforded any breathing space as their only way out of their own defensive third is an aimless, long punt forward.
...
15' Mali aren't affording any space to the Iraqis. The Africans now need a goal to show for their efforts. Iraq are being physically bullied at the Fatorda Stadium.
...
10' Mali on the attack again and the Africans try to quickly regain possession higher up the pitch with both Jiddou and Camara operating. Their high pressing leads to an Iraq handball, the resulting freekick of which is blazed just over by Boubacar Haidara.
