Chencho's stunner against NorthEast United
The dragon awakens.
And it's a story of 'so close, yet so far' for Northeast United, who almost pulled off a stunning victory over the unbeaten Bengaluru FC. Federico Gallego's neat finish had given Eelco Schattorie's side the hope of ending that run of the table-toppers.
Chencho Gyeltshen, the Bhutanese forward, had other plans. He came close to scoring off a volley but he kept pushing and got the equaliser for Bengaluru FC in the sensational fashion - an overhead kick.
That was in added time and Bengaluru FC saw off the rest of the game to snatch a point from this encounter.
Frustrating for NorthEast but that's football. And we saw an entertaining top-of-the-table clash rightfully end in a draw.
That's it from me, Aravind Suchindran. Log onto Sportskeeda for our full coverage. See ya!
90+6' PEEEEEEEEEEEEP! PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP! PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
90+5' Bengaluru take it slow, they are happy with the draw after almost losing this one.
Chencho rightfully adjudged the Hero of the Match for that stunning equaliser.
90+2' CHHHEEENNNNNCHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! WHAT A WAY TO GET THE FIRST GOAL FOR YOUR CLUB!
And it all came from that free-kick conceded by Jose Leudo, which was not cleared well. Kean Lewis plays it back from the left and Sunil Chhetri heads it down for Chencho, who blasts it into the goal with a neat overhead kick.
90' The long balls into the other side of the pitch aren't really helping Bengaluru FC at the moment. All it's doing is ticking the clock away but the visitors still have about five minutes of added time to get a result from this game.
88' CLOSE!
Xisco chests the ball down and lays it down for Chencho, whose volley goes just above the bar.
The Bhutanese forward is still chasing his maiden goal for Bengaluru FC and now would be a really great time to get it.
86' Pawan Kumar keeps the clock ticking for some treatment and BFC get their final change in.
OFF - Nishu Kumar
ON - Kean Lewis
85' Bengaluru have scored a lot of goals in the dying minutes of the game. Can they get one here?
Last five minutes at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium and they have a corner.
The ball falls to Udanta, who forces a volley out of play.
84' Substitution - NorthEast United.
OFF - Federico Gallego
ON - Juan Mascia
77' Substitution - NorthEast United. A defensive change for NEUFC this time, who are hoping to keep their lead.
OFF - Redeem Tlang
ON - Gurwinder Singh
76' Substitution - NorthEast United. Injury forces young Lakra out.
OFF - Provak Lakra
ON - Reagan Singh
75' CHANCE!
Chencho wins Bengaluru a corner and it falls to Khabra, who slams a right-footer towards the goal.
However, Grgic is there and he gets the block in.
75' CHANCE!
74' NEUFC defender Provat Lakra is receiving treatment outside the pitch now. The defender stretched to clear the ball and didn't get his landing right.
There might be ankle twist there.
73' OFFSIDE.
Linesman gets it right this time. Gallego chips it through for Ogbeche again, who kick-starts his run just before the pass was played.
71' Ogbeche shown a card for a foul on Delgado.
Yellow - Bartholomew Ogbeche (NorthEast United)
71' Substitution - Bengaluru FC.
OFF - Albert Serran
ON - Chencho Gyeltshen

