That game was finished in a scintillating five-minute spell between the 37th and 42nd minute when United smashed in three goals. Jose Mourinho needed an emphatic victory, and by Jove! did he get it. Rashford was electric in phases as is his wont, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was imperious, Juan Mata was superb. But the Man of the Match has to go to Paul Labile Pogba.
The world's most expensive - and most trolled - footballer ran this game like a Don. It was a throwback to his best days for Juventus. He was unstoppable as he pulled off brilliant through-balls, cheeky dribbles and capped it all off with an emphatic header. That should keep the critics and the trolls at bay. For a week at least.
Ranieri needs to do some serious introspection and needs to get back to the basics that served him so well last year. The defending, especially, at corners were truly atrocious.
A Rooney-less United were simply too good on the day though.
Thank you very much for staying with me through this entertaining match! It's been an absolute pleasure!!
Anirudh Menon signing out!
93' United are killing this game expertly, passing it around the park like its a training exercise.
91' Hererra has not been mentioned much, but he's been a busybody throughout and has maintained his defensive position well - allowing Paul Pogba to do his thing.
3 Minutes added on
As impressive as United have been, Leicester have been equally poor. They have shown none of their traditional qualities of persistence, resilience and a defensive organisation
88' More cute interplay between United, but Zlatan's ball has too much in it for Blind.
87' Zlatan has dropped deep now and is orchestrating play from the no.10 role. Rooney finds himself upfront against Huth and Morgan
86' SUBSTITUTION - Juan Mata off, Ashley Young on
85' Zlatan sits in front of the box and surveys the scene for a full five seconds untroubled. His attempted ball misses Mata, though.
84' Zlatan with a stinging shot from a tough angle that stings the palms of Zieler. The Swede desperately wants to get on the scoresheet.
83' Oh Wayne. His attempt at killing the ball with his first touch ends up in the keeper's hand!
82' SUBSTITUTION - Rashford off, WAYNE ROONEY ON.
81' Gray has been scintillating since he came on, this time a brilliant teasing cross just about eludes the Leicester shirts in the box
Leicester's fans are an adorable bunch... they've been serenading Old Trafford with "You'll never be Champions... of League 1"
Guess who's kitted and ready to join the party? Wayne Rooney that's who
78' The ball is being knocked around by United at leisure, before an ambitious Bailly ball is headed out by Fuchs.
77' SUBSTITUTION - Lingard off, Carrick on. The senior statesman has presumably been sent on to control the game, and kill it by keeping the ball - Pep style.
WHAT A SHOT FROM GRAY. WHAT A SAVE FROM DE GEA!!! An almost identical effort to his goal from Gray is clawed out by De Gea
Here are the lineups:
City XI: Bravo; Sagna, Otamendi, Stones, Kolarov; Fernandinho, Sterling, Gündoğan, Silva, De Bruyne; Aguero
Swansea XI: Fabianski; Rangel, Hoorn, Amat, Naughton; Fer, Britton, Cork; Sigurdsson, Routledge; Llorente.
76' A superb ball from Andy King finds Slimani, and he lays the ball off to Gray....
75' OOOOOOOO VALENCIA LASHES IT IN AND ZLATAN ALMOST REACHES IT WITH AN ACROBATIC EFFORT!!
74' Zlatan and Blind (?!) almost combine at the edge of the Leicester box but the ball is put out for a corner. The one hundredth corner (Ok, not that much, but it feels like that) is cleared by Morgan
73' Gray receives the ball in the box, but delays too long. Rashford counters at pace, but Simpson cuts him down and gets booked.
72' Fuchs is shrugged off the ball by Zlatan, but the line referee feels bad for the Austrian, and calls a foul
71' Zlatan finds himself in a million acres of space at the edge of the box, but his pass to Lingard is cut out. The corner comes to nothing
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW VALENCIA SKIP PAST A DEFENDER WITH SUCH EASE? It's a mark of how confident United are
69' United are up for this. Blind jumps into consecutive challenges and wins a foul. Valencia skips past Fuchs but his cross ricochets off him for a goal kick
67' CHANCEEEEE FOR KING!!!! A lovely pass from Drinkwater finds a galloping Schlupp whose square ball is well met by King. The ball though is straight down De Gea's thoat
WHAT A SAVE FROM ZIELER. Another flowing move almost ends up in the back of the Foxes' net but Ibrahimovic's screamer is saved spectacularly down low to his left by the Keeper
65' Rashford's pace has tormented Simpson all day, his final ball, though, has let him down.
64' OOOOOOO LINGARD. Hererra frees Valencia down the right and his cut back finds Lingard. The Englishman lashes his shot just wide
62' CHANCE FOR LEICESTER, Simpson whips in a teasing cross that just about eludes everyone in the United box. Fuchs' long throw creates some confusion but nothing comes off it
61' Zlatan doesn't like what he is saying, and he yells at his mates to close down the Leicester defenders. United are slacking now, and this is dangerous for Mourinho's side
SUBSTITUTION - Jeff Schlupp comes on for the hard working Marc Albrighton
What a goal. Demarai Gray shrugs off Valencia and Lingard before unleashing a screaming, curling, howitzer into the right corner. De Gea gets a fingertip to it, but nothing doing. THAT WAS SPECTACULAR
58' CHANCE FOR LEICESTER. A SWEET CROSS FROM ALBRIGHTON just eludes Slimani ......
Zlatan has absolutely bossed Huth and Morgan today. Cannot remember the last time that the massive central defensive pairing was so thoroughly bullied
