MUM vs BEN Match Result - ISL 2019-20
Mumbai City
2 - 0
M. Sougou 13'
A. Chermiti 55'
90+4' PEEP! PEEP! PEEP! There is the full-time whistle by referee SR Coimbatore and it ends Mumbai City FC 2-0 Bengaluru FC. Well, that is the exact opposite of what I predicted before the game started. Here is your host Abhishek Kundu bidding adieu. Do stay tuned to Sportskeeda to get the latest ISL and Indian Football news.
90+3' Mumbai City FC makes their full and final change.

OFF- Mohamed Larbi
ON- Bidyananda Singh
90+2' Mumbai City FC make their second change. A ploy to wind down the clock.

OFF- Modou Sougou
ON- Bipin Singh
90+1' Raynier Fernandes lodges a cross from the left flank aiming for Sougou. But, Gurpreet comes off his line and snarls the ball.
90' Four Minutes have been added on.
89' CHANCE! Mumbai City FC get bodies in numbers ahead now and seeing Gurpreet slightly off the line, Raynier tries to cleverly place the ball in the near post. But, the Punjabi lad tracks back and collects the ball comfortably.
87' Bengaluru FC put bodies forward and Ashique lodges a low cross from the left flank but it is straight at the hands of Amrinder.
86' SHOT! Mumbai City FC almost scores their third goal of the night as Sougou takes a shot from inside the box with no one closing him down. Luckily for Bengaluru FC and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, the effort was wide and caused no trouble to the 6 feet 6-inch frame of Gurpreet.
85' Well, that is some sportsmanship from India's captain Sunil Chhetri. Amrinder Singh playacts to be down and wants medical attention. But, the Bengaluru FC captain comes up, picks his arms with both the hands, and says play my brother.
84' Mumbai City FC makes their first change.

OFF- Amine Chermiti
ON- Raynier Fernandes
83' CHANCE! End-to-end action here at the Mumbai Football Arena. Sunil Chhetri hangs near the sidelines and drives a low cross ahead of the defenders. Udanta Singh gets his foot but instead of putting it on target, he pokes it wide. Deshorn Brown who was lurking at the far post, too, fails to get a touch and caress the ball past the back-line.
82' Mumbai City FC look dangerous on the counter-attack once again. Chermiti makes a through pass to Carlos but the Brazilian failed to track his run and the assistant raises his flag.
81' CHANCE! Bengaluru FC get a good chance as Deshorn Brown crosses the ball but Juanan heads it wide and Amrinder Singh ensures the ball goes out of play and Mumbai City FC win a goal-kick.
78' Sunil Chhetri gets a yellow card for bouncing the ball after the referee had awarded a free-kick just outside the box to Mumbai City FC.
77' CHANCE! There looks to be some sort of miscommunication between Rahul Bheke and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu as the former leaves the ball to latter and the 'keeper makes a hasty effort to ensure Larbi doesn't get a touch to it. This is the worst defensive setup from Bengaluru FC this season.
74' CHANCE! Bengaluru FC finally manages to make good passes in the midfield but it all ends with a misdirected cross from Ashique Kuruniyan. That ball landed straight to the West Block Blues faithful who are cheering at the Indian international for his failed effort.
72' Modou Sougou is adjudged offside now. It has turned out to be a game of offsides. Mumbai City FC have been adjudged offside four times whereas Bengaluru thrice.
71' Sougou beats Rahul Bheke near the sidelines and drives a low cross aiming for Chermiti at the far post. However, the Tunisian fails to get his foot to the ball in time and the ball rolls out from the opposite sidelines. The assistant had raised his flag nonetheless.
69' OFFSIDE! Dimas Delgado robs the ball from the feet of Rowllin Borges at the centre of the park. The Spaniard tries to feed a through ball to Deshorn Brown but the Jamaican international is offside and the assistant raises the flag.
66' CHANCE! Mumbai City FC players crowd the left flank and then swiftly release a ball at the centre to Rowllin Borges. The India international takes a shot from distance but Eugeneson Lyngdoh blocks it.
65' Bengaluru FC make their full and final change. The Jamaican international makes his ISL debut.

