PUN vs GOA Match Result - ISL 2018-19
Pune City
2 - 0
FT
Goa
Marcelinho 74'
M. Stankovic (P) 90'+4'
WOW! Good three points to take home for FC Pune City before the ISL break as they stun FC Goa 2-0.
Marcelinho, just before he was about to be substituted, scored a screamer to break the deadlock and managed to stay on for the rest of the game.
Substitute Marko Stankovic won Pune a penalty with his first touch of the game and converted it to put the game beyond Goa.
The Goans were unlucky twice as they struck the post. Edu Bedia hit the woodwork in the first half, while Ahmed Jahouh's attempt bounced off the right post in the second half.
The result moves Pune up to the seventh spot, above Kerala Blasters, with 11 points from 11 games. FC Goa remain fourth with 17 points in 10 games, seven behind leaders Bengaluru FC.
That's it from me, Aravind Suchindran. Log onto Sportskeeda for the full coverage.
90+5' The ref blows the whistle and it's full-time at the Balewadi.
90+4' TIDYING UP!
Marko Stankovic himself steps up to take the penalty and finds the bottom-left corner, sending Nawaz the wrong way.
That's 2-0 to Pune and Goa do not stand a chance of finding the equaliser here.
90+3' Yellow - Mohamed Ali (FC Pune City)
90+3' PENALTY!
Marko Stankovic, who just came on, is prevented from getting to the ball Mohamed Ali.
Ref A Rowan points to the spot.
This could put the game beyond FC Goa's reach.
90+1' Hume is gasping for breath after that counter.
Pradyum Reddy takes him off.
Substitution - FC Pune City.
OFF - Iain Hume
ON - Marko Stankovic
Four minutes added.
90' Breaking.
Marcelinho wins the ball and plays it through to Diego Carlos to his right. The substitute's pace is not enough to beat Mourtada Fall, he plays it back to Hume and expects the ball back but Goa make an interception.
87' SWEPT AWAY!
Diego Carlos head the ball ahead of him and skips Mourtada Fall with that touch to power into the box. But Nawaz charges out and whips it away.
Last couple of minutes left at the Balewadi Stadium. Can FC Pune City pull off a major upset tonight?
84' Substitution - FC Goa. Throwing everything for the win.
OFF - Mandar Rao Dessai
ON - Carlos Pena
83' Substitution - FC Goa. And that's another attacking change.
OFF - Ahmed Jahouh
ON - Manvir Singh
76' FC Goa make an attacking change, well sort of.
OFF - Lenny Rodrigues
ON - Jackichand Singh
75' OFF THE POST!
Ahmed Jahouh
is at the edge of the box and he has a hit.
It bounces off the right post and Pune breathe easy.
75' And because of that, Marcelinho gets to stay.
OFF - Robin Singh
ON - Diego Carlos
74' GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!
And just when there was activity at the FC Pune City bench, possibly to take him off, Marcelinho scores a screamer.
He's given ample amount of space at the centre of the pitch. He takes a touch, looks at the goal and fires with his left into the top-left corner.
Fall is nowhere near the striker and his clearance attempt is of no use. Nawaz gets a hand to it but the shot is too powerful.
71' MORE GLOVE WORK.
At the other end, Marcelinho has a go at the goal with his weaker right foot and it's pushed away by Nawaz
Marcelinho steals possession from Fall, turns and barges in and tries to find the bottom-right corner. But Nawaz keeps it out.
End to end stuff.
70' LAST MAN KAMALJIT!
Boumous takes a better shot than the others at the goal. It slips in between the feet of Adil Khan, gets a deflection and goes straight at Kamaljit, who punches it away.
65' Substitution - FC Pune City.
Mills has to leave the pitch due to a groin strain. And this could hand FC Goa a huge advantage.
OFF - Matt Mills
ON - Gurtej Singh
63' Hume misses, and is embarrassed about it.
That was a decent chance to be frank. The Pune City striker skips past a couple of defenders and has Robin Singh to his left. But he chooses to go for goal and pokes with his weaker left foot, which flows wide, agonizingly slow.
62' To break the compact defence of Pune, Goa are taking shots from outside the box like how Bengaluru FC did.
Seriton makes an attempt this time from 35 yards out, but it's nowhere close to the target.
59' ANOTHER SHOT, ANOTHER BLOCK!
Goa are smashing one after the other at the Pune goal. But Pune are defending really well.
This time, Edu Bedia fires and Sarthak Golui comes in the way.
