FT
NorthEast United

33' B. Ogbeche
FULL TIME : Mumbai City FC 0-2 NorthEast United

A lack-lustre Mumbai City defence fail to find the back of the net with three games running as NorthEast United run away winners and move up to 2nd place by leap-frogging Mumbai City FC in the standings.

Both teams yet to qualify for the semi-finals but are certainly serious contenders to finish in the Top 4.

That's it from us here at Sportskeeda. This is Sayak (@theslycadet) signing off for tonight. Keep following us for all the analysis of the game.

Thank You and Good Night.
Rowllin Borges announced the 'Hero of the Match'.
Today's Attendance : 3627
90+3' Chipped in by Milan Singh over everybody towards Mohammed Rafique but the ball is slightly heavy and runs away for Pawan Kumar to get hold of and get some seconds run down the clock.
Additional Time : 5 Minutes.
90' MISS! Redeem Tlang shoots wide with acres of space around him and all the time in the world to place it beyond Amrinder but he takes too much time and his shot is wide. The move was orchestrated by a Mascia long ball to release Tlang on counter after almost every blue shirt was in the NorthEast United half. Could have been 3-0 easily there.
89' Marko Klisura heads wide from a Matias Mirabje cross.
86' Mumbai City trying hard to somehow get a consolation back but the NorthEast United juggernaut is seeming unbreakable at the moment.
82' Substitution for NorthEast United :

OUT - Federico Gallego (9)
IN - Redeem Tlang (22)
81' Federico Gallego booked for trying to run down the clock by delaying a set-piece.
79' WIDE! Bastos and Issoko play give-and-go and the Congolese tries an intelligent shot to loft it over Pawan Kumar into the goal from distance but the shot goes inches wide. Good thinking from Issoko but it lacked the right amount of weight on the ball.
78' SAVE! Mirabje delivers in a inch-perfect ball to find Issoko who heads it on to the ground and straight to Pawan Kumar.
76' Substitution for Mumbai City FC :

OUT - Raynier Fernandes (11)
IN - Sanju Pradhan (12)
73' Mumbai City throwing men forward and swinging in balls into the United box as they desperately search for that one important goal.
70' Sougou with acres of space to shoot in front of the goal, but takes too much to sort out his feet, which allows Grgic to rush in and make a splendid acrobatic block to deny the Sengenalese.
69' Substitution for Mumbai City FC  :

OUT - Paulo Machado (55)
IN - Matias Mirabje (10)
67' Milan Singh shown a yellow for clashing into Juan Mascia.
66' Gallego finds Mascia on the right, the Uruguayan gets the ball in, intending to find Ogbeche inside the box but a timely interception from Anwar Ali bails Mumbai City FC from the lurking danger.
65' Substitution for NorthEast United :

OUT - Panagiotis Triadis (27)
IN - Juan Mascia (24)
63' NorthEast United break into the counter, Gallego lays-off Keegan Pereira on the left, but the ball is slightly heavy which forces Pereira to do an extra bit and his cross goes straight to Amrinder.
61' Machado tries to find Sogou with a lofted ball but the Senegalese is flagged offside.
59' Reagan Singh goes for goal from distance, but the end result is a goal-kick.
57' Chance! Machado with a pin-point lofted ball from the middle of the park to find Marko Klisura in front of goal. Klisura's first touch is disappointing as a possible chance to get one back goes abegging.
55' Jose Leudo booked for bringing down Raynier Fernandes.
54' Mumbai City getting in crosses from both the flanks but the balls lack direction and purpose. Way too easy for the Highlanders to deal with.
51' Slow start to the second half as Mumbai City have lion's share of possession but lack penetration into the United defensive half.
48' Rafael Bastos booked for an earlier foul.
46' Second half kicks-off.
HALF TIME : Mumbai City FC 0-2 NorthEast United

A conclusive all around brilliance from NorthEast United see the highlanders go into the break with a 2-0 lead. Mumbai City did show glimpses of sharpness in their moves but never looked dangerous on the eye.

Jorge Costa needs to charge up his boys as both teams continue their qualification aspirations.

Stay Tuned to Sportskeeda for the second half.
45+2' Mohammed Rafique booked for a late challenge on Panagiotis Triadis.
Additional Time : 3 Minutes.
44' Gallego drives in a free-kick, Amrinder gets hold of the ball.
43' NorthEast United continue their dominance in all departments at the cusp of half time. Mumbai City do not seem to get the ball at all.
40' Substitution for Mumbai City FC :

OUT - Vignesh Dakshinamurthy (19)
IN - Mohammed Rafique (8)
37' Bartholomew Ogbeche goes into the referee's book for crashing into Amrinder Singh as both of them went for a stranded ball inside the box courtesy a lack of communication between Amrinder and his defenders at the back.
35' Off the woodwork! Panagiotis Triadis leaves Vignesh for the dead and somehow manages to eke out a shot and hits the near post. Mumbai City defence are in sixes and sevens here. Jorge Costa needs to get his back-four together here.
33' GOAL! NorthEast United double their lead in similar fashion as the previous goal. They hit Mumbai City on the counter as Reagan Singh delivers in a teasing low cross which ricochets off Bartholomew Ogbeche into the goal as Amrinder Singh watches on. It's 2-0 for the visitors.
29' NorthEast United shift back to high-pressure mode as they see two of their shots go inches wide in a single minute.
26' Gurwinder Singh makes a defensive howler as his headed clearance falls straight to Issoko inside the box. However, the Congolese striker fails to time it well and shoots wide. NorthEast escape luckily.
23' The game has got a bit rusty over time as United are happy sitting back and soaking in the incoming Mumbai City pressure.
21' Mumbai City come close with Modou Sougou as he heads a fainting cross straight to Pawan Kumar.
19' Panagiotis Triadis cuts in into the box and shoots. The angle on the ball was outward and the shot is wide accordingly.
16' Ogbeche breaks into pace, goes past two defenders and shoots. The shot is not up to the mark, lacks venom and goes wide.
13' Consecutive corners for NorthEast United from both the corners but Mumbai City manage to keep the scores unchanged.
11' SAVE! NorthEast come calling again. Triadis beats his marker and swings in a dipping cross towards Borges who beats Vignesh in the air and heads it straight to Amrinder Singh.
9' Off the Woodwork! Arnold Issoko finds an unmarked Rafael Bastos at the edge of the United box, Bastos shoots and hits the woodwork. Schattorie is furious on Grgic who left Bastos stranded in a dangerous position.
7' Mumbai City FC struggling to keep the ball with themselves as NorthEast United are on high-pressure mode after the goal.
4' GOAL! NorthEast United hit Mumbai City FC on counter and Keegan Pereira delivers in a low cross from the left to an unmarked Rowllin Borges who places it in the top-right corner to put the Highlanders into the lead.