An attacking change for BFC, who are chasing the equaliser. Rahul Bheke to play as a central defender now. Khabra and Nishu are the full-backs.
68' There's a long discussion on who's going to take it. Ogbeche, Gallego step up and the Bengaluru FC defenders are arguing with the referee about the placement of the wall.
Gallego lays it up for Ogbeche and the shot flies at Rahul Bheke, who deflects it out of the way.
66' Guwahati erupts. And there's a chance to double.
Gurpreet steps out of the box and chests the ball. Ogbeche gets the body in front of the ball and induces that foul from Gurpreet, who is booked for that offence. Free-kick from the edge of the box.
Yellow - Gurpreet Singh Sandhu (Bengaluru FC)
64' GALLLLEGGGOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL!
And all that patience pays off finally for NorthEast. Gallego makes a run on the left and while the Bengaluru FC defenders are all marking Ogbeche, the NEUFC captain receives the ball from Redeem and chips it across the box to Gallego, who takes a touch that gets rid of Albert Serran and then tucks it in to the back of the net.
63' Pawan takes time to get his hand treated and when he receives a back pass after the resumption of play, he immediately clears. No risk this time.
61' Nishu Kumar's low-drive from the corner, after Rahul Bheke fails to get to it, meets a body of NorthEast United defenders. That wasn't how Bengaluru planned their corner routine.
56' SHOT!
Paartalu forces a full-stretch dive from Pawan Kumar and wins a corner with a long-range effort after Sunil Chhetri lays it out for him.
54' Juanan not fooled this time.
Ogbeche twists and turns at the edge of the box to look for the space but Juanan keeps up to him and deflects the shot away for a corner.
52' Poor execution.
Rahul Bheke moves out of the way to let Delgado play a ground pass to Xisco, who barges out of the box suddenly. But the NEUFC defence reads that well and get the ball away.
52' OUCH!
Delgado takes a knock from behind by Gallego and wins a foul. He's going to take it and it's from distance.
46' The second half is underway and both teams have not made any changes yet. Udanta has a long-range effort go way over the bar so nothing's changed really.
A couple of puzzling referee decisions aside, both teams have not really challenged each other in this game. NorthEast United captain Bartholomew Ogbeche would be asking the question why to the ref for calling him offside when he waited for play to continue and then pounced on a loose back-pass to score.
His counterpart, Sunil Chhetri, would be waiting for an error from NEUFC goalkeeper Pawan Kumar and try to get one in ASAP.
Coaches are definitely going to come up with a plan as they look for the three points from this game.
An intriguing second half coming up. Stay tuned.
45+1' Pawan Kumar controls possession with his foot, then picks up the ball and plays it out long.
And that will be all the action from the first half as the ref blows the whistle for the half-time break.
45' NorthEast keep the ball in their own half, waiting for the half-time break.
Bengaluru FC too do the same but when Ogbeche pressures Gurpreet, he plays it out long.
One minute added.
43' Bengaluru FC with a lion's share of possession on the right flank. They retrieve the ball after Rahul Bheke's cross from the right falls to a NEUFC defender. Delgado then tries to dink it through to Xisco again but it all doesn't result in a proper chance for the visitors.
39' OGBY! WHAT A SHOW OF SKILL!
NorthEast's Ogbeche with a great Cruyff turn in the middle of the park, bamboozles Juanan, who goes flying behind the striker.
35' Pawan Kumar is so desperate to make a save that he collects a shot from Albert Serran that was anyway going out and then plays a long goal-kick.
32' HOW WAS THAT OFFSIDE?
The assistant referee gets the decision totally wrong.
Ogbeche IS offside initially but he doesn't reach out to the pass. He lurks, waits for Albert Serran to play a back-pass and then pounces on it.
He even scores past Gurpreet and the linesman raises the flag NOW.
Come on, ref. Make up your mind.
Dear assistant ref, raise the flag earlier or let the play go on.
29' Bengaluru break on the counter once Udanta gets hold of the ball but he's unable to find a pass at the centre.
He waits and waits for space and loses possession.
27' NEUFC have had two shots on target already, while BFC have managed none. Is a goal around the corner for the hosts?
NorthEast goalkeeper Pawan Kumar, meanwhile, can't wait to face a shot. He screws up his first touch again in front of Chhetri but Komorski plays it out for a throw.
22' Nishu Kumar and his opposite No 22 Redeem Tlang are involved in a tussle for possession in this 22nd minute of the game. NEUFC's ball and they push on.
20' Distance call.
Bengaluru FC midfielder Paartalu looks to surprise Pawan Kumar with a long-range effort but he is himself surprised at how bad it was.
18' Good through ball by Delgado to Xisco after a long throw by Rahul Bheke but NEUFC goalkeeper Pawan Kumar charges out to take control of the situation.
13' Corner for NorthEast and Gallego's take is to the far post.
It's aimed at Ogbeche and Xisco has landed an American Football-like tackle on Ogbeche, who demands a penalty for that push.
Nothing given.
12' SAVE!
Puitea plays it through to Redeem Tlang, who just manages to stay on-side.
The poke at goal is emphatically blocked by Gurpreet.
11' DANGER ZONE!
We have seen NEUFC goalkeeper Pawan Kumar's dribbling skills on display before but you can't be foolish enough to try that in front of Sunil Chhetri!
The Bengaluru FC captain puts some pressure on him and Pawan just saves himself.
9' There are more throw-ins, including one that Bengaluru FC didn't deserve but Khabra laughs it off and plays it back in anyway.
5' Early show of pace by Udanta Singh and he links up with right-back Harmanjot Khabra nicely to try and play a cross there.
But the NEUFC defence is at work and Komorski shields the ball well for a goal-kick.
3' Good defending by both the teams to clear away the danger without much risk. How many throw-ins have we seen already?
1' OFF WE GO!
Can NorthEast United really achieve what no other club has managed to do this season - beat Bengaluru FC?
It sounds so simple but not quite so.
Albert Serran returns to the line-up as a defender. This has moved Chencho Gyeltshen to the bench for BFC.
NorthEast United have not made any change to the side that drew 0-0 with Jamshedpur FC.