57' SAFE DEFENCE!
This time, Matt Mills, goes low to block another shot by Coro.
Kamaljit's pass, aimed at an FC Pune City player, is intercepted by Boumous, who squares it to Coro. But the Spaniard's shot is blocked by the defender.
56' SAVE!
At the other end, Nawaz makes a fumbling save to stop that header from Nim Dorjee from going into the bottom-right corner. The rebound, fortunately, falls to Mourtada Fall but Robin was lurking there.
54' ZERO FROM CORO!
Corominas finds himself in a wonderful position inside the box. He skips through a couple of defenders and just when he unleashes a shot, Adil Khan gets his body in the way and keeps Pune in the game!
52' Meanwhile at the Balewadi, the visitors have a free-kick at the edge of the box.
And ooooooooooooo.
Edu Bedia's take just misses the post.
Who's out, who's in?
BTW, did you know that the 34-man probables' squad is out? Check out who will play for the Indian National Team in the Asian Cup here.
46' We're back on.
And ouch! Brandon needs some time after taking one for the team from Adil Khan.
No goal fest in the first half here but Edu Bedia came close to finding the back of the net at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune. After missing a couple of easy chances, Bedia hit the woodwork just before half-time. Brandon missed a one-on-one with the goalkeeper but that was mainly because of some brilliant glove work by Kamaljit Singh.
Pune City have been here and there but they haven't come as close as FC Goa have.
The second half could be different. Stay tuned.
45+2' Last few seconds and Hume plays it early from the throw in to Marcelinho, who tries to curl it into the top-left corner. That's deflected and rendered powerless.
That's it from the first 45, 47 rather.
Two minutes added.
45' And just before the HT, Hume goes into the book for a foul from behind on Boumous.
Yellow - Iain Hume (FC Pune City)
44' CHANCE!
Pune defender Nim Dorjee curls it to the left post from outside the box but it's no worry for Nawaz.
41' OFF THE WOODWORK!
FC Goa's Edu Bedia had his share of poor shots but he made up for them all with this one.
Lenny plays it wide to Mandar, who brilliantly finds Corominas in the box. Coro selflessly plays it behind to Bedia but the Spaniard's well-directed shot bounced off the bar.
39' Another free-kick for Pune City as Mandar makes a rash challenge on Marcelinho. The ball is played to the centre for Matt Mills but Mourtada Fall gets it away.
Off a throw, Robin Singh tries to head in from the right post but he's anyway offside.
33' Robin and Ahmed Jahouh both go for the ball but the Indian wins possession and takes the challenge in. He argues with the referee and is booked. That's the Moroccan's fourth yellow and he will miss Goa's next game against NorthEast United.
Yellow - Ahmed Jahouh (FC Goa)
31' CLOSE!
Pune stalwart Marcelinho threatens from the right. Tricks his way past Seriton, moves across to the post, and then plays it to the centre. But it's kept out by Nawaz
29' LONG AND OVER THE BAR!
Better from Goa's Brandon after missing that one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Bedia sets him up on the left and the winger goes for goal from the edge of the box but it's above the frame.
24' Ashique is booked for a push on Corominas.
Yellow - Ashique Kuruniyan (FC Pune City)
22' SAVE! AND ANOTHER SAVE!
And that was a brilliant stop by Kamaljit Singh to keep the scores 0-0.
Corominas plays it up to Brandon Fernandes and the winger powers in confidently, but the left-footed attempt to the near post was emphatically kept away by Kamaljit.
Off the corner, Kamaljit punches away the glance by his own player Adil Khan.
20' CHANCE!
Robin Singh wins the ball at the right flank after pushing out a defender. He plays to Hume, who back-heels it Jonathan Vila but the shot is blocked by a Goan defender.
17' WHAT WAS THE GOALKEEPER DOING THERE?
Hume plays a brilliant ball to Marcelinho and Nawaz charges out - way outside the box - to stop him. Mohamed Ali stretches from behind to get the ball and that leads to a collision between Marcelinho and goalkeeper Nawaz. The chance is nullified but Nawaz is receiving treatment for the damage on his face caused by Marcelinho's foot.
14' COUNTER THREAT!
FC Goa quickly break after Corominas wins the ball near the Goan box. Boumous is there, he plays Coro who lays it out for Edu Bedia but the Spaniard lets the shot fly.
12' CHANCE!
Seriton finds Boumous in the box for FC Goa but the Moroccan's first-time shot is wide.
