MORE HOME MISERY FOR MUMBAI!

Mumbai City had a bad time of it at home last season, losing five times at the Mumbai Football Arena. Their 2018-19 season has gotten underway in similar fashion with a loss to Jamshedpur.

This game was about two teams with new coaches at the helm and it was Jamshedpur who performed better, grabbing a goal in the first half and one in the dying minutes to win 2-0. In truth, they could have finished the contest earlier had they converted their chances.

Mumbai took too long to get going. It was almost at the hour mark where they truly started their offensive push. They did have the ball in goal twice only to have it rightfully ruled out for offside.

Work to be done for Mumbai, but the best possible start for Jamshedpur and their new coach Cesar Ferrando.
FINAL WHISTLE

After 5 plus minutes of added time, the final whistle goes and it's Jamshedpur who are victorious. It took them four games to get a result last season, not so this time. Goals from Mario Arques and Pablo Morgado doing the business for the men from the Steel City.

Mumbai City 0-2 Jamshedpur FC
90+5' GAME OVER!

Jamshedpur get their second to put this game beyond reach. Mumbai, committing numbers forward, get caught on the counter and it is the sub Pablo Morgado who finishes with aplomb to confirm this victory for his side.

90+5' Ooooh... Yellow card to the Jamshedpur physio

Lol... this is hilarios, seemingly for non-cooperation.
90+4' Raju Gaikwad is back down on the floor, he was caught by Bastos. Will surely try to eat up some more time here...
90+3' Jamshedpur have done a good job of closing things down in added time, have kept the ball in midfield and not allowed Mumbai a chance.
90+1' We're going to have 5 minutes of added time. What you got Mumbai?
89' Chance for Jamshedpur to seal the game... Calvo first with a crisp, curling shot from the left sees Amrinder make a timely save. Cidoncha then goes close with a shot from the other side that is over the bar.
85' MUMBAI THINK THEY'VE SCORED.... BUT THEY HAVEN'T!

Mumbai have the ball in the net again and there's a brief moment of euphoria, but they're brought back down by the assistant's flag. OFFSIDE again. It was a fantastic free-kick from Subhasish Bose. The keeper was beat, but Bose's effort thudded back off the bar, back to Sougou who wheeled off in celebration. But the referee blew his whistle to signal an infringement.

Replays show the assistant was, once again, correct with his call. Sougou was offside when the free-kick was struck!
84' Matias Mirabaje who did well for Delhi last year is on for Mumbai

OFF: Marko Klisura
ON: Matias Mirabaje
83' Mumbai earn a free-kick just outside the box after Calvo hauls Bastos back
81' Mumbai finally have a player booked. Sauvik the man after he rakes Memo from behind with his studs.

Mumbai City #23 Sauvik Chakrabarti
80' As we approach the last 10 minutes of regulation, Mumbai doing some pressing. Sougou takes a tumble in the box, but was he fouled? Mumbai coach Costa seems to think so as he gives the fourth official a piece of his mind. But the referee has waived it off.
79' Jamshedpur make their final change

OFF: Jerry Mawhmingthanga
ON: Pablo Morgado
77' BALL IN THE NET........ BUT OFFSIDE!

Mumbai think they have found the equalizer as Mohammed Rafique gets a touch to guide the ball in from close range, but the assistant's flag is up for offside. The replays show that it was the right call.

Mumbai inching closer.
76' The goalscorer is taken off for Jamshedpur

OFF: Mario Arques
ON: Mobashir Rahman
74' Jamshedpur with a couple of changes of their own

OFF: Yumnam Raju
ON: Karan Amin
74' TIRELESS TIRI!

The big Spaniard is on point once again to make a fantastic tackle to prevent Sougou's ball from finding a teammate in the box.
Corner to Mumbai, but nothing comes off it.
66' Another sub from MCFC

OFF: Sanu Pradhan
ON: Raynier Fernandes
71' CHANCE!

