Sneijder said Van Gaal is the "very best coach" he's worked with but admits he had 'nothing but trouble' working with the former Manchester United manager.

Hart and Oblak on Conte's radar
With Thibaut Courtois linked to a mega move to Real Madrid, Antonio Conte is looking to sign Joe Hart or Jan Oblak as the first-choice Chelsea stopper.

Giroud close to new Arsenal deal
Olivier Giroud will renew his Arsenal contract very soon, even as the French striker admitted that it had been a tough recent period for him.
Giroud has been important for Arsenal, coming off the bench and scoring vital goals. The most recent of those was the 87th-minute winner he scored against West Brom on Boxing Day.

De Telegraaf in the Netherlands has reported that former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam is the frontrunner to replace Bob Bradley at Swansea. Stam currently manages Reading - who are sitting strong in 3rd position in the championship. This was in contrast to Sky Sports reporting that Ryan Giggs was the frontrunner to manage the Welsh outfit.

Athletic Bilbao's young defender Yeray Alvarez, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer last week, has successfully undergone a surgical procedure.
Yeray underwent an orchiectomy and Athletic described the procedure "passing without incident.”

Odegaard to leave Madrid on loan
The highly-touted young Norwegian is set to go to either Ajax or Heerenveen after the two Dutch clubs made contact with Real Madrid over a potential loan deal. Since signing in January in 2015, Odegaard has made only two competitive first-team appearances for Real.
Dmitro Chygrynskiy returns to Barcelona for Christmas
The Ukrainian centre-back, who is currently a free agent, spent his Christmas in the city where had a terrible year of football. Chygrinskiy signed for Barca by Pep Guardiola for €15 million but never made an impression at the Camp Nou.

Swansea's American manager Bob Bradley was sacked last night after just 11 games in charge. The Swans find themselves level on points with bottom club Hull City. Bradley took over in October after the Swans parted company with Francesco Guidolin.
