Cristiano Ronaldo 4'
Peeeeeeeeep! Peeeeeeeeeeep! Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep! Full time! Portugal huffed and puffed, but got there in the end and that should see them through to the next round! Ronaldo just can't stop scoring, can he? He's now the leading European goalscorer and boy has he announced himself in the World Cup!

You've got to feel for Morocco, though. They played really well against Iran, did the same against Portugal and yet have nothing to show for all their performances.

Hope you liked the coverage of the game, fellas. This is Amit Mishra signing off. Do enjoy the rest of the games today!
90+4' Portugal get a corner and that should release a lot of the pressure. They understandably play it short and try to keep it there...
90+3' BENATIA AGAIN! ANOTHER MISS! Just can't keep it down. A good cross by Ziyech again, but the big centre-half isn't getting underneath the shots and is smashing them over!
90+2' Yellow card shown to Silva for stopping Amrabat in his tracks while Morocco were breaking.
90+1' Jeez, Pepe takes a tumble for a pat on the back. For a damn pat on the back! Sure knows a thing or two about theatrics.
Five minutes have been added on...
90' ZIYECH'S SHOT IS DEFLECTED! Corner! Brilliant block by Pepe, though he didn't know much about it.
90' Morocco move forward with Amrabat on the right but the space isn't there anymore as Portugal have asked everyone to defend and keep that lead. Belhanda's substitution hasn't helped...
89' Substitution for Portugal

Moutinho is OFF
Adrien Silva is ON
87' Morocco are still attacking, still probing that defence but just can't find the final pass. Credit to the Portuguese defence for their rigidity in the game after taking the lead.
86' Substitution for Morocco

Al Ahmadi is OFF
Fajr is ON
85' And he hits the wall again! So anti-climactic. He got the ball through the rebound but went down far to easily and ref asks him to get up.
83' Foul by Benatia on Ronaldo. Right, just at the edge of the box. Carbon copy of the position from where Ronnie scored against Spain. Will he do it again?
82' Portugal finally manage a spell of possession that ends with a weak shot from Fernandes. a good little move involving Martins and Cedric on the right. Fernandes saw the opening and went for it, didn't connect well...
81' Dirar with a belter from around 30 yards but it was always rising and doesn't test Patricio. Again, the corner comes to a waste.
80' Corner to Morocco as El Kaabi does well to force Carvalho into clearing the ball. The cross isn't a bad one but Portuguese clear. To Morocco's credit, they win the second ball, keep it going and win another corner...
79' Benatia again get's his head on it and again, it's wide. This must be so frustrating for the Morocco fans. Their team have created quite a lot of openings but just don't have anything to show for just yet...
78' Another freekick to Morocco in a dangerous position on the right. Ziyech to take it this time too...
77' Morocco play it around nicely but in the end, run out of ideas and give to back to Portugal. It's not like the Portuguese know what to do with it as they seem like they will play for the 1-0 win here...
75' Substitution

Belhanda is OFF
Carcela is ON
74' Patricio comes out brilliantly to collect Ziyech's cross. Incredibly, he plays it long and gives possession back to Morocco straight away!
74' Morocco win a freekick in the Portugal half and it seems the likes of Da Costa and Benatia are all going forward. Need a good cross here...
73' Ziyech's pass nearly finds Amrabat in the attack third! Just a tad over-hit by the Eredivisie star. Good break. Morocco need more of that...
72' Dirar is adjudged to have fouled Moutinho as Portugal get a freekick. They take it short and don't make any use of it as Morocco press and retrieve the ball.
71' Martins dwells too long on the ball and loses it in his own half. Morocco are too eager, though, and the chance goes away.
70' Substitution for Portugal

