A thoroughly dominant performance from Iran in the third and fourth quarter saw them pull away from India in spite of leading by only seven points at the half.
Hamed Hadadi was the star for Iran with 17 points and 23 rebounds! He was ably supported by Sahakian (16 points) and Yakhchali (15 points).
For India, a terrible third quarter saw them only score 2 points in 10 minutes. None of the main players turned up with Vishesh Bhriguvanshi top scoring (14 points but with 6/19 FGs ). Amritpal Singh only managed 6 points (2/14 FGs) while Amjyot Singh scored 7 points (2/13 FGs).
The result sees Iran go through to the semi-finals along with South Korea and Iraq who beat Chinese Taipei and China respectively.
Iran's defence has been resolute, not giving the Indians a foot of space and forcing them to take bad shots. On offense, their ball rotation ahs given their teammates easy shots to take with enough time to set themselves up for a shot.
With Hadadi on the bench, India are still looking for perimeter shots. There's no way they can erase the deficit but they aren't exactly hot from beyond the line to attempt so many shots.
Iran's average winning margin was 39 points before this game. They lead by 34 but India have handed it to them on a plate.
Less than four minutes to go and Yakhchali makes a superb three-point shot from near the baseline. That was another nail in the coffin for India and a few players have their heads hanging low.
74-37! Iran have now scored double the points as India in the entire game.
REJECTION! That's the defence we want to see. Amritpal Singh stands strong and blocks a layup. But he can't convert at the other end.
Nothing is going India's way. Amjyot is whistled for a travel violation and Iran have the ball back.
Amritpal Singh continues to struggle from the line. After he was fouled on a fast break, he converts only one free throw.
India finally score as Vishesh nails a three-pointer. But their defence is all over the place. 67-36 is not a pretty scoreline after the first half ended 38-31.
Make that a 21-0 run as Iran convert another three-point shot.

The fourth quarter is underway and it's the same story for India. A desperate three-pointer goes in vain as Iran dominate the boards and grab the rebound.
India have been physically and psychologically beaten in this quarter. They only scored 2 points in the ENTIRE QUARTER.

Hadadi makes another couple of free throws and Iran lead 59-33.

With 3 minutes to go, India are in foul trouble again and Iran have free throws for every foul - which they are making good use of.
Iran have blown India away in the third quarter. If the offense let them down in the first half, their defence has been collectively mediocre in the second half so far.

Iran so dominant now that even the shortest player (5'11") on the court is claiming offensive rebounds and drawing the foul at the same time!
Iran are simply unstoppable at the moment. You must wonder why India haven't called a timeout. Amjyot misses another hesitant shot and Iran break away at the other end to increase the lead to 15 points. 46-31 now.