Goa getting into the groove.
6' Fall-ing on the head.
Mourtada Fall makes a rash challenge on Iain Hume, nudging him on the head and Humey goes down immediately.
He recovers and gets back on his feet though.
But that was reckless by Fall on Hume, who underwent a surgery on the skull after a head injury about 10 years ago.
5' Pune's Ashique Kuruniyan catches Hugo Boumous pretty late after going down himself near the Goan box. Nothing comes from the free-kick.
0' OFF WE GO!
Pune are wearing orange and Goa white. Well, we had to mention this because both of their home and away kits are similar.
Early corner for Goa but it's cleared away.
Time for kick off.
National anthem done, toss done.
Will we see a goal fest tonight after those dull draws from the previous week?
Brimming with confidence.
FC Pune City interim coach Pradyum Reddy says the players are drawing inspiration from the previous win over Kerala Blasters.
"The players are more upbeat. Coming into this game, we want to end the year on a high. We have got one more game to go before the break. We want to build on the performance at Kochi. Last time we had a win, we stumbled at the next game. So, we want to make sure that we don’t repeat that,” Reddy said before the game.
FC Pune City just make one change to the squad that won 1-0 against Kerala Blasters. Martin Diaz is the XI in place of Sahil Panwar.
For FC Goa, Jackichand Singh drops to the bench. Mohamed Ali returns from suspension after missing the previous 0-0 draw with ATK, which pushes Chinglesana Singh to the substitutes' list. Mandar Rao Dessai comes in and Carlos Pena goes to the bench for Hugo Boumous, who is also returning from a card suspension.

Midfield Maestro.
Ahmed Jahouh of FC Goa averages about 75.11 passes in each game. He has recorded the third highest tackles (51) in the league.
Turnaround?
Marcelinho, who had eight goals last season, managed only his second goal in the previous game against Kerala Blasters. Strangely, his first goal came against the Gaurs in the 2-4 loss earlier. However, this has been his worst season in terms of his offensive play. Is it too late to turn it around?
Recharged.
FC Goa last played on Nov 28, a 0-0 draw with ATK. They have had a long break before this match, giving enough time for all their players to regroup.
Pune have managed only one clean sheet in the ISL so far - in their previous game against Kerala Blasters, a 1-0 win for the Stallions.
Highscoring encounter.
There were six goals the last time these two sides met with FC Goa managing a 4-2 victory. In the previous matches between Pune and Goa, the Gaurs have scored eight goals - four of which were scored by Coro.
Twenty-two goals.
FC Goa are leading the scoring charts with 22 goals in nine matches. The ISL's topscorer, Ferran Corominas, has accounted for eight of them.
Probable XI:

FC Pune City: Kamaljit Singh (GK), Ashutosh Mehta, Matt Mills, Martin Diaz, Sarthak Golui, Adil Khan, Jonathan Vila, Ashique Kuruniyan, Iain Hume, Marcelinho, Robin Singh

FC Goa: Mohammad Nawaz (GK), Seriton Fernandes, Mourtada Fall, Chinglensana Singh, Carlos Pena, Ahmed Jahouh, Lenny Rodrigues, Brandon Fernandes, Edu Bedia, Jackichand Singh, Ferran Corominas
FC Pune City vs FC Goa Preview:
FC Goa return to action after a long break when they travel to the Balewadi Stadium to face the eighth-placed FC Pune City in the Indian Super League (ISL).
Goa are fourth on the league with 17 points, seven behind leaders Bengaluru FC but they have played only nine games.
Pune, on the other hand, have eight points in 11 matches and come off a confident 1-0 over Kerala Blasters.
That victory, however, meant little as the Stallions are more or less out of the contention for the ISL playoffs. Pune have to win all their remaining seven league matches to have an outside chance of making the ISL semifinals.
Goa have everything to play for. A win will see them climb to the third spot on the table above NorthEast United.
Sergio Lobera's boys will bring their attacking flair back into the league after that strange and rare 0-0 draw with ATK on November 28.
Ferran Corominas, the joint topscorer of the ISL with eight goals along with NEUFC's Bartholomew Ogbeche, will hope to move up the charts.
Edu Bedia and Hugo Boumous will conduct the midfield moves while the only worry for Goa remains the shaky back-four.
Marcelinho, who struck for Pune against Blasters, will want to salvage his season with some quick goals.
The reverse fixture ended 4-2 in favour of the Gaurs. Will there be a similar result on Tuesday evening?