Mario is OFF
Fernandes is ON
69' Substitution for Morocco

Boutaib is OFF
El Kaabi is ON
68' The game is starting to become a bit more laboured now as Morocco have dropped their intensity a bit after all the pressing they have been doing for a majority of the game.
67' Close, but no cigar. Ziyech just couldn't get it down in time to test Patricio as Portugal survive yet again.
66' Freekick to Morocco in a pretty dangerous position, right at the edge of the box. Guerreiro again with the foul, this time on Boussoufa. his is Ziyech territory...
65' Guerreiro was all over Amrabat there and the ref rightly awards a freekick. Should have probably been a yellow. The ref has been pretty lenient in terms of the cautions...
64' First Dirar then Hakimi test the Portuguese team with a couple of crosses. The former's was dealt with by Pepe but Hakimi's cross is straight at Patricio and he collects safely...
63' Beautiful little turn there by Martins to get out of a tricky situation in his own half but Morocco press with more men and win the ball back. The intensity has increase so much in the last 10 minutes as they look for the equaliser...
62' Portugal get a freekick and Moutinho's cross isn't a bad one, but Munir comes out bravely to win the ball and get a freekick.
61' BENATIA! OH! OVER THE BAR! How many chances do Morocco need? They've been knocking on the door and this time, Ziyech's pass finds the team's skipper in the penalty box only for him to lose composure and smash it over!
60' A bit of needless off the ball argy-bargy as Moutinho is on the deck.
59' Substitution for Portugal

Bernardo Silva is OFF
Gelson Martins is ON
58' Ziyech's cross is dealt well this time by Portugal and it nearly sets them on a counter before Amrabat, all the way from attack, tracks back to get the ball away. Brilliant work from the winger that!
57' Another freekick to Morocco in a dangerous position, this time on the left!
57' PATRICIO! WHAT A SAVE! Smashing delivery, brilliant header by Belhanda who thought he had scored only for Patricio to somehow deal with it despite the ball bouncing just in front of him!
56' Freekick to Morocco in a pretty good area. Need a good cross here.
54' Morocco are so attentive and agile with their passing unlike the Portuguese as they carve out another opening from the right. Amrabat once again provides the pass to Belhanda and the attacker's shot is caught well by Patricio. They are getting close here, fellas...
53' Dirar's cross from the right is defended well by Pepe. Again, good combination play by Dirar and Amrabat on the right wing. Throw in to Morocco.
52' Portugal with a spell on the ball here but they are just not comfortable while doing it. Morocco are always hassling them into misplacing it...
51' Wow, Ronaldo with a big chance! He came deep, won the ball and the ref blew a whistle for a freekick. Portugal took it quickly for Mario to cut it back into a dangerous area where an onrushing Ronaldo was shaping up to smash it into the back of the net. But instead, it lands in row-z.
49' Portugal are so shackled at the moment. Morocco lose possession but the midfield numbers force Fonte to hoof it long and Da Costa easily collects it under no pressure at all...
48' Amrabat with his trademark run down the right and he manages to test the Portuguese defence with a good cross. The Moroccans are able t win the second ball and keep the pressure on the Portuguese...
47' The ref had blown his whistle before Fonte got is head to it and early tested Munir. Wouldn't have counted anyway...
46' Portugal have seen a lot of the ball so far and they get a corner through Guedes' nicely disguised run through the middle. Hakimi puts it behind for a corner.
We're back and the second half is underway! Portugal get us started, shooting from right to left...
Wow, certainly didn't expect Morocco to dominate proceedings after Portugal took the lead. They've seen more of the ball, they've had more shots, but it's unfair Portugal have Ronaldo. The top-scorer in the tournament so far, his early goal has allowed Portugal to soak up the pressure and keep their lead. But they can't afford to take the foot off the games too much in the second half like they did in the first.

