NOR vs MUM Match Result - Indian Super League
Kwesi Appiah 49'
FULL TIME: NorthEast United FC 1-0 Mumbai City FC

A game of two halves in the most evident way possible. Mumbai City FC were all over NorthEast United FC in the first half and had the lion's share of possession and chances on goal. However, Ahmed Jahouh's Red Card changed the entire course of the game.

NorthEast United went ahead from a spot-kick by Kwesi Appiah in the early stage of the second half. The Highlanders got the grip of the game and denied Mumbai City FC any penetration into the box. A very tactical and disciplined performance from Gerard Nus' side coupled with a rock-solid defensive display allows NEUFC to earn unlikely points in the second game of the season.

This was your host, Sayak Dipta Dey for the day. Stay Tuned to Sportskeeda for comprehensive ISL coverage. Thank you and Good Night.
90+6' Cy Goddard booked for a late challenge on Dylan Fox.
90+4' CLOSE! Meetei intercepts a cross-field ball midway and breaks on the counter against Mumbai City FC. The ball ends up with Imran Khan who cuts inside the box and goes for goal and misses by close margins.
90+2' NorthEast United FC's Federico Gallego is booked.
Additional Time: 6 Minutes
90' Substitution for NorthEast United FC.

OUT - Lalrempuia Fanai (23)
IN - Imran Khan (8)
88' Mumbai City FC have given up on their passing approach and are very direct in their approach for the obvious reasons. Lots of use of the wings and long balls into the box to eke out something out of the game as we head towards stoppage time. NorthEast United FC are happy to sit back and relax.
85' Ashutosh Mehta booked for bringing down Farukh Chaudhary. The resultant freekick into the box is cleared first time by Benjamin Lambot.
83' CHANCE! A ball from Amey Ranawade into the box falls to Farukh Chaudhary who takes it in his stride and goes for goal in an uncomfortable position. The shot was through on goal but blocked by Dylan Fox on the lines.
81' Mumbai City FC have looked clueless in their build-upe after the departure of Ahmed Jahouh in the first-half. It has been all NorthEast United FC in the second-half. The Islanders are still building up from the back but lack box penetration.
78' CHAOS! A cross from Farukh Chaudhary is messed up by Subhasish Roy Chowdhary which forces Benjamin Lambot to make a desperate clearance on first time as Adam Le Fondre was meters away from the ball and almost slot it home. A big scare here for the Highlanders. Lack of concentration from the goalkeeper.
76' The game resumes after a very short water break as Mumbai City FC have a quick chat among themselves.
75' Double Substitution for Mumbai City FC.

OUT - Mohamed Rakip (2)
IN - Amey Ranawade (4)

OUT - Mandar Rao Dessai (17)
IN - Vignesh (23)
74' Cy Goddard delivers in a perfectly weighted swinging cross from the right but a disciplined and motivated Ashutoh Mehta puts his body on the line to block the ball from reaching Adam Le Fondre, who was lurking around.
72' Gerard Nus has been tactically superior so far. The Highlanders are continuing to keep their backline extremely disciplined and slow down the game, as Mumbai City FC try haplessly to get something inside the box and set up a scoring chance.
69' Substitution for NorthEast United FC. The goal-scorer Kwesi Appiah is coming off for Idrissa Sylla. A like for like tactical change to add fresh feet to the side.

OUT - Kwesi Appiah (9)
IN - Idrissa Sylla (11)
68' NorthEast United FC are slowing it down to contain Mumbai City FC back in their own half after the Islanders try to change gears in the game in order to score the equaliser.
66' MISS! Sarthak Golui heads inches over the goal from a corner swing in by Cy Goddard.
62' Mumbai City FC earn a freekick in interesting position. Hugo Boumous' attempt on goal is wide.
60' Double Substitution for NorthEast United FC.

OUT - Lalengmawia (45)
IN - Britto PM (50)

OUT - Luis Machado (20)
IN  - Federico Gallego (10)
58' A tactical change here for Mumbai City FC. Bartholomew Ogbeche goes off for Cy Goddard which means Adam Le Fondre will have a central role up front.

