PEEP! PEEP! THAT IS IT! FULLTIME!

SWEDEN ARE THROUGH. MEXICO ARE GOING THROUGH! KOREA HAVE JUST SCORED AGAIN! OH MY GOOD LORD!

Oh my Lord I need a lie-down. WHAT A WORLD CUP THIS HAS BEEN! THIS IS INSANE! OH MY LORD

Thank you so much for reading. Football, thank you so much for being.

Anirudh Menon signing out, Toodle-ooo

90'+ 4' GERMANY ARE BOTTOM OF A GROUP THAT INCLUDES MEXICO, SWEDEN, KOREA REPUBLIC. READ THAT AGAIN. SLOWLY
90'+3' OH MY KOREA HAVE SCORED! MEXICO ARE GOING THROUGH AS IT STANDS!
90' +2' KOREA HAVE SCORED; BUT NO, OFFSIDE! OH MY GOD THE DRAMA! Back in Ekatinburg, the Mexicans are still trying to pass their  way into the Swedish net... the ref's checking for VAR in the German game.
90'+1' FOUR MINUTES ADDED ON HERE... BUT THERE HAVE BEEN SIX MINUTES ADDED ON IN THE GERMANY GAME! OH, THIS IS GOING TO TEST THE STRENGTH OF MEXICAN HEARTS
90' The corner's dealt with easily enough as Lozano scrams a shot into the top tier. Sigh. Story of the Mexican half, this.
89' Miguel Layun has run his race, and Oribe Peralta sprints on in his stead. Fabian takes the freekick; it bounces off the Swedes and that's a corner.
88' Lozano dribbles his way around the edge of the box, and Lustig takes him out on the edge of it - in the professional manner. Yellow for the rightback
87' Mexico try to keep it at the corner; but Herrera and Salcedo do well to extricate the Mexicans out of that situation.
86' Layun then absolutely thumps into Toivonen, leading with his elbow, and that's a yellow for the Mexican.
85' Layun and Lustig go at it and crash into each other. Layun wants a freekick, the ref asks him to get on with life.
84' OH! Fabian, who's been brilliant since coming on late on, dribbles into the box and wins a corner; from which the ball's played all the way over to Corona - the winger's cross into the box, though, is caught well by Olsen.
82' The faces of those Mexican fans are just heart-breaking.
80' Vela smashes the ball into the wall - but Corona gets the ball... he jinks into the box and dinks a lovely ball into the box; Hernandez chests it down and lashes a shot across the face of goal... where - OH MY GOOD LORD - VELA HAS MISSED FROM A YARD OUT! All he had to do was stand up straight and the ball would have bounced off his face and into the goal... but somehow, he's missed!
79' Albin Ekdal has been absolutely immense in the middle of the field; he intercepts and passes it to Claesson; who loses it. Mexico maraud forward and Lozano wins a freekick, twenty yards out, right of centre. Perfect Vela territory. For the Swedes the excellent Ekdal comes off, Hiljemark comes on.
78' Mexico look despondent. Their fans look despondent. They were so good in the first two games; and semi-decent in the first half here. Sweden are walking this at the moment. This could be Mexico's heaviest World Cup loss since 1978! (W.Germany, 6-0, in case you were wondering)
77' In the other match, it still remains, Germany 0-0 Korea Republic
76' Mexico win a corner; from which Olsen saves a Hernadez touch from a couple of yards out; but never mind, the striker was well offside. The linesman's flag affirms that
75' Andres Guardado - who's been disastrously poor this half - has been subbed off for the pacy Jesus Corona
Once again, the Mexicans can't handle the pressure of dealing with a Swedish set-piece; Toivonen heads it on, it bounces off poor ol' Alvarez and into the net. This has been a catastrophic half-hour for Mexico
75' GOOOOOOOOOOOAL! SWEDEN! OWN GOAL ALVAREZ
74' Salcedo screws it out for a throw. Claesson hurls it in....
73' Ekdal comes out with the ball again; and he does brilliantly to win a foul of Guadrado. That's another freekick they'll look to hurl into the box --
72' Mexico are doing everything to pry open the Swedish lock, but everytime the lose the ball, the Swedes look threatening on the counter. On this occassion, though, Forsberg's disguised pass to Kiese-Thelin doesn't really work out
70' OH! HERNANDEZ! OH! CHICHARITO! The poacher poaches his way to an acre of free space in the Swedish box - it's unreal how much space he has to work with - but he can only screw his header well over Olsen's crossbar. Wouldn't have been wrong to expect better from Chicha there
