That's a wrap for this show, folks. This has been Sportskeeda's coverage of SmackDown Live, and we would like to thank you for joining us.

07:35 (IST)9 AUG 2017

07:33 (IST)9 AUG 2017

We're about to go off air with a visual of a victorious Orton when Rusev appears out of nowhere and superkicks the Viper.

When we return from commercial, Mahal has turned the tide and has Orton in a chin lock. However, Mahal misses a clothesline and goes shoulder first into the ring post. This allows Orton to hit his father's patented superplex for two. Orton connects with strikes and lariats which he follows with a fall-away slam. Mounted punches in the corner, but Mahal shows signs of life and tries to reverse. He eats Orton's signature powerslam for his troubles.

Just when Orton looks ready to overwhelm Mahal, the Modern Day Maharaja manages to connect with a knee to the temple. Mahal then sets up the Khallas, but Orton counters and hits the rope-hung DDT. Orton calls for the RKO, but Jinder connects with a superkick. Randy Orton then finally hits an RKO after countering another attempted Khallas and...

Jinder Mahal vs, Randy Orton
The carpet is actually in the ring for Jinder Mahal's entrance. Vince sure loves his ethnic stereotypes, doesn't he? The crowd is chanting loudly for Jinder, and it's clear that there is no love for Randy Orton in Toronto. Once the bell rings, the Viper doesn't bother with a lock-up and just starts to hammer away at the WWE Champion.

Mahal rolls out of the ring but gets repeatedly thrown into the barricade by the frustrated Randy Orton. The youngest World Champion in WWE history then clotheslines Mahal and backdrops him on the announce table. He then sets up for an RKO on the announce table, but the Modern Day Maharaja blocks and sends Orton flying over a barricade.

07:10 (IST)9 AUG 2017

We get a pre-taped segment where Renee Young is interviewing Shinsuke Nakamura. He expresses his respect for John Cena and says that it his destiny to win the WWE Championship at Summerslam. He promises the beginning of the Nakamura Dynasty.

07:08 (IST)9 AUG 2017

Carmella and Ellsworth are sauntering backstage when they run into Natalya. The Queen of Harts warns them not to interfere in her business at Summerslam. Carmella and Ellsworth re-assure her that they're counting on her to win.

07:03 (IST)9 AUG 2017

Both women go back-and-forth, and Carmella begins to tease a superplex spot. However, Naomi fights her off and gets ready to take off when James Ellsworth thwarts her and causes her to fall. The Chinless Wonder is back!!! Carmella takes advantage and connects with a superkick for the win.

Carmella def. Naomi

06:58 (IST)9 AUG 2017

Carmella connects with a few elbows and slaps, but Naomi retorts with an enzuigiri and sliding slap as we head to commercial.

06:56 (IST)9 AUG 2017

Naomi vs. Carmella
Even though Naomi's gimmick suggests that she's a dubstep-loving hippie who has a fondness for intoxicants, she's actually a full-blown babyface on television. A curious character indeed.

06:52 (IST)9 AUG 2017

06:51 (IST)9 AUG 2017

The Ravishing Russian and Tamina are backstage. They have a strange altercation which kind of implies that Lana will become Tamina's manager. However, this is WWE and the creative team isn't exactly known for its attention span.

06:46 (IST)9 AUG 2017

06:46 (IST)9 AUG 2017

This was a tremendous segment on its own merit, but the tie-in to the golden years of professional wrestling makes it a winner in my book. #fanservice

06:44 (IST)9 AUG 2017

Owens then says that Styles has cause for concern because of the latter's history with Shane. Owens then pulls up some footage from Survivor Series 98 where Shane refuses to count a fall for Austin against Mankind and implies that Shane isn't an objective referee. Shane tries to assuage the concerns of Owens and Styles, but the segment devolves into chaos and ends with the Phenomenal One accidentally hitting Shane with a Pele Kick while the Prize Fighter slinks away.

06:39 (IST)9 AUG 2017

Shane McMahon says that Kevin Owens doesn't believe that he is a competent referee, but the Prize Fighter is quick on his feet in more than one sense of the word. Owens says that a McMahon once screwed a legendary Canadian wrestler — in reference to the Montreal Screwjob. The crowd begins to chant, " You screwed Bret." However, Owens says that he isn't worried about Shane screwing him at Summerslam because of the PR implications.

06:34 (IST)9 AUG 2017

Shane McMahon, who will officiate the United States Championship match at Summerslam, comes out to the ring. He invites Kevin Owens and AJ Styles to the join him. This match is going to be the people's main event at Summerslam, folks. Let's not forget that the contemporary wrestling fan wants to watch great wrestling, not some Samonan dude going ' oooooaaahhh'.

06:26 (IST)9 AUG 2017

06:24 (IST)9 AUG 2017

Charlotte vs. Lana

Charlotte has a look of glee on her face; after all, she asked Shane McMahon to make this match not so long ago. Charlotte is one step ahead of her opponent the whole time. She taunts Lana and picks her apart with ease. The Queen eventually hits a big boot followed by a figure eight to put the Ravishing Russian out of her misery.

Charlotte def. Lana

06:21 (IST)9 AUG 2017

Charlotte is out next for a match with the Ravishing Russian. This is, of course, part of the Lana-Tamina storyline that makes everyone cringe.