OUT - Bartholoew Ogbeche (10)
IN - Cy Goddard (21)
56' NorthEast United FC are exploiting the gaps in the Mumbai City defence with ease now with multiple attacking moves. The wings are being used at tandem after a very defensive first-half display.
54' Lalrempuia Fanai shows off his skills and pace, and almost is through on goal but an all-important interception from Hernan Santana bails Mumbai City FC out.
52' Adam Le Fondre tries to find Bartholomew Ogbeche from the right side of the pitch but a crowd of NorthEast United FC players track back in time and outnumbers the Mumbai City FC forward.
50' NorthEast United FC have their tails up after going 1-0 ahead courtesy of Kwesi Appiah's spot-kick, as Luis Machado goes for goal from distance but has it wide.
48' GOAL! Kwesi Appiah scores from the spot with ease to put the Highlanders up 1-0 as Amrinder Singh dives to the other side.
47' PENALTY! A floated ball finds Dylan Fox whose header towards the crowd of NorthEast United FC players is handed by Rowllin Borges in the box.
46' Second-half kicks-off.
HALF TIME: Mumbai City FC 0-0 NorthEast United FC

Mumbai City FC have the lion's share of possession and more chances on goal but the resolute and disciplined performance by NorthEast United FC's defence have never allowed Mumbai City to gain momentum in the game. Mumbai City FC's main man Ahmed Jahouh has been sent off, further complicating the second-half for Mumbai City FC. An interesting set of 45 minutes on our away on the other side. Stay Tuned to this space.
45+3' Bartholomew Ogbeche tries his level best to twist, turn and wriggle past a crowd of NorthEast United FC defenders to lay off Adam Le Fondre. There are claims of a penalty for Mumbai City FC as Khassa Camara seems to have brought down Ogbeche down in the box but the referee thinks otherwise. The danger is cleared away as we come to the end of the first-half.
Additional Time: 3 Minutes.
45' Jahouh's absence in the midfield of Mumbai City FC will be a cherry on the cake for NorthEast United FC. The Morrocan was the architect of all the Mumbai City FC moves. It will be interesting to see how Lobera manages with this 10-men side.
43' RED! A shocker already in the game. Ahmed Jahouh is sent off by the referee after the Moroccan brings down Khassa Camara with a wayward challenge from the back. Jahouh was nowhere near the ball and the decision seems like the right one.
41' Mumbai City FC show great precision in passing but the lack of final product is now intriguing for Sergio Lobera. The NorthEast United defence has been absolutely fantastic so far. Benjamin Lambot and Dylan Fox are being helped out by Khassa Camara is dropping down time and again.
39' NorthEast United swing in their first corner of the game. The corner is defender poorly by Mumbai City FC courtesy lack of communication at the box. The clearances are shaky but the absence of any NorthEast United FC player in the box bails Mumbai City FC out of potential danger.
38' Sarthak Golui goes into the referee's book for stamping on Luis Machado's feet on the left side of the field. An enticing position for the Highlanders to get something out of it. However, the resultant free-kick is fisted away by Amrinder Singh.
36' Mumbai City FC earn a free-kick in an interesting position after Lalrempuia Fanai brings down Bartholomew Ogbeche to the ground by an untimed challenge. The free-kick is taken by Ahmed Jahouh with a goal in sight but a wide deflection takes it out for a corner. The resultant corner is cleared away by NorthEast United FC with ease.
34' With all the credits to Mumbai City FC's possession-based gameplay and better chances to score, NorthEast United FC's defence has to be given the benefit of doubt that the Highlanders have put up a very resolute and defensive display so far. They are looking to soak in all the pressure and see how it pans out.
32' The game resumes after the water break.
30' We have the 'official' water break here.
28' Mumbai City FC showing their passing forte with passing it among themselves yet again. The flanks are being used at tandem by the Islanders. Several crosses already from the likes of Mohamed Rakip and Mandar Rao Dessai but the resolute NorthEast United defence led by Benjamin Lambot and Dylan Fox have managed to clear all the dangerous balls away.
25' We have an unlikely change here for Mumbai City FC. Raynier Fernande seems to be struggling with his feet and he is replaced by Farukh Chaudhary.