69' Oh, the enterprising Fabian looks to maraud into the box with a give-and-go off Lozano; but the 'go' never comes... Herrera wins the ball back with a lovely little interception and soft-shoe-shuffle combination... and the Mexicans have a freekick at the edge of the box down the right flank
68' Fabian takes the corner; which comes to nothing as the massive Swedes hold their defensive discipline.
67' Substitution for Sweden as Isaac Kiese-Thelin comes on for a bruised Marcus Berg; the big man's done a great job today.
66' WOOF! Fabian hammers a shot at goal and it takes the tiniest of deflections off Granqvist to fly off over the crossbar. That was a great block!
65' Ekdal does superbly to usher Guardado off the ball; but the Mexicans win it back soon enough. Fabian comes on for young Gallardo; who's gotten a right ol' beating tonight
64' Lozano gets plastered into by Lustig; and the Mexicans have a chance to build play up from the back... Gallardo lifts one into the box, and Augustinsson heads it clear. They'll take this all day, will the Swedes.
Sweden have been much the better side this half, and this 2-0 lead is nothing less than they've deserved
WOOF! HE ABSOLUTELY THUMPS IT INTO THE FAR RIGHT CORNER OF OCHOA'S GOAL. No one on Earth is stopping that.
62' GOOOOOOOOOOOAL! GRANQVIST!
Andres Guadrado loses the ball with a horrible turn... Toivonen ran at the Mexicans and slid in Berg... who then got slammed into as Hector Moreno smashes into him
60' PENAAAAAAAALTY! SWEDEN HAVE A PENALTY! OH MY LORD THE DRAMA!
59' Granqvist steps out, channeling his inner Beckanbauer and plays a lovely ball out wide to a hopelessly free Lustig. The Celtic man lifts in a decent looking ball into the box; where Berg can only cushion his header into Ochoa's hands.
58' Mexico are looking a touch nervous here. Granqvist plays in a deep ball and Berg chases it down - as is his wont. Sweden are seeing plenty of the ball here.
57' Oh, Seb Larsson's been clattered into, and he's going to have to come off.... what a pity, he would have loved to stick around for the duration of the 90. Svensson comes on in his stead
55' Forsberg's seeing plenty of the ball here... he jinks forward and attempts to pick a pass out to Berg; but gets his radar all wrong.
54' Forsberg plays in Augustinsson down the left... the fulback, brimming with confidence now, cuts in and lashes a shot with his weaker right foot handsomely high and wide.
53' OH! GUADRADO! The Mexican captain bombards forward and after linking up well with Lozano plays an aimless shot/cross well over Olsen's crossbar.
52' As it stands, Mexico and Sweden will go through -- but that means the Germans have to be kept scoreless! Back in Ekatarinburg, Toivonen plays in a ball into the box which deflects its way to Forsberg; the RB Leipzig man's shot, though loops well over Ochoa's crossbar
Oh, what a scrappy goal; not that the Swedes will give one jot. Larsson played a lovely ball out to Claesson; the winger pumped it in, it deflected off Berg's heel - and sat up perfectly for Augustinsson; who lashed it home from five yards out. WOOF! GAME ON! GROUP, ON! Germany and Korea Republic are still drawing 0-0
50' GOOOOOOOAL! AUGISTINSSOOOOOOOOON! OH!!!
49' The corner is half-cleared by the Swedes... Herrera pings it back into the box, and Vela looks to chest it onto Hernandez but Sweden break....
48' Ekdal crunches into a hard tackle and wins it back for Sweden, but Lindelof's ambitious ball out to Forsberg is cut out by Layun... Mexico motor forward; and through Gallardo's cross deflecting out of Lindelof, they have a corner.
47' OH! No No No. Lindelof pings it straight out of play with a horrendous cross.
46' Both sides exchange possession as the second half gets off to a nervous start. Guadrado then gives away a freekick some 45 yards out, dead centre... you, me, and Osorio's cats know whats coming.
PEEP! WE ARE OFF AGAIN!

Sweden need the win... this should be a good second 45
PEEP! PEEP! HALFTIME!

When the ball's in the air, Sweden have been better. When the ball's on the ground, Mexico have been better.