Goian with a strong interception, moves forward and plays a lovely overhead behind the defence for Sougou. The Mumbai forward holds the ball up and plays it to an onrushing teammate but the effort is blocked by the brilliant Tiri.
69' Raju Gaikwad is down after taking a bit of a knock, players using the opportunity to grab a drink. MCFC's fans are doing the Poznan, no one knows why!
68' Mumbai City are faring better.... delivering more crosses of quality into the box now. This Jamshedpur defence is a solid one and they will need to do more to break them open.
66' Change for Mumbai

OFF: Bipin Singh
ON: Pranjal Bhumji
64' SWEET LORD!

Jerry with a sweet, sweet turn that leaves his defender clueless and it leads to a lovely cross from the right which goes to Calvo. He lines it up for Passi, but the Indian forward misses an absolute sitter from close range.

That had GOAL written all over it, but Passi blew it.
61' JAMSHEDPUR BLOW A GLORIOUS CHANCE!

JFC steal the ball and it's a 4-on-3 break for them down the other end, but they make an absolute mess of it as Cidoncha wanders offside. What a chance that was to score a second goal!

Made a complete mess of that Jamshedpur.
59' MUMBAI FORCE A SAVE!

It's Sougou with a headed effort, a knock-on header from close range. Subhasish stays strong to tip it over the bar.

Mumbai look to be making their mark finally on this game.
58' Flurry of action here... Goian comes rushing in with a flying header to clear the ball out of his keeper Amrinder's hands. The ball goes to Jamshedpur's Jerry who attempts a bicycle kick.

Great effort, but off-target.
56' How's that not a booking?

That looked like a foul with plenty of intent. Machado just straight up clattered Memo who's lying in pain on the ground.
54' Mumbai showing a bit more urgency definitely here in the second. There's a bit more bite to their pressing. Goian meanwhile still seems to be feeling the effects of that collision, keeps rubbing the back of his head.
51' BIG CHANCE FOR MUMBAI!

Sanju Pradhan plays a beautiful through ball to Bastos that left him all by himself and the keeper to beat. Subhasish does well to come out quickly and smother the opportunity, but MCFC would have expected Bastos to have done  better there.
50' Brief stoppage of play here... clash of heads between MCFC captain Goian and Jamshedpur forward Passi. He looks fine after some attention and good to carry on.
49' Another booking here... it's the goalscorer.

Arques booked for a sliding tackle on Rafael Bastos that got the man and none of the ball.

YELLOW: Mario Arques (Jamshedpur)
48' OOOH... CLOSE!

Tiri comes flying in with a low header at the far post that catches the entire Mumbai unit unawares. Goian though is again there to make the clearance just ahead of the line.

Almost 2-0 there....
47' LOVELY INTERCHANGE!

Jamshedpur with a bright start... get a nice bit of triangle passing going and Carlos Calvo peels off into the left and puts a good ball in. Corner to Jamshedpur.
No subs made by either side.
Tiri was the only player booked in the first half.
Here we go with the second half...
Welcome back, hopefully you took the time to get some energy into you. Whether you and me need it or not, Mumbai City definitely need a healthy dose of it after that first half showing. Let's see what they can do in the second half.
Join us back in a bit for the second half...
HALF TIME

Jamshedpur with the lead at the break. They have been the better side so far and Mario Arques has delivered the goal on debut to underline that advantage. Mumbai have had one very good opportunity to score, from a set-piece, but have otherwise looked ineffective.

Jamshedpur deservedly ahead at half-time, what can Mumbai do to hit back?

Mumbai City 0-1 Jamshedpur FC
45+1' Chance for a 2nd?

Jerry gets the better of his defender and goes off a spirited run into the box. MCFC captain Goian was quick to get out and make an excellent slide tackle to thwart the danger.
45' Bipin again with a chance to deliver a good cross into the box. It's better than his previous effort, but still not good enough.

