Italian Grand Prix: Race

Following a nervous hour after the race where Hamilton was at risk of being disqualified as the winner for being below minimum tyre pressure, stewards have announced they will take "no further action" against the driver. He maintains and strengthens his lead over teammate Nico Rosberg in the championships, now 53 points ahead.

Nico Rosberg is told by Mercedes crew that Vettel went out earlier than anyone on the option, so "P2 is still possible, Nico, still possible."

Hairy situation! Roberto Merhi almost gets the back of Kimi Raikkonen going into the pits, but narrowly avoids him. Sebastian Vettel is a good 19.035 seconds behind leader Lewis Hamilton more than halfway into the race, so it looks likely to be a Mercedes win.

Nico is asked to pass Kimi...and he does.

Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari pits and is now on medium compound, as does Lewis Hamilton, who also switches to mediums.

Vettel rejoins the race back in second.

Lewis is still out front leading the race. Will Mercedes pull him in now or let him race for a few more laps?

Kimi is already up to third but it still due a pitstop as compared to most of the racers behind him.

Max Verstappen has been a revelation this race, managing to overtake Alonso. He started at the back of the grid with penalties, but fell back after overtaking and is currently in P16.

Nico Rosberg is told by Mercedes crew that there is "quite a bit of wear on the front brakes." Bottas informed by Williams team that Rosberg is having trouble and to 'watch out' for him.

A dramatic first lap as Kimi Raikkonen stalls near the beginning and he's now in P11. Teammate Vettel is in P2 as Romain Grosjean of Lotus is out of the race.

Formation laps are on right now as drivers get ready to race at Monza, with some tailwinds today.

Fernando Alonso, Daniil Kvyat, Daniel Ricciardo on medium compounds today, and will need a change much later than those on softs.

Teams intending on a one-stop strategy here, with frontrunners on softs today.