Continuation.
Bengaluru FC coach Carles Cuadrat says the team is doing well because he's continuing the project of previous coach Albert Roca. Cuadrat served as the assistant to Roca before taking over the head coach role.
"I think we are keeping on with the same philosophy. We are quite similar in the footballing aspects. I can feel that the players are working even harder. Maybe because the players know me. I can feel that they are very committed in their defensive aspects and it is nice for a coach to see that," Cuadrat said before the game.
Home form - NorthEast United have recorded only one victory at home this season out of the four matches that they have played. They will face a team which has won all its away matches so far.

NorthEast United vs Bengaluru FC preview:

The table-toppers will meet in an exciting clash at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium when NorthEast United challenge the unbeaten run of Bengaluru FC later this evening.

Bengaluru FC have collected a brain-whopping 22 out of 24 points in the league and have built a lead of four points on NEUFC despite having a game in hand.

However, Eelco Schattorie's NEUFC could be the only side this season to challenge the might of Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League (ISL).

NEUFC have just one defeat, which came at the hands of Mumbai City, while BFC dropped points against Jamshedpur FC back in October.

Not just that, the forward combine of Bartholomew Ogbeche and Federico Gallego has worked wonders for the Highlanders. Juan Mascia too has turned out to be quite the super sub for NorthEast in the last couple of games. He came up with a blistering volley against Kerala Blaster and also scored against FC Pune City last week.

The winning momentum of NEUFC was slightly halted because of the 0-0 draw with Jamshedpur FC last week. Both sides were not at their attacking best and while JFC did not even have a shot on target, NEUFC managed their first one after one hour had passed in the game.

That has never been a problem for the free-flowing attack of BFC. Sunil Chhetri hasn't scored in their last two games but others like Udanta Singh and Rahul Bheke have stepped up to keep the momentum going for the Blues.

Carles Cuadrat has found his winning combination and doesn't tinker much with his formation unless there's an injury. Miku is out for five weeks which means Chencho Gyeltshen will make the Starting XI.

Defender Albert Serran also remains doubtful and this could force Cuadrat to play Bheke as a centre-back, pushing back midfielder Harmanjot Khabra to the right-back position.

BFC have also shown that they are not reliant on just one player. They have conceded the least amount of the goals (six) in the ISL and they will make it difficult for the lethal pair of Ogbeche and Gallego on Wednesday too.