We're going to have 2 minutes of added time.
45' There's acres of space in the centre of the pitch. Both teams are happy to back off and not exert pressure on the ball early.
As we approach half-time, Jamshedpur have looked comfortable since taking the lead. They haven't had to face much pressure.
42' Mumbai manage to get Bipin Singh open in space down the left. On his favourite foot, his attempted cross takes an arc that is so high and long that it would have taken his forwards 10 large ladders to get to it. Wasted!
41' Jerry is at it again.... Makes a mazy run from out to in on the right side and takes a left-footed shot. The effort is blocked out.
38' Who are you playing for Raju?

Raju Gaikwad with a horrendous error allows Modou Sougou in on goal. Luckily for him, Tiri was on hand to make a tackle just before the Mumbai forward could take a shot.

Someone tell Raju he's not playing for Mumbai City any more.
36' Mumbai looking to hit back and it's their captain Goian with the attempt. Advancing forward, he receives a good pass in the box and takes a right-foot shot that ruffles the net, but from the outside. Some fans on the other end assumed it had gone in.
33' GOOD CHANCE!
Marko Klisura gets some separation and manages to get his head to the delivery from the free-kick, but Jamshedpur keeper Roy makes a good save. He stole a march there on the Jamshedpur defence and it was a good chance.
32' Raju Gaikwad, formerly of Mumbai City, commits a series of fouls there and MCFC get a free-kick in a decent position.
Can they make something of it?
32' The game needed that goal and Jamshedpur have looked the more likely to score and they now have the advantage.
31' Tim Cahill liked that goal; he's scored many, many such headers in his career. Nod of approval from the Aussie.
28' MARIO ON THE MONEY!

The visitors take the lead, Mario Arques with a very good header to complete a fantastic team move that puts Jamshedpur ahead.
He started the move, sending the ball out wide to the left. Arques then continued his run into the box and received the ball back for him to apply the finishing touch with a well-cushioned header.

MCFC 0-1 JFC
25' Tim Cahill, Jamshedpur's marquee signing, is sitting in the stands. He's not going to be involved today. The game has gone into a bit of a lull here last couple of minutes. Still goalless in Mumbai.
Mumbai lost 5 home games last season, so definitely an area they'll be looking to improve this season.
23' Sanju Pradhan finds a little space in the middle and the MCFC man tries to lay it off for a teammate inside the box, but there was no one in a blue shirt alert to the pass and nothing comes of it.
21' Well HELLO!

Corner to MCFC after Sergio Cidoncha heads the ball behind goal under no pressure to gift the hosts a corner. Goian gets up well for the corner, but his header is wayward.
20' First card of the day surprisingly goes to Jamshedpur. Tiri goes in the book for stopping a counter, but a bit harsh in my opinion.
19' Meanwhile, foul by Paulo Machado here who's already committed a couple of niggling fouls.
It is going to be interesting to see how Mumbai go because a lot of the familiar faces have left. It is very much a new squad so setting an identity early will be key.
17' Jerry looks like he will be the main focal point today for Jamshedpur's attack. He's already made quite a few runs down that side and looks like Sauvik is in for a busy night.
15' Sauvik Chakrabarti helps launch MCFC's first attack of the game; makes a nice overlapping run down the right and puts a cross in, but Jamshedpur keeper Subhasish Roy comes out to collect it.
13' The Mumbai Football Arena fairly quiet here in the early going, waiting for something from their team to get excited about.
12' Here's Mario Arques, another of Jamshedpur's new boys, making a marauding run through the heart of MCFC's defence. He tries to find Passi in the box, but let's just say the Indian forward couldn't get his feet sorted and Mumbai clear the danger.
11' It's been a quiet start for the home side here, Jamshedpur have settled faster here.
10' Jamshedpur win a corner.... Jerry takes it, worked outside to Carlos Calvo who takes a shot from outside. It finds Mumbai City FC (MCFC) captain Lucian Goian flush on the nose.
7' Both of these teams are under new stewardship. Alexandre Guimaraes has been replaced by Jorge Costa. Jamshedpur also have been forced into a change with Steve Coppell heading to ATK. Their main man in the dugout now is Cesar Ferrando.