OFF- Harmanjot Singh Khabra
ON- Deshorn Brown
61' OFFSIDE! Mumbai City FC looks threatening on the left flank after Larbi and Carlos play some good one-touch lobbed passes among each other. But, the attack fizzles away as Chermiti fails to track back on time from an offside position to collect the ball.
58' Well, we missed a substitution before. This substitution forced Khabra to play in the right back and Rahul Bheke to shift to the left. And ultimately, it proved costly to Bengaluru FC as the makeshift left-back was the guilty party in conceding the goal.

OFF- Nishu Kumar
ON- Eugeneson Lyngdoh
57' Larbi takes a shot and almost triples the lead for the Islanders but Gurpreet is very alert this time and parries the ball out for a corner-kick. The resulting flag kick to the far post is well-collected by the tall frame of Gurpreet.
56' GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAL! Amine Chermiti doubles up the lead for Mumbai City FC.

A long ball by Borges is straight at the head of Harmanjot Singh Khabra but the Punjabi lad makes a mess of it by giving it straight to Amine Chermiti. The Tunisian says thank you very much and beats Gurpreet from a one-on-one situation inside the box.
53' The referee gives a yellow card to Diego Carlos for leading with an elbow on Serran. To be honest, it wasn't that serious as he didn't catch in the face. SR Coimbatore is showing no mercy while dealing with the cards here.
52' CHANCE! Modou Sougou sprints down the right flank and pings a delightful cross at the far post. Rahul Bheke is beaten but the cross is too high for Diego Carlos to connect. Bengaluru FC survives another scare here. Modou Sougou is proving to be a livewire for the opposition tonight.
50' CHANCE! Bheke takes a long throw and Khabra wins the first header. However, the subsequent ball is cleared by Mumbai City FC defenders only as far as Udanta Singh who tries to chip the ball home. But, the slow in pace shot is slightly high.
48' The referee gives a yellow card to Nishu Kumar after he stops Diego Carlos on the tracks. The Brazilian was almost through on goal from that counter-attack as Sougou chipped another delicate long ball towards him.
46' PEEP! We are underway once again here at the Mumbai Football Arena.
Bengaluru FC make a change at half-time.