Fifty-fifty, then

45' + 2' Sweden race forward on the break, Berg taking on Salcedo and beating him on the outside before lashing a powerful shot into the side netting. On the outside. WOOF!
45'+1' Two minutes added on. Sweden hold on after a sustained spell of Mexican pressure. The Swedish wall is keeping the Mexicans out well - learn, Donald, learn.
45' Oh, Oh, Lozano. Some lovely dribbling from the speedy winger allows Mexico to work themselves out of a tricky situation. He gets absolutely clattered into by Lustig; but the ref allows play-on. Mexico scream forward... only for Layun to hit a tame shot into the hands of Olsen.
43' He does just that - Toivonen winning the ball with absurd ease once again, but Mexico somehow push the ball out to the wing... from where Lustig slices it hopelessly off the mark
42' OH! Some lusty challenges flying in; Herrera is slammed into by Ekdal (fairly), Forsberg is smashed into by Moreno (unfairly). Lindelof will look to lift it into the box from the centre-circle.
41' OH! Gallardo plays a lovely give-and-go with Vela and races onto the edge of the box; from where he whips a teasing ball into the six yard box that just about misses everyone in there.
40' Mexico keep it there, though, and win a corner... which is somehow scrambled out by the Swedes. The ball's lifted into the box, where the Swedes finally mop it clear up the field
39' ...OH VELA! After more lovely passing from El Tri... Hernadez lays it off to Vela; who cuts in and smashes it over Olsen's crossbar. Good chance, that
38' OH! OH! Forsberg tries to split the defence in half with a ball in between the lines - from left to right - and the ball's on it's way to Lustig when Lozano puts in a superb tackle. WOOF! Mexico race forward on the break...
37' OH! Toivonen tries a delicate dink into the box - he's full of confidence after that chip over Manuel Neuer's head - but Marcus Berg is not used to fancy ol' stuff like this. The ball runs away into Ochoa's arms.
35' WOOF! Ekdal steams into a challenge to stop Hernandez, Herrera then returns the favour to stop Ekdal. All legal... all okay! Lozano tries a shot; but it hits a wall of yellow and bounces away to safety
33' Viktor Claesson lifts the ball into the edge of the box, where Forsberg tries one of those patented Zlatan-sideways-acrobatic volleys. He ain't no Zlatan. The ball ends up in the top tier
32' This set-piece comes to naught but a Mexican throw-in. On the touchline, Janne Andersson looks like he can spontaneously combust any moment now.
31' OH! OH! Granqvist slaps the ball forward with a kick after the ball is whipped into the box and bounces its way to him - Ochoa once again does tremendously well to tip it over the bar
30' Janne Andersson is absolutely furious, but that's not going to change anyone's mind. Larsson has a go at the ref too - and it takes Lindelof to shove him for the game to continue...
29' VAR is VAR-ing, the ref is looking at a screen; the handball looks way too unintentional for it to be given. Just the corner. And on we go.
28' The ball pinballs around the area from the freekick; and Sweden have a corner; despite the Swede's best efforts to convince the ref that Hernandez handled it... OH! HE'S GOING TO VAR IT!
27' The Swedes have a spell of possession of their own; they are decent footballers with the ball at their feet, you know... it's just that they rarely keep it on the deck. Berg then gets slammed into in the centre circle and Lindelof will NOT keep the ball on the deck
25' Augistinsson embarks on a run to break the rut of Mexican possession - and swings it into the box; where Ochoa does superbly to catch it. Larsson then Nigel-de-Jongs into Hector Herrera - feet a full 5 ft up in the air, and that's the easiest yellow the ref will ever show in his life
24' Mexico are passing it around with a fair bit more confidence.. it's a bit like your favourite uncle dancing at a cousin's wedding. The more liquid goes in, the more fluid the dancing becomes.
23' Mexico play it short and Herrera's ball is half-cleared at the near post by Forsberg. Mexico keep possession, and strangle the Swedes into their own box... before Guardardo cuts in and lashes a mis-hit well wide. He raises his hands in apology.
22' Mexico win the ball back soon enough... and after passing it around prettily for a bit, Vela tries to caress another curler into the far post; but big Granqvist gets his noggin' to it and clears - corner, Mexico
20' Lozano breezes away from Lustig with contemptuous ease, before laying it off to Herrera. The midfield master looks to play a give-and-go with Hernandez, but the go never comes. Sweden look to break at pace, but Guadrado scrams into a tackle to stop him. Foul, but Mexico won't mind that.
