Welcome to the Sportskeeda liveblog of the China Open 2017 second round. Defending champion PV Sindhu is now the last Indian remaining at the 2017 China Open after the second round exits of Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy earlier in the day.

Sindhu is the second seed and faces World No. 104 Han Yue of China, who is a qualifier at this tournament. Yue is just 17 years old but has already given a demonstration of her immense talent by reaching the final of the World Junior Championships in October. She is already touted to be one of the most promising shuttlers from China.

They have never met before this showdown.

This tournament presents an opportunity for Sindhu to find her lost consistency. The World No. 2 has shown signs of struggle since her second Superseries title win of the season at the Korea Open. Even when she looked to be regaining her form at the French Open, she got exhausted by the time she reached the semi-finals and played a poor match against Akane Yamaguchi.

At the ongoing China Open, Sindhu battled hard for an hour to notch up her first round win over the Indonesia Open champion Sayaka Sato. That definitely helped find her missing spark and she would very much like to continue in that same vein.