OFF- Manuel Onwu
ON- Udanta Singh
45+2' PEEP! PEEP! There is the half-time whistle by the referee SR Coimbatore. The first half ends with the home side Mumbai City FC leading by one goal to nil thanks to quick thinking from Modou Sougou. Don't go anywhere as we will be back with the second half action on the other end of the commercial break.
45+1' GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAA- OFFSIDE! Chhetri bundles the ball in the back of the net at the near post of Amrinder after latching to a long pass from Dimas. But, the assistant raises the flag. However, the replays show Chhetri was onside when the pass was played. Moreover, Golui got the touch to the ball first. That is another instance of shoddy refereeing here in the sixth edition of ISL.
45' Two Minutes have been added on.
43' GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAA-OFFSIDE! Subhasish nicks the ball in the back of the net after latching to a pass from Diego Carlos. However, he was marginally offside and the referee raises the flag. That was almost 2-0 for Mumbai City FC. The home side is looking threatening here.
41' Dimas Delgado gets the first yellow card of the game as he cleans the heel of Rowllin Borges from behind. To be honest, that was nothing but overacting by the Mumbai City FC player. A scuffle ensues later with Serran coming all the way from the back to push Chermiti. But, the referee and other players come out to separate the two heated sides.
40' Dimas takes a direct corner kick aimed at the penalty spot and Erik Paartalu rises above his marker to get his head to the ball first. But, it is not connected properly and the shot ends up being inches high.
39' Onwu wins the ball from the feet of Sourav Das and lays a square pass to Sunil Chhetri. The Spaniard makes a run forward trying to get the return pass from him but Mumbai City FC defenders clear the ball.
37' Well, we see Deshorn Brown and Udanta Singh warming up in the sidelines. Is Carles Cuadrat thinking of making a double change at half-time given that nothing is going right from the forward line of Bengaluru FC?
36' Larbi takes the corner kick at the near post towards Chermiti but the Tunisian' sidefoot effort is agonizingly wide.
34' SHOT! Mumbai City FC are quick on the counter and Mohamed Larbi weaves a through ball to Diego Carlos on the left flank. The Brazilian goes for a shot at the near post but the tall frame of Gurpreet ensures he easily palms the ball away.
33' CHANCE! Onwu with a good backpass to Chhetri, his first meaningful touch of the contest, and the captain tries to find Dimas. However, it is overhit and falls to Erik Paartalu. The Aussie tries to find Chhetri with a chipped effort but Golui and Amrinder ensure the ball goes out of play first.
31' Mohamed Larbi wins the ball in the centre circle and Mumbai City FC is on a 3 vs 2 situation. But, the Tunisian instead of passing to Sougou drifts to the right and makes an elaborate pass towards Carlos. However, the attack fizzles away as Bengaluru FC get their players backwards.
29' Juanan punts a long ball in the left flank looking for Nishu Kumar on the overlap but Sarthak Golui sidesteps the ball for a throw-in. Nishu takes it and delivers it to Chhetri. After picking up the ball from the captain, the 22-year-old pings a cross but Mumbai City FC players get the foot to the ball first. However, their clearance is only as far as Harmanjot Singh Khabra. The Punjabi lad goes for distance but a host of Mumbai City FC bodies ensure the ball never completes its trajectory.
28' Ashique beats Subhasish with a heavy touch and tries to go past Diego Carlos too. But, the duo end up fouling Ashique near the sidelines.
25' Sunil Chhetri wins a foul off Sarthak Golui after the latter put his elbow on the face of the Indian captain. The referee wastes no time in awarding the free-kick and Dimas gets ready to take it. But, Mumbai City FC haven't fallen trap to the defending champions' set-piece variation so far.
24' Mumbai City FC's Rowllin Borges and Sourav Das are playing brilliantly. They aren't allowing the Bengaluru FC midfielders space in the attacking third.
21' SHOT! Rowllin Borges goes for a grounder from just outside the box but Albert Serran deflects it onto the path of Modou Sougou. The 35-year-old has a shot at goal. It looks as if Gurpreet is comfortable collecting it but in the end, fumbles and the ball goes out for a corner-kick. The away side is lucky that Mumbai City FC couldn't make anything useful from that corner kick taken at the far post.
19' Mumbai City FC want Bengaluru FC to put the ball out of play as Sougou is lying injured. But, the away side is not falling trap to this tactic of Mumbai City FC which have frustrated the oppositions. The referee ultimately intervenes and stops play.
18' OFFSIDE! Amrinder Singh punts the ball long and Chermiti drops back to collect it but the assistant raises the flag.
15' Rowllin Borges delivers another long diagonal ball to the right flank aiming for Modou Sougou. The Senegalese traps the ball and tries to cut in past Nishu Kumar but the India international wins the duel this time and clears it for a corner-kick. The resulting corner is well dealt by the Bengaluru FC defenders.
13' GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL! Modou Sougou puts the Islanders up front.