OUT - Raynier Fernandes (11)
IN - Farukh Chaudhary (27)
23' CLOSE! Raynier Fernandes' floated ball is headed unconvincingly away by Gurjinder Kumar which falls straight to Rowllin Borges' feet. The lanky Goan goes first time with his shot but misses it with the barest of margins.
22' Mumbai City FC's quality is evident with so much possession on the ball and all the chances on goal in the game. Mumbai City FC earn the corner no. 4 of the game but fail to make any impact as NorthEast United FC's defence stands gritty and resolute.
20' Mohammed Rakip penalised for clashing on to Luis Machado during an aerial challenge. We have a drinks break as the game is paused up for a bit. An unofficial break but the players will take it amidst the intense Goa humidity.
18' Mumbai City FC trying everything they can do to get the first goal of the game. A pass from Rowllin Borges across the pitch to Mandar Rao Dessai sets up the former FC Goa man for an attempt but the shot lacks any accuracy and is miles wide of the target.
16' A brilliantly floated cross from Mohammed Rakip from the right is headed away to safety by Benjamin Lambot. The rebound from the header cuts off the gameplay.
15' Mumbai City FC slowing emerging as the dominant side as the game goes on. The Islanders are finding gaps and pockets inside the NorthEast United FC half and building up patiently. One such move sets up Ahmed Jahouh again for a long-range attempt but this time the shot is well off target without any deflection on its away.
13' Ahmed Jahouh goes for goal from distance and misses the target courtesy a heavy deflection on the way of the shot. The resultant corner is headed up and over the goal by Mumbai City FC's Bartholomew Ogbeche.
12' Adam Le Fondre swing inside a low ball from the right side towards Bartholomew Ogbeche but Ashutosh Mehta takes no chances and clears it away. A brilliant pass from Raynier Fernandes towards Le Fondre caught the NorthEast United FC defence in surprise.
10' A very midfield based battle from the sides so far. As both the teams settle down steadily by getting the hang of the game. Mumbai City FC have the lion's share of possession so far but NorthEast United FC are not sitting down as well.
9' The corner is flat from Mumbai City FC and NorthEast United are happy to clear their lines under no pressure from the Mumbai City FC forwards.
8' Mumbai City FC showing early signs of passing football already. The Islanders play some quick passes among Ahmed Jahouh, Hugo Boumous and Adam Le Fondre, and earn the game's first corner.
6' NorthEast United FC's Dylan Fox is penalised for a foul on Hugo Boumous in the middle of the pitch. The Highlanders have an interesting outlook to the game early on. They are mixing and matching up with their gameplay. They are happy to soak in pressure but also are building from the back as well with no hurry whatsoever.
3' Henan Santana is in pain after Ninthoi stamps on him unintentionally on the touch line. However, the Spaniard is up on his feet in the next minute, causing no major worry for Sergio Lobera.
2' Mumbai City FC play it around themselves at the back with patient play. NorthEast United are happy to sit back and soak in the pressure in the early exchanges of the game.
KICK-OFF! We are underway on the second attempt here at the Tilak Maidan in Goa as Mumbai City FC in yellow take us underway. NorthEast United are in their home red colours.

NorthEast United Substitutes: Gurmeet(GK), Provat Lakra, Nim Dorjee, Rakesh Pradhan, Mashoor Shereef, Imran Khan, Federico Gallego, Idrissa Sylla, Britto PM
On the other hand, NorthEast United will be expected to play a balanced game as they might want to exploit the relatively weak defence of Mumbai City FC. They need to be on the toes defensively to contain the formidable Mumbai City FC attack. Federico Gallego's absence from the line-up is a suprise.
A very interesting line-up from Sergio Lobera's Mumbai City FC. The Islanders are going full throttle with the trinity of Adam Le Fondre, Bartholomew Ogbeche and Hugo Boumous. However, the defence may be an issue but the likes of Hernan Santana and Ahmed Jahouh can pull off a shift at the back.
