South African spinner Robin Peterson announced his retirement from all forms of the game with immediate effect on Wednesday. The 37-year old represented Proteas in 15 Tests, 79 ODIs and 21 T20s.
Talking to the media on Wednesday, Peterson said that he was thankful to the national board for giving him the opportunity to play for the nation. The left-armer said, "It is with mixed emotions and fond memories that I would like to announce my retirement from professional cricket."
"It's been an incredible journey with so many people that have supported and encouraged me along the way," he added.
Peterson made his international debut in 2002 against India in an ODI at Sri Lanka.
England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has warned the Australian players not to panic and make knee-jerk reactions in the wake of the team's 177 run defeat in the first Test match against South Africa.
"The one thing you can't do is make drastic changes after one Test loss," Pietersen was quoted as saying by Cricket Australia website.
When asked about his advice for the Australian team following the humiliating defeat, Pietersen said, "Don't stress, don't do anything too drastic, just live this out for a couple of weeks, see where you get to, then you can go back to the drawing board."
The second Test is scheduled to start from the 12th of November at Hobart.
Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is all set to undergo a bowling action test in Australia later this month. Hafeez will undergo biomechanics test on his bowling action on November 17 in ICC accredited lab at Brisbane, Australia.
Hafeez was suspended by ICC from bowling in international cricket last year after being reported twice in a period of 12 months. His ban expired in July earlier this year, making him eligible to appear for re-test regarding his action.
The PCB had earlier stated that Hafeez won't be considered for the national team's selection unless he cleared the bowling test.
New Zealand radio station, Radio Hauraki, was fined yesterday for carrying out a prank over Ben Stokes' mother. Radio Hauraki shock jocks Jeremy Wells and Matt Heath were mocking Kiwi-born Stokes' role in England's loss to the West Indies in the World Twenty20 final last April before the on-air incident.
His New Zealand-based mother Deborah called the radio station to take issue with her son's treatment and found herself talking to Heath and Wells, unaware she was on air.
Stokes, who was born in Christchurch, conceded four consecutive sixes in the final over to give West Indies the victory in the T20 World Cup earlier this year.

Former Australian bowler Merv Hughes has lashed out at Cricket Australia regarding their policy of resting the national players for Sheffield Shield.
“I’m bewildered with how we tend to baby some of these guys and wrap them up in cotton wool,” Hughes was quoted as saying by Fox Sports News.
“If you are trying to manage players in Shield games you are sending out the wrong message. You should actually be trying to reinforce to them how hard the game of cricket is," he said.
Hughes stated that Cricket Australia's decision of resting pacers Mitchell Starc and Peter Siddle for the Sheffield Shield matches in order to keep them fit for the Test series against South Africa was ridiculous given the fact that both players had hardly played any matches since their return from injuries.

Herath gets Sri Lanka closer to victory
Sri Lanka’s left-arm spinner Rangana Herath once again delivered when it mattered to grab a five-for and have Zimbabwe struggling at 180/7 at stumps on Day 4 of the second Test which is underway at the Harare Sports Club.
Sri Lanka need just three wickets to win the game tomorrow while the hosts still need 311 runs. The islanders had started off the day at 102/4 and reached 258 for nine after 81.4 overs. They then declared the innings to set the home side a mammoth target of 491 runs.
The 38-year-old veteran , Herath then made sure Zimbabwe were on the back foot throughout their chase. He accounted for the first three batsmen and then also picked up the likes of Peter Moore and Graeme Cremer who were entrusted with the lower order responsibilities for Zimbabwe.
The hosts lost five wickets for 147 in the last session of the day with Herath bagging 5/45. Donald Tiripano and Craig Ervine remained unbeaten on 0 and 65 respectively.