2' An unconventional corner for Mumbai City after Pawan Kumar made a mess of a simple back-pass. The corner does not create any trouble for the visitors as Gallego clears the danger.
0' Kick-off in Mumbai. The home side get us underway in their usual blue attire while the visitors have donned their away red.
National Anthem over, greetings exchanged. We are set for kick-off.
The teams have lined up as we are set for the Indian National Anthem.
The West Coast Brigade is loud as usual. The teams are walking towards the middle in a sparsely-filled Andheri as a cracker of a game awaits us.
This is Mumbai City's final home game of the season. Will they return to Andheri for the Semi-finals? Well, they need to start winning games with this one.
The players are back in the dressing rooms after their warm-up sessions as we are minutes away from kick-off.
'It is a must win game for us and we are ready for the challenge. The mood in the dressing room is paramount. Mumbai do have a home advantage today but we are up for it', said Ogbeche.
Modou Sougou has been misfiring after his individual show against Kerala Blasters back in 2018. The Senegalese needs to get his scoring boots back to bail Islanders out of the on-going goal drought.
NorthEast United have won just one of their last seven game in the Hero ISL 2019 and are in dire need of three points tonight as Jamshedpur FC and ATK close in on them in the race for the Top 4.
Arnold Issoko's return to the City line-up will certainly be a positive factor for Jorge Costa's Men as it was his goal against NorthEast United in Guwahati which handed the Islanders the win over the Highlanders, earlier this season.
With Lucian Goian sitting out due to a suspension along side Subhasish Bose who is nursing an injury, the onus will be on Vignesh and Marko Klisura to keep the Gallego-Ogbeche duo off the bay.
Mumbai are on a 5-match winning run vs NorthEast United (their best run vs any ISL opponent). Can the Islanders get sixth-time lucky over the Highlanders tonight? Stay tuned to find out.

This is Sayak Dipta, who will keep you company for the next three hours or so as the actions folds out in Mumbai. What are your predictions?
Half an hour to team news from the Mumbai Football Arena, as the Islanders play their last league game at home for the season. They will, in all probability, be back at the Andheri Sports Complex for the semifinal, though.
Jorge Costa confirmed in his pre-match press conference yesterday that Subhasish Bose is definitely ruled out of this particular clash. That will be a big blow to the Islanders who will also miss the services of Lucian Goian, who is suspended.

Mumbai City vs NorthEast United Preview:

Mumbai City FC will look to get their Indian Super League (ISL) campaign back on track with a win over NorthEast United FC at the Mumbai Football Arena on Wednesday.

Jorge Costa's Mumbai lost their previous two games to FC Goa and Jamshedpur FC. They risk their second spot on the table being overtaken by FC Goa if they don't turn their fortunes around.

NorthEast United, similarly, are just one point ahead of fifth-placed Jamshedpur. In the second phase of the ISL, they beat Chennaiyin FC 1-0, lost to table-toppers Bengaluru FC 1-2 and drew 1-1 with Delhi Dynamos.

The Highlanders have never made the ISL playoffs and this is their best opportunity to surge into the semifinals. For that, they need a couple of wins and build a gap over Jamshedpur.

Given the quality they possess, it won't be hard. Striker Bartholomew Ogbeche is tied with Ferran Corominas at the top of the goalscorers' list with 11 goals. His combination with Federico Gallego has worked wonders for NorthEast United in the first phase of the ISL.

Coach Eelco Schattorie would be hoping that these two get going again and give that final push for NEUFC. The bad news is that defender Mislav Komorski is injured and ruled out for the rest of the season for NorthEast.

In the opponents' dugout, defender Lucian Goian is set to miss this tie as he has picked up a one-game suspension for accumulating four yellow cards. That will be a huge blow for Costa as Goian is the best defender in the league right now.

Serbian Marko Klisura is expected to man the defence for Mumbai alongside Anwar Ali, who turned up for Mumbai in the game against FC Goa.

Up front, Costa will hope for the return of Arnold Issoko into the line-up. Issoko sat out during Mumbai's 0-1 loss to Jamshedpur and the creativity while attacking was clearly missing from the Islanders.

Issoko's understand with striker Modou Sougou is the reason behind Mumbai City's great performances this season and having him against a tough team like NorthEast will allow Costa to formulate plans on hitting on the counter-attack.

Sougou has not scored in the previous two teams but he's on nine goals and is a contender for the golden boot. Apart from these two, Pablo Machado and Rafael Bastos need to find the winning spark for Mumbai against NorthEast.

When and where to watch: The Mumbai City v NorthEast United ISL Live game will be telecast on Star Sports Network and NorthEast Live. Live Streaming on Hotstar and Jio TV. The game kicks off at 7.30 pm IST.