Second half in a few minutes, fellas...
Peeeeeeeeeep! That's half time!
45+3' Portugal manage to win a freekick in their own half as Boutaib won the ball unfairly while challenging Moutinho. Portugal should see this out now...
45+2' OH! Belhanda! Just wide! Again. excruciatingly close for the Moroccans as that was a brilliant freekick by Ziyech. Belhanda just couldn't guide it and test Patricio.
45+1' Dangerous freekick in the Portuguese half for Morocco. A bit silly that from Guerrero to foul Amrabat...
Three minutes have been added on...
44' Belhanda is down with a head injury. A wild, unintentional swing of the arm by Carvalho caught him. Mind you, Carvalho is built like a tank, so that will hurt!
43' A good sweeping move by Morocco in the right with Amrabat and Belhanda heavily involved. Amrabat again had the space to run into but that final pass doesn't find anyone and Portugal get it away...
42' A bit start and stop the game now as we've seen a few freekicks being awarded. Just what Morocco didn't need as they had good momentum going forward. Good for Portugal.
41' Booking for Benatia for another rash tackle on Ronaldo. That was coming.
40' OH WHAT A SAVE BY MUNIR! Nice, delicate pass by Ronaldo to find Guedes in the penalty box. The attacker tries to go the the keeper's right but Munir sticks out a strong left arm to keep the score at 1-0!
39' Morocco were doing well in the attacking half before Al Ahmadi went in late on Mario and Portugal get a freekick. That'll release some of the pressure.
38' Hakimi and Boutaib press the Portuguese midfield and win the ball to maraud forward and combine well on the left. By the time Boutaib receives the pass, the Portuguese defence is all over him and get it away to safety.
36' Freekick to Morocco as Cedric was a bit late and high on Hakimi.
35' Morocco win a freekick on the left and Ziyech's delivery is too deep and is collected by Patricio. Got to make the best use of these setpiece chances, Morocco.
34' Al Ahmadi with a woeful and misdirected shot after half a decent move from the Moroccans. They just lack that bit of incision. Perhaps Amine Harit could bring that in the second half?
33' Portugal though manage to keep the ball in the attacking half and win a freekick. Moutinho's delivery this time is deep and Morocco get it away. It comes straight back with Mario on the right...
32' GAH! Smashes the wall this time. That was a really good angle to score from to be honest. You expect better from the great man! No repeat of the Spain goal.
31' Ronaldo on the freekick...
30' OOOH! Morocco nearly cause havoc at the back with a long ball from the back but Boutaib received a shove on his back from Fonte. Portugal break and win a freekick at the edge of the box! This is Ronaldo territory!
29' That little stoppage might have broken the good momentum Morocco had going forward. Portugal now with possession of the ball before Fonte decides to smash it forward aimlessly
27' A brief stoppage there as Herve Renard, the Morocco coach, didn't like that at all. Perhaps he wanted the VAR as the ref has a word with him, trying to calm him down. Perhaps Portugal have got away with one...
26' What a super little ball by Da Costa who just looked up, saw Amrabat's run and pinged a 50 yard pass from the back. Amrabat did well to control, but Guerrero just about managed to get it away. Seems like he was grabbing a lot of his shorts! No VAR, though.
25' Nasty tackle by Benatia who sort of went studs up on Ronaldo's calf. Those hurt. Freekick to Portugal in their own half
24' Nearly another Moroccan move on the right. Amrabat is fast, but not fast enough as Al Ahmadi's pass is too long for the winger. Gurerrero did manage to keep up with the Moroccan, though.
23' Ziyech with a shot from the edge of the box, seemed to have taken a deflection and it is safely collected by a grateful Patricio.
22' And again, Portugal pass to around in midfield but the moment they try to get forward, Morocco apply the press. Amrabat this time manages to win the ball off Mario...
21' Ronaldo there asking for Patricio to play it long. Yes, that's how well the Moroccan midfielders have pressed in the last 10 odd minutes. Portugal have been starved of the ball more often than not...
20' Another corner to Morocco! Ziyech, Belhanda and Amrabat manage to play a few quick passes on the right before Amrabat's run is stopped by Guerrero at the expense of a corner!
18' Ziyech with a good little flick to find space and take a shot! It's blocked by the Portuguese defence! Morocco are doing really well here and we've hardly seen any Portuguese attacks since the goal!
17' A bit comical that as Amrabat, the man donning the Cech protective headgear, goes into a tackle then decides to throw away the protective head gear!
16' The Portuguese bring a bit of calmness into it now by knocking it around in midfield. A bit of passing doesn't kill anyone, does it?
15' Guedes tries to do too much in the attacking third and the Portuguese lose the ball. Moutinho, however, does a bit of counterpress of his own and manages to win the ball and find Cedric on the right. His floated cross is just about cleared by Da Costa
14' The corner is cleared well by the Portuguese defence, but it's incredible how many second balls the Moroccans are winning. They have tightened the screws since the opening goal...
13' Good little break by Morocco again with Ziyech keeping it going on the left. He sees the green grass, sprints and puts in a good delivery that is just about cleared by the Portuguese defence for another Moroccan corner...
12' Benatia's shot is saved by Patricio from the corner! Now this is becoming an interesting game as Morocco are pressing the Portuguese well when they don't have the ball...
11' Corner to Morocco! Amrabat with the run on the right but his cross into the box is blocked well by Fonte!
10' OOOH! Best chance of the game for Morocco! Dirar with a smashing little cross into the box on the right after some good build up play by Ziyech but Boussoufa's header isn't clean and Patricio is untroubled. Better.
9' RONALDO NEARLY SCORES ANOTHER! Wow, Morocco need to put a lot more pressure on him. Lucky that he scuffed his shot on the right while trying to find the far post...
7' Portugal with the ball on the right but Morocco do really well to press them and break forward. Boutaib had the chance to run at Cedric but he just isn't able to keep up and Portugal get enough men back to defend it...
6' Morocco try to provide a bit of attacking impetus after that goal which kinda came out of nowhere. You'd expect them to be better against a team like Portugal in setpieces! The irony is, Ronaldo didn't even need to leap for the header. It fell so nicely for him.
That's 4 goals in 2 games for the Ronaldo! What a header! Portugal did well to take the corner shot before a smashing cross by Moutinho found Ronaldo in the box. It was Al Ahmadi who was marking him but he hardly had him in control and Ronaldo obviously obliged. 1-0!
3' Portugal get their first corner as Silva and Guedes combine well on the right before the former's cross is deflected by the Moroccan defence.
2' Portugal with their first attack of the game but Morocco manage to get it away. Good play by Da Costa there. Morocco have a lot more balance at the back today with Dirar returning to play at right-back.
1' A super start by the Moroccans here! They play it well at the back before Benatia makes a marauding run down the centre and finds Dirar. The latter's cross is cleared, only for Ziyech to win the second ball and find Boutaib in the box. The forward's header is just over the bar!
Peeeeeeeeeeeeep! Kickoff! Morocco get us underway, shooting from left to right in their red top and green shorts. Portugal are in their changed white kit!
And the teams are out on the pitch! Kickoff is moments away!
We aren't far away from kickoff as the anticipation builds in the stadium. The Portuguese did many things right against Spain and of course, they have one Cristiano Ronaldo, a player to who even parking the bus doesn't matter cause he can just belt one into the corner from abut 25 yards out or just head it in with his incredible leap. That'll be the test for the Moroccans. Stopping Ronaldo could make this Portuguese side a bit edgy, so Benatia and co. will have be on the top of their game.

