It was an impressive display from Gokulam Kerala as they overshadowed the Kolkata giants in their own backyard. The minnows made a brilliant comeback, going 1-0 down in the first half after conceding a poor penalty.

Katsumi Yusa (45+3’) had given the visitors the lead before Kivi Zhimomi equalized for the hosts but Salam Ranjan Singh’s own goal (87’) gave Gokulam all three points

It’s a cherished win for Gokulam Kerala as they registered back-to-back victories against I-league heavyweights Mohun Bagan and East Bengal.

With much more at stake, Khalid Jamil’s men needed to win this fixture and grab the much-needed 3 points. A defeat now implies that their difference with leader Neroca FC and second-placed Minerva will remain intact.

Salam ranjan puts the ball in his own net! Neat build up once again by Gokulam as Salman releases Arjun into the box. Arjun, from the right, crosses low across the face of goal into the path of Henry Kisseka but Salam Ranjan deflects it into his own net!

Kerala puts constant pressure as they move the ball well around the EB box. A defensive lapse and a fine shot on the outstep from Zhimomi earns Kerala the equalizer. It was a finish right out of the top drawer.

Bilal makes a dive but the ball has too much of whip as it whizzes past the EB keeper.

Half-Time

The penalty was pretty much the last kick of the ball for the half as the referee blows the whistle for halftime. Kerala has enjoyed a good half and has done not much wrong apart from the one foul which cost them a goal.

Khalid Jamil's team will be much more composed following their late goal right on the brink of halftime. The Red and Gold brigade will need to pull up their socks in the second half and combine better to seal the match and stay alive in the title race.

Right on the brink of half time, EB gets a penalty.
A sudden burst of speed from Cavin Lobo in the middle. A wonderful linkup play sets Lobo up in the box. But as soon he goes to pull the trigger, a slight clip on the heels from the back bring him down.

The referee takes no time to blow the whistle for a penalty!

Arnab Mondal concedes a foul after a poor tackle on a Gokulam midfielder. Free kick to the hosts.

42' A good cross from Lakra from the left. But Ubaid makes his way through the middle to grab it in the end. Danger averted!
