GAME 3

Saina needs to be careful not to concede early errors here. She has taken a slim lead of 4-3 here.

And the 2010 champion Nehwal also has 2 game points of which she converts her first one for 21-18

Nehwal looks to have the taken the wind of Cheung's sails and is now up 19-17

After the tournament referee's intervention for a disputed call, Nehwal is looking more free and is now up 18-17

Saina went up 16-14 but a superb angular jump smash from Cheung followed by a Nehwal error helped the local hope to come back for 16-16.

Saina's fitness is being thoroughly tested here. Showing her guts and determination, the Indian is now breathing down Cheung's neck. She trails 13-14.

Oozing confidence, Cheung quickly reached game points and converted one to take the one-sided opener, 21-8

And it is a ten-point gap now with Saina trailing 8-18.

Saina is beginning to cut down the big lead even though it is still a long way to go. The Indian now trails 6-15.

Saina finally gets a point to make it 4-14 as Cheung's shot lands long. But the local hope is very much in the driver's seat so far.

This is fabulous display from Cheung. Using sharp angles to keep her shots placed in the deep corners of the court, she has put Saina off-balance for most part of this first game. Currently, Cheung is up 11-3

The Hong Kong shuttler is using elevated shots to keep the Indian uncomfortable. The tactic is working as she has now raced to 5-2 before extending it to 8-3.

Cheung is exploiting Saina's movement and has opened up a 3-1 lead.

Saina has a 1-0 head-to-head record over her quarter-final opponent - the World No. 26 Cheung Ngan Yi and will hope to extend that record further when the two meet today.

For Saina, this is just her second tournament since knee surgery. Both her wins in this tournament so far came in three games. Suffice to say that the former World No. 1 is growing in confidence with every match.