Rowllin Borges
lobs a long ball ahead of the Bengaluru FC back-four and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu comes off his line trying to fist it away. But, the Senegalese gets his head to the ball first and it rolls past the goal-line. That is a very typical Mumbai City FC goal.
12' Mumbai City FC's Amine Chermiti chips the ball trying to find Modou Sougou but it has a tad too much power on it and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu shepherds the ball out of the touch line.
11' SHOT! Bengaluru FC does a variation near the corner flag and Harmanjot Singh Khabra ends up delivering a cross. Sunil Chhetri latches to it and takes a shot aiming at the top corner. But, it flies inches high.
10' Ashique wriggles past two Mumbai City FC players but his final shot is deflected by one of the opposition defenders and Bengaluru FC have a corner from the other end.
5' Juanan registers the first shot on target of the game after he gets at the far post of a long ball from Nishu Kumar but Amrinder had his lines covered well and catches the ball.
4' Larbi crosses the ball from the left flank but it falls straight at the hands of Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. Bengaluru FC begins a counter of their own but the move ends up with them winning a corner.
3' Dimas Delgado takes the free-kick after three Bengaluru FC players do stepovers but Sourav Das marks Chhetri who got the final ball.
2' Sourav Das wins the first foul of the game as Harmanjot Singh Khabra brings him down at the centre circle.
1' PEEEEEEEEEP! Manuel Onwu gets us going here at the Mumbai Football Arena.
We also wish the same, Vignesh!
Greetings exchanges, photographs clicked, and the starting line-ups exchanged. It is time for kick-off when we come back from the other end of the commercial break.
Up next is the National Anthem of India!
The teams are out of the tunnel. Mumbai City FC are donning their home blues whereas Bengaluru FC are donning their away whites.
FC Goa fans would want Bengaluru FC to drop points at any cost. It will ease pressure on the table-toppers.
This is a tough game to predict. But, given the awful form of Mumbai City FC in home, I say Bengaluru FC will win the tie.

Prediction: Mumbai City FC 0-2 Bengaluru FC
The last time Bengaluru FC were in Mumbai they defeated FC Goa to clinch the ISL 2019-20 trophy. And, it was the local boy Rahul Bheke who wrote his name in the history books.
Sarthak Golui will be the one to mark Sunil Chhetri. Let's see who gets the upper hand in this contest given that both are familiar with each other from the national camps for India. The same goes for the battle on the other flank between Ashique Kuruniyan and Subhasish Bose.
A battle between India's two elite goalkeepers- Gurpreet Singh Sandhu vs Amrinder Singh

Both Amrinder and Gurpreet are in action tonight and are in the top of their game. Amrinder has made 32 saves whereas Gurpreet Singh Sandhu has made 29. However, the latter has clinched seven clean sheets whereas the former has picked up only one.
Talking Tactics- Mumbai City FC (4-2-1-3)

Mumbai City FC have fielded themselves in a 4-2-1-3 formation. Subhasish Bose, Sarthak Golui, Mato Grgic, and Pratik Chowdhury will don the back four and Rowllin Borges will be the two defensive midfielders playing ahead of them. Mohammed Larbi will pull the strings and take care of the attacking side of things from the midfield. The front three of Diego Carlos, Amine Chermiti, and Modou Sougou will like to pounce on the counter-attack and score goals for the Islanders.
Talking Tactics- Bengaluru FC (4-3-3)

Bengaluru FC have fielded themselves in a 4-3-3 formation. Nishu Kumar, Juanan, Albert Serran, and Rahul Bheke will form the back-four. Harmanjot Singh Khabra, Dimas Delgado, and Erik Paartalu will form the midfield triumvirate to feed the balls to Sunil Chhetri and Ashique Kuruniyan. Manuel Onwu will don the uncharacteristic role of Number 9.
Bengaluru FC have fielded an unchanged side to the team that defeated Jamshedpur FC 2-0 in their previous encounter.
Mumbai City FC has made two changes to the side that lost 0-2 to Odisha FC at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. Raynier Fernandes gets relegated to the bench whereas Serge Kevyn misses the contest as he has picked up four yellow cards in the ISL so far. Sourav Das and Diego Carlos find their names in the starting line-up once again.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome again to Sportskeeda's live commentary of tonight's Mumbai City FC vs Bengaluru FC encounter. This is your host Abhishek Kundu. The starting line-up should be out at any moment from now.
Mumbai City FC have been found guilty of failing to track the midfield runners on numerous occasions. Perhaps, it is time for someone like Dimas Delgado or Harmanjot Singh Khabra to get his name in the scoresheet tonight.
Mumbai City FC prefer to play on the counter-attack lobbing long through balls behind the defense-line. Bengaluru FC's  back-four need to be wary of that.
Read Sportskeeda's  official preview of tonight's encounter here.
Bengaluru FC is in red-hot form having picked up two victories in consecutive encounters. Their defense have leaked only seven goals so far this season, the least by any team, and have accumulated as many clean sheets. They might look as the favourite but Mumbai City FC have been their nemesis, having failed to beat since Carles Cuadrat and Jorge Costa took charge of their respective sides.
Not all is rosy for Mumbai City FC. They have let in 21 goals this season so far and are only ahead of bottom-placed  Hyderabad FC in that statistic. Their form at home is also a worrying aspect as the Islanders have collected only 4 points out of their 16 from their home matches. Without Paulo Machado, Mumbai City FC have scored only two goals in three matches and even blanked against Odisha FC and ATK in their previous two encounters. It remains to be seen whether the home side can breach this well-disciplined Bengaluru FC defense.
Jorge Costa has revealed his 18-man squad for tonight's  encounter against Bengaluru FC!
Bengaluru FC have scored 8 goals in total against Mumbai City FC whereas the latter scored six against them in their five cumulative meetings.
Read what Mumbai City FC's head coach Jorge Costa feels about this encounter against a well-drilled Bengaluru FC side.
Read what Carles Cuadrat had to say about his side ahead of this encounter against Mumbai City FC.
What happened the last time these two sides met?