19' Granqvist smashes into Hernandez in the centre-circle and Chicha felt that, let me assure you. Great foul-winning from the poacher, nonetheless to get his side some breathing space
17' OH FORSBERG! Claesson whips in a great ball into the box, where it misses everyone in the middle... Forsberg runs onto it on the outside and smashes the ball into row Z on the volley! What a great chance that was!
16' Alvarez channels his inner Maradona and skedaddles past three challenges. His pass doesn't meet it's intended target, but the ball bounces out to Lozano. He takes a touch, steps inside and tees up Vela delightful. The Sociedad playmaker leans back and curls a lovely shot just wide of Olsen's far post. Much better, that, from El Tri!
15' AH! Mexico almost work a perfect little triangle that allows Chicharito to ping the ball out to Layun; but the West Ham striker fluffs his lines and passes a horrible ball straight to touch
14' The Mexicans are now targeting the Swedish fullbacks! Instead of lumping it at them, they are lumping it behind them - and Lozano does well to pressure Lustig into a throw-in. Some more moments on the ball to becalm frayed Mexican nerves
13' AH! LOZANO! Chicharito drops deep and tries to ping it Lozano who's in a fair bit of space down the left, but the young lad from PSV is caught offside.
12' Augistinson takes..... and OH! OH! OH! Granqcist wins the header with absurd ease and knocks it on to Marcus Berg. The striker tries to overhead-bicycle a low shot at goal and it whistles just past Ochoa's near post. That was close!
11' Olsen's trying to test Gallardo every single time he gets the ball - Toivonen once again drifts wide, and causes enough confusion to win a corner.
10' Herrera lets Ekdal know that the Mexicans have a fair bit about them too. A scrappy start, to say the least.
9' Lozano runs, and whenever he does that, Mexico look a right proper football team. He passes it on, where Albin Ekdal stops both Herrera and Guadrado from taking a shot at goal... so Mexico pass it around to the right. There, Layun picks it up, cuts in, and has a shot - it's a weak one.
8' Lozano springs onto the ball, turns Claesson on the spot - Mexico have a freekick. They take it quickly and eventually nothing material comes of it. They simply can't lump it into the box here -- the Swedes are just going to win everything in the air.
6' Unlike Toni Kroos, Forsberg went for the near post, and that's what gave Ochoa the chance to clear it. Mexico clear it in the uncompromising manner and a Victor Lindelof shank allows them some possession further up the field. Finally.
5' WOOF! From the angle, Emil Forsberg curls a lovely ball in - that Ochoa does ever so well to punch out. It lobs up into the air, where Mexico somehow scramble it clear. Mexico are being pinned back, here!
4' OH! OCHOA! The ref adudges him to have caught the ball outside the box as Berg chased it... the Mexicans are furious, but there's nothing they can do. The Mexicans are lucky that there's no further punishment for their talismanic keeper
3' Gallardo is getting bombarded by the aerial stuff - Olsen swinging it right up to Toivonen, who's peeled out to the Swedish right flank to try and make the most of his size advantage. Gallardo holds strong, though, this time.
2' OH, MY! Larsson takes, the ball goes drifting into the far post; Berg wins the header and Moreno has to be alive to Granqvist lurking around, waiting for the ball. That's an early warning for El Tri
1' OH! Crunching tackle as Gallardo goes in hard on Toivonen... Sweden will have a freekick very early on; and the giants of Scandinavia will fancy this. Yellow for the young left back. In the 20th second. That's the fastest caution in World Cup history
PEEP! WE ARE OFF!

Sweden in their traditional yellow and blue will kick off from left to right as you'd see it on the telly. Mexico in their storied green and white shall try to move it the other way. Sweden kick off
Anthems have been sung, hands have been shaken, photos have been taken... football is imminent

Mexico vs Sweden - Team News

Mexico know that they may still get knocked out - despite winning their first two games - and hence are unlikely to rest any of their big guns. The one possible change from their win against the Korea Republic could be the incoming of Hugo Ayala - his height and aerial prowess will be needed to counter the massive threat of the Swedes.

Sweden are unlikely to change anything from their narrow defeat against Germany - you simply can't factor for a moment of magic - and will be hoping their robust, pragmatic style can help them to a win.
