ISL 2017 Match 3: Chennaiyin FC vs FC Goa Live Match Updates

Full Time! With that, we come to the end of the match, as the referee blows the whistle, signalling the end of the game. This was a cracker of a game. A game of two halves, to be honest.

Goa started the game with great impetus in the first half, scoring three goals before the half-time break. However, Chennaiyin came in to the second half with a lot of questions for Goa, who, at some points, did not look like they had any answers for them.

While Chennaiyin managed to get two goals back, the Gaurs held on for dear life in the end, and eked out the three points. This victory puts them on the top of the table for now.

90'+5 - Goa get a free kick inside the Chennai half, but they only manage to give it straight to Karanjit, who plays a long aerial ball to set Jeje through. However, the ball was too fast for the Mizo striker, as Kattimani smothered it.

90'+4 - A bit of panic in the Chennai defence, as the Goa attackers close them down. However, they managed to clear the danger.

90'+2 - Arana comes on for Coro in a Chennai substitution

90'+1 - The Referee as added 5 minutes of injury time.

90' - Bruno seems to have a bit of an injury here, as he winces in pain, while lying down on the ground. However, he gets back on his feet soon, as the game commences.

87' - Nelson takes the corner for Chennai, but it was too long, and the ball goes away from the danger area.

87' - Manvir comes on for Lanzarate

86' - Francis Jinked past a defender and pulled the trigger from the edge of the area, but it took a deflection, and Kattimani smothered it calmly.

84' - GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! Raphael puts Chennaiyin right back in the game! Kattimani made a movement towards his right, and Raphael calmly slotted the ball the other way. That was as calm as it could have gotten. We seem to be in for a frantic finish, here.

83' - PENALTY! Jeje gets shoulder-barged by Kattimani in the box, and the referee immediately points to the spot!

80' - Couple of substitutions for both the sides, as Liston comes on in place of Brandon for Goa, while Francis comes on for Bodo

78' - Goa are playing it coolly at the moment. They are keeping the ball and passing it around at the back, in an attempt to slow down the game.

75' - Bodo tries to jink past Narayan Das on the right flank, and enter the box. However, Das shows all his experience, to shield the ball, and watches it trickle out for a goal kick.

74' - Coro breaks into the box from the left, check, and lays it off, but the Chennai defenders clear the ball.

73' - Edu cuts in from the left, and pulls the trigger, but his shot is too wide.

70' - GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!! Calderon pulls one back for Chennai from a freekick! The Spaniard hit a low shot straight at Goa keeper Kattimani, but fumbled the bouncing ball into the net. His coach surely wouldn't be too happy about that.

68' - Calderon plays in a clever chip to Nelson at the far end of the box. The winger went down under some pressure, but no penalty was awarded.

66' - Calderon plays in a good pass through to Jeje, but there's too much weight on that pass, as Karanjit latches on to the ball.

64' - Chennai seem to have laid a siege on the the goal. The run of play has completely changed in the second half.

61' - Corner! Nelson swings in a corner, as Jeje tries to head it down, but his header is wide.

60' - Thoi shows some quick feet on the left flank, and earns a free kick.

58' - Nelson breaks through on the left, and makes an entry into the box, but he soon runs into a crowd, and the move peters out.

55' - Bikramjit Singh gets booked for a late tackle on Bruno.

54' - Bruno swings in a free kick, but it is headed out. The midfielder latches on to the rebound, and swings in another cross from the left, but Chennai keeper Karanjit punches it out again!

52' - Thoi breaks into the box from the right, and goes down under some pressure, but the referee signals for a goal-kick.

51' - Chennai have started with a great intensity, making wave after wave of attack on the Goa area.

47' - Chance! Nelson latches on to a poor pass, and goes through on goal. However, with just the keeper in front of him, he only manages to hit the bar.

46' - FC Goa get the proceedings underway, but Chennaiyin get on the ball immediately, and launch an attack. However, the Goa defence manages to thwart ti.

And we're back for the second half, as the teams come back out on the pitch.

Chennai legend Bernard Mendy came down to share his thoughts on the game. Here's what he said.

"It's a little bit scary. Goa are playing well and are controlling the ball. In the second half, there’s nothing to lose for Chennaiyin, so we should fight. This is home. I’m so happy to be here and see the fans. I played here for 3 years, and it's been fantastic."

Half Time! and with that, we come to the end of the first half. After two goalless games, we have had as many was 3 goals in the first half of this one. FC Goa have been simply unstoppable, especially on their counter attacks. One player, who has been central to their fortunes Brandon Fernandes.
Chennai need to find their feet in the game soon, or this could turn into an ugly rout at the hands of Goa. Can they overcome this rut? or will Goa run aaway with the game? lets find out in the second half.

45 + 2' - Thoi Singh manages to float a cross into the Goa box, but Keeper Kattimani punches it away.

45' - Mihelic shows another flash of his brilliance, as he chips Jeje into space behind the Goa defence, inside the box. However, the chipped pass was a bit too far for the Mizo striker.

42' - Brandon smashes the resulting free-kick straight at goal, but Karanjit managed to tip it over the bar.

42' - More trouble for Chennai, as Brandon breaks down the left, with only the keeper in front of him. Karanjit rushes outside the box, but Brandon dribbles past him. However, seeing the danger Karanjit brings him down. Surprisingly, not even a yellow card was awarded for that.

39' - GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a day Goa are having! Mandar Rao Desai puts them in a 3-0 lead! This too, came out of a counter attack, as Bruno played a fine through ball to set Mandar through in acres of space. Karnjit got a hand onto it, but was unable to thwart it. With this goal, Mandar Rao Desai becomes the first Indian to score a goal in ISL 2017!

37' - Corner! Karanjit seems to have recovered his composure, here, as he punches it away.

36' - Some comical bit of play by Dhana, here. In his attempt to not give away a throw, he plays the ball out for a corner to Goa. Wonder what was going on in his head.

35' - FC Goa break again, as Bruno plays Seriton into the box on the right. However, his pass had a bit too much power on it, as Karanjit smothers it.

34' - Chennaiyin just cannot seem to get out of the rut, at the moment. They look lost, when Goa are in possession.

29 - GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!!!!! Bruno puts Goa 2-0 up! Another swift attack from Goa, as Coro gets in a shot from a tight angle, but it is saved by Karanjit. Brandon goes for a rebound shot, but that is also saved. However, Bruno did brilliantly to chip the keeper on the third successive attempt, as the ball kissed the underside of the bar, and into the goal. A marvellous goal, this!

25' - GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL!!!! Ferran puts Goa in the lead! Goa broke early from a Chennai corner, as Coro surged into the Chennai box, and slotted it into the bottom corner. He becomes the first player to score a goal in ISL 2017!

22' - FC Goa seem to have settled into the game well, as they are dominating the ball in the Chennaiyin half. However, they seem to be lacking the sharpness in the final third.

20' - Brandon does well to get himself into a good position at the edge of the area, as he drives at a cutback. however, his shot was way off the target, as it sailed into the stands.

17' - It seems to be a slow-paced game, today, as both the sides try to seize each-other up

15' - Corner! This is the first Corner of the match, as Chennaiyin playmaker Mihelic swings it in. However, the ball is headed away to safety.

14' - Things are already getting heated up there, as Sereno gets into a heated discussion with the referee.

13' - Dodo is played through inside the box in a dangerous position, but the young Chennaiyin player runs into traffic. There were shouts of penalty from the Chennai fans, but neither Bodo, nor his teammates seemed interested in appealing for that one.