Mumbai City FC ended Bengaluru FC's home unbeaten run courtesy of goals from Subhasish Bose and Diego Carlos and one in the dying embers of the contest by Rowllin Borges. Mato Grgic did score one own goal and Sunil Chhetri calmly converted his penalty but they couldn't stop a spirited Mumbai City FC side as 3-2 victors.
Bengaluru FC Predicted XI: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu (GK), Rahul Bheke, Albert Serran, Juanan, Nishu Kumar, Harmanjot Singh Khabra, Dimas Delgado, Erik Paartalu, Sunil Chhetri, Deshorn Brown, Udanta Singh
Mumbai City FC Predicted Xi: Amrinder Singh (GK), Sarthak Golui, Mato Grgic, Pratik Chaudhari, Subhasish Bose, Raynier Fernandes, Rowllin Borges, Mohammed Larbi, Diego Carlos, Amine Chermiti, Modou Sougou
Welcome to the live commentary of today's ISL match, Mumbai City FC vs Bengaluru FC, by Sportskeeda from the Mumbai Football Arena. The line-ups will be out at 6:30 PM and the match will kick-off at 7:30 PM IST.
Mumbai City FC enters this contest after back-to-back losses to ATK and Odisha FC by a 2-0 scoreline. The Islanders now occupy the fifth spot in the points table with 16 points from 12 matches.
Their opponents for today- Bengaluru FC- on the other hand, come into this game with contrasting fortunes. The Blues sit at the second position in the points table with 22 points from 12 games after picking up back-to-back victories over FC Goa and Jamshedpur FC.
In the absence of Paulo Machado, Mumbai City FC will depend heavily on Mohammed Larbi in the midfield to create chances. Diego Carlos could make his comeback into the Mumbai City FC line-up after he served his one-match suspension. Serge Kevyn will sit out the tie as he has accumulated four yellow cards this season.
For Bengaluru FC, their main threat lies in their captain Sunil Chhetri. The 35-year-old talisman has scored eight goals in twelve matches and could level Aridane Santana in the Golden Boot race if he scores one today. Their new signing Deshorn Brown will travel with the team for the first time and the Jamaican can have his first start for Bengaluru FC today.
In terms of standings in the points table, this match is of paramount importance for Mumbai City FC as a win today would narrow the gap for the Islanders with Odisha FC to just two points. Bengaluru FC are in the race to finish the group stages with the most number of points and a victory tonight would take them momentarily at the top of the table. FC Goa will face ATK in a crunch fixture on Saturday and are likely to drop points there.
Carles Cuadrat has never succeeded in beating Jorge Costa's side in their three encounters panning from the last season. Will the Spanish tactician succeed today or, will Mumbai City FC become the first side to do a double over Bengaluru FC in their short three-year history in the ISL? Do stay tuned to this live blog to find out the answers.
