Good afternoon and welcome to the Sportskeeda liveblog of the 2017 Senior National Badminton Championships semi-finals. Second seed Saina Nehwal takes on fifth seed Anura Prabhudesai for a place in the summit clash.

The two have never met on the international circuit. While Saina is currently ranked 11th, Prabhudesai is 146th. The 19-year-old is one of the upcoming talents and reached the final of the Mauritius International in June.

She battled hard in her pre-quarter-final match against qualifier, Tanishq M and needed three gruelling games to book a spot in the last-eight. The quarter-final was an easier affair and she ran away in the second game against qualifier, Saili Rane.

She needs to play as much error-free as possible for she faces a formidable opponent in Saina Nehwal. The former World No. 1 has been a two-time champion at the National Championships and is yet to drop a game in this edition. Saina has looked very impressive and pretty determined to try and get that third crown at the Nationals.

Experience-wise, Saina is miles ahead and she is expected to come through this easily. Nehwal would like to remain as fresh as possible before tomorrow's final where things could get tricky.
