India U-19 level ODI series against England U-19

Himamshu Rana whose century went in vain in the first ODI, scored a fifty today against the England under-19 side. Unlike the pitch at Wankhede, the pitch at Brabourne was pretty much on the slower side.

Most of the Indian batsmen barring Rana and Harvik Desai, found it difficult to get going. Matthew Fischer and Henry Brooks shared six wickets amidst themselves. Prithivi Shaw failed again, he departed after being bowled by Fischer in the 7th over. Shubham Gill joined Rana in the middle and scored through some delightful strokes.

Harvik Desai anchored the later part of the innings and with Shiva Singh’s contribution, they managed a score of 288/8 in fifty overs. England started cautiously and credit to Shivam Mavi, they were reduced to 40 for 3.

No English batsmen apart from Delray Rawlins managed to score above 30. England were bundled out for 158 in 33.4 overs. Anukul Sudhakar Roy ended up with figures of 3 for 34. The third ODI is scheduled on 3rd of February in the same venue.

Michael Hussey devastated at Andre Russell's one year ban.

Former Australian batsman Michael Hussey has said that he is devastated about West Indian all rounder Andre Russell being suspended from the game for a year on account of a doping violation.

"I feel really sad for him. He’s been through a really tough time. I’m devastated for him to be honest," Hussey told cricket.com.au.

Hussey further said that the ban has come when Russell was at the best phase of his career and added this suspension will make him a much stronger person.

"It’s just really sad because he’s right at the prime of his career right now. I know he’s got an injury at the moment but he’s arguably the most devastating T20 player in the world and we’re not going to be able to see him for a whole year.

"He’s a tough guy and a tough character so I’m sure this whole experience will make him stronger and make him a better player and a better person in the future," he said.
