England lift their fourth World Cup!

The England players are now receiving their winners' medal.

Raj: "It wasn't easy for England but credit to them for holding their nerve. I want to tell my girls that I am very proud of them. They didn't make it easy for any of the teams. I would also like to thank the crowds for coming up in large numbers to support women's cricket. Jhulan is a class bowler, she has shown it a number of times. I am sure this experience will help the batters. I do see myself playing for a couple of years but I don't see myself playing another world cup. Jhulan has had an excellent career, very long and inspirational for young cricketers. I am sure people at home would look up to women cricketers."

The Indian team members are being now presented with their runners up medals.

Beaumont: "After the first three games, I had to be reminded that I have been doing well over the last one year. So many of the girls stood up and it has been a real team performance right through the tournament. Lauren got us off to a pretty good start but we didn't quite do ourselves any favours with the middle order collapse. The bowlers, Shrubsole and Brunt then stepped up. In my head defending the total was never in doubt. But credit to the way the Indians batted. We came to Lord's in April, a lot of hardwork went into our preparations and it is a great moment."

Srubsole: "Just an unbelievable game, it looked for a minute like we were out of it but one of the great things about this team is we never give up, Alex Hartley got that vital wicket of Harmanpreet and we never looked back from there. It's more that you don't want the game to be ruined by rain, it was just an amazing game from start to finish and I think it's a very fitting final for what's been a brilliant World Cup. It's a WC final, there's a huge amount of pressure, so much pressure on new batters coming in. We never let the run rate get away from us, even though we weren't getting wickets, so we knew if we got a couple we'd be right in the game. [Twitter pic] Absolutely not, it's a dream and a dream you never think is going to come true. Here watching my dad play in the club national knockouts, so to be back 16 years later as a World Cup winner is just amazing."

Sarah Taylor: Probably there couldn't have been a better comeback. Proud of the girls, it's been a roller coaster year for me, but to be part of this team is simply incredible. For me, it was a case of being healthy and see how I go, I was just lucky to be here for the World Cup. India played exceptionally well. Good luck to them in the future.

Jenny Gunn: It's brilliant to be here at Home of Cricket, in front of family and friends. This is one of the best teams I've played with.

Alex Hartley: I can't believe it. This is what we've been working for. It's a dream come true for all of us. I've never stepped onto Lord's before in a game. Absolutely fantastic that we managed to pull it off. Anya Shrubsole, she's our hero.

Fran Wilson: We knew we'd be able to pull through. We've done it before. Credit to Anya. I can't tell you what was going through my head. Past experiences plus knowing 20,000 people behind you kept us calm. It was amazing, an incredible experience. I can't imagine life after the World Cup.

Anya Shrubsole: I'm lost for words. For a while it looked like we were out of it, but that's the beauty of this team. We never give up. It's been a fitting final for what has been a brilliant World Cup. It's a final, there's huge amount of pressure. We never let the run rate get away of us. I didn't even imagine I'd be here, it's a dream you never think comes true. To come back to a venue where I first came in 2001, as a World Cup winner is amazing.

India were cruising at 191/3 at one time. From there, they collapsed to 219 all out. How did it even get here? Incredible show of nerves from England. They gave their everything, putting their bodies behind every ball, stopping those singles and putting the Indians on pressure. Well deserved, England! Well played!

So, In reply to England's 228, the Indians were bundled out for 219. They came ever so close, but then it was England who kept their nerves and eked out the win.

India were off to a poor start with Smriti Mandhana getting out for a nought. Mithali Raj, then, was run out in the most horrific fashion. Punam Raut and Harmanpreet Kaur build a partnership and took India to the threshold of a win. However, Alex Hartley got rid of Harmanpreet. Then, Shrubsole came on and won it for England.

What a performance from Anya Shrubsole. Six wickets in the final match! Single-handedly running through the Indian batting order. She has done it twice now, in the semifinal and in the final!

The Indian bench does not look too happy. They feel they should have won it.

Amazing scenes here. The England players are hugging and congratulating each other.

England win by nine runs! WOW! My heart is still pounding. What a match!

BOWLED! ENGLAND HAVE WON THE WORLD CUP!

DROPPPED! How has she dropped that? That was the easiest of chances.

It's all down to Poonam Yadav and Rajeshwari Gayakwad.

England can sense a victory now.

OUT! Deepti Sharma is gone! The pressure just got to her there. Going for the big shot, ends up holing out at deep mid-wicket.

Poonam Yadav walks in to bat at No 10.

Another twist in this tale? India need 11 runs from 15 balls. England need two wickets.

That might be close! Pandey cuts hard and goes for the single. Deepi refuses as there was no run. A dive can't save her. She is gone. OUT!

215/7 after 47 overs. India need 14 runs to win from 18 balls. England need three wickets. Which way is this going?

A slight drizzle is coming in. Difficult conditions to bat in.

NOT OUT! Third umpire has his say. Deepti Sharma must have had her heart in her mouth.

The foot is just off the air when Taylor breaks the stumps, but the bail lights are not on! When the lights are up, the foot just seems to be touching. This one is close!

Wide ball, but Sarah Taylor cleans off the bails. Was Deepti's foot in the air for a moment there? Third umpire is having a look.

Everyone is on the edge of their seats! This is going to be one close finish, I tell you.

Shikha Pandey has walked in to bat at No 9. She gets off the mark with a single.

Alex Hartley with her final over. And Deepti Sharma has got the much-needed boundary! She steps down ever so calmly and plays it straught down for a four. Hard to remember that she is only 19.

Goswami is gone! What a ball from Shrubsole. Full, pacey adn Goswami had no answer. India in trouble. Still feel, this will go down right down to the wire. India 201/7 after 45 overs.

What a game we have on our hands!

And there's a wicket! Veda is gone! This has been coming for a while. She was going for the big shot again, miscued it and knew it straight away. Sciver takes a fine catch. England have fought back terrifically in the game!

200 up for India, they are edging closer.

198/5 after 44 overs. There was another risky shot from Veda but the ball falls way short. She is safe for now. India need 31 runs to win the match from 36 balls.

You can feel the tension between both sets of players. The Indian crowd is vociferously egging the team on.

Mix up! Yes, no as both batswomen go for the single, hesitate and then return. Third umpire gives NOT OUT.
