Shikhar Dhawan back in contention for a place in the playing XI

A day after he visited a hospital in Kolkata following an injury scare, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan is back in contention for a place in the playing XI.

A team official said that the 30-year-old was perfectly fine now and made it clear that the left-hander was available for selection.

"He's perfectly fine," the official said.

Dhawan has endured a tough time with the bat in the series so far, having made low scores both in Pune and Cuttack and will need to put in a big score if picked in the game in Kolkata on Sunday.

Michael Carberry returns to training

England batsman Michael Carberry returned to training on Friday. The left-hander was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor last July.

"Michael is doing really well and it's great to see him back in the nets and striking the ball. Obviously it's still fairly early on in terms of working his way back to full fitness and there's currently no timetable for a return to playing, but we'll see how he progresses over the coming weeks and be sure to continue to support him in whatever way we can," Giles White, the Director of Cricket at Hampshire said.

Carberry underwent a surgery last year and as a result missed a large part of the second half of the England summer.

This is not the first time that Carberry has suffered from such a horrific illness.

In 2010, it was revealed that Carberry had blood clot in his lungs.