Morocco have a pretty decent side, and it's a shame we didn't get to see more in the game against Iran as they were stifled by Carlos Queiroz's side. The own goal left them devastated, but expect them to do to Portugal what Iran did to them today.

Portugal vs Morocco – Team News

Neither team have any injury issues to deal with. Portugal went with the 4-4-2 against Spain and used to good effect as they had the chances on the counter. Against Morocco, however, Fernando Santos will be tasked with the job of setting up a side that can break the Moroccan defence and at the same time, ensure they stop Morocco’s counters.

Goncalo Guedes started alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, the hat-trick man, but we could see Andre Silve getting the nod for this one ahead of the Valencia attacker. The midfield could see Quaresma coming in for Fernandes and defence could remain unchanged.

Morocco manager Herve Renard was a disappointed man last time out. The last-gasp loss to Iran has now taken away little hopes they had to pick points from the group, let alone qualify. The possession stats were in their favour last time but they just didn’t know how to break a team down, something they aren’t used to doing.

Against Portugal, they will get more chances on the break, so I expect the manager to deploy the same 4-2-3-1 system. Al Ahmadi and Boussoufa will have important roles of keeping their shape in midfield and set their team on the counter. With agile players like Amine Harit, Hakim Ziyech and El Kaabi, they should be able to trouble the reigning European champions.

Portugal vs Morocco – Key Players

Ronaldo obviously has gotten off to a brilliant start and he’ll want to keep his momentum going, With teams like Morocco and Iran to contend with, he’ll have a certain goal-return in mind. The man’s an absolute machine in terms of scoring and you wouldn’t bet against him in putting a few past Munir.

For Morocco, the attacking midfield will have to function better. Ziyech and Harit gave us little hints of what they can be capable of, and on the break, their pace could trouble the old guard of Portugal in Pepe and Fonte.

Portugal vs Morocco – Probable Lineups

Portugal probable XI: Patricio, Cedric, Pepe, Fonte, Guerreiro, Silva, Moutinho, Carvalho, Quaresma, Andre Silva, Ronaldo
Morocco probable XI: Munir, Hakimi, Benatia, Saiss, Amrabat; El Ahmadi, Boussoufa, Ziyech Belhanda, Harit, El-Kaabi