06:16 (IST)9 AUG 2017

06:15 (IST)9 AUG 2017

We then get another Breezango segment. Fandango returns to Breeze and claims to have the ability of foresight. He says that the next person to walk into their office is the one who destroyed Tully the horse. The man who walks in is Arn freaking Anderson!!!  The enforcer admits to destroying their silly toy and leaves after grabbing a couple of doughnuts. What a bad ass.

As we return from commercial, Zayn reverses a back suplex from Jey Uso and makes the tag to Dillinger. The Perfect 10 is running wild on the Usos, but he attempts a drop-kick to the outside which is intercepted. Sami Zayn hits a plancha on both Usos and then eats a superkick from Jimmy. The Usos then make a tag, which Dillinger cannot see. They work on the Perfect 10's knee and Jimmy gets him to submit to the Tequilla Sunrise.

The Usos def. Tye Dillinger and Sami Zayn

After their match, the Usos attempt to cut a promo, but they're accosted by The New Day. The reigning Tag Team Champions throw Jey out of the ring before getting a steel chair ready for Jimmy. However, both Usos manage to squirm out of the ring.

05:57 (IST)9 AUG 2017

The Usos vs. Tye Dillinger and Sami Zayn
The number one contenders for the SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships are taking on two of Canada's finest. Dillinger, who has all the swagger of a man about to count the lights, and Jimmy start things off, and the Perfect 10 quickly gains the upper hand. He shoves Jimmy into a corner and hits 10 mounted punches. He then tags in Sami Zayn, but Jey saves his brother from a Helluva Kick. The Usos then attempt to regroup from ringside as we cut to commercial.

Just as Corbin is about to leave, Daniel Bryan makes his way out to the arena. He's more over with the audience than Cena or Corbin. It's a pity that WWE forgot how to book babyfaces. Bryan pokes fun at Corbin and announces that the Lone Wolf will face John Cena in a match at Summerslam. In case you aren't up to speed with these things, this basically means that we're getting a cash-in at Summerslam.

05:45 (IST)9 AUG 2017

Corbin comes out to interrupt the West Newbury native, and he debuts a new entrance theme, which is presumably inspired by late 90s Undertaker. The Lone Wolf demands that Cena respect him, instead of Nakamura. The Leader of the Cenation calls Corbin an overrated dumpster fire, and the crowd happily chants along in unison. An irate Corbin then says that he's only interested in winning the WWE Championship and that Cena isn't worth his time.

05:42 (IST)9 AUG 2017

John Cena's out to start the show, and he pays his respects to the King of Strong Style. Even though it starts out as another goofy Cena promo, he emphasises that Nakamura beat him clean. Cena also makes it a point to emphasise that he seldom loses clean.

05:35 (IST)9 AUG 2017

We open with a recap of Shinsuke Nakamura's victory against John Cena on last week's episode of SmackDown Live. In case you're wondering, the exploder that almost brutally murdered WWE's cash-cow is in the video package.

05:30 (IST)9 AUG 2017

Welcome to Sportskeeda's coverage of SmackDown Live, and we're almost underway.

Orton and Mahal collide in non-title Grudge Match

WWE Champion Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton will collide tonight on SmackDown LIVE in a non-title grudge match. The rivalry between the two Superstars had been largely silent since their last meeting at WWE Battleground when The Modern-Day Maharaja escaped the Punjabi Prison to retain his title, thanks to an assist from The Great Khali, who held Orton inside the massive structure. Many thought their rivalry would be put on the back burner with both men focusing on separate matches at SummerSlam — Orton with Rusev and Mahal defending his title against Shinsuke Nakamura. These fierce rivals will clash again on SmackDown LIVE, however. Will the score be settled, or will one of the most intense rivalries in WWE continue on?

Shane McMahon to explain SummerSlam rules of engagement to Styles and Owens

Last week’s United States Championship match ended in controversy, when the official missed Kevin Owens clearly getting his shoulder off the mat before the three-count, due to being hit in the eye moments earlier.A furious Owens confronted SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan, shoving the official and demanding a rematch with a fair official. Bryan granted Owens’ wish, but appointed McMahon as the special guest referee for the SummerSlam showdown with AJ Styles, which seemed to incense Owens even more. With this rivalry reaching its boiling point, McMahon is laying down the law regarding his role as official at SummerSlam. The Commissioner will clear up any misconceptions either Superstar may have this Tuesday when he dishes out the rules of engagement on SmackDown LIVE.

Naomi clashes with Ms. Money in the Bank

SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi continued to assert her dominance over the division last week, forcing Carmella to submit in tag team action.Though she’s currently preparing to defend her title against Natalya at SummerSlam, Naomi will have to deal with Ms. Money in the Bank this week on SmackDown LIVE, as Carmella demanded a one-on-one battle. Will Naomi put in a repeat performance of last week, or can Carmella weaken the champion and put herself closer to a potential cash-in?

Will Lana prove herself against Charlotte Flair?

Despite her best intentions, Lana cost her and Tamina a tag team match with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. The Ravishing Russian vowed to make it up to Tamina, announcing her intention to challenge Charlotte Flair.Lana’s wish has been granted, as she will take on The Queen on SmackDown. Will she be able to best the genetically superior Superstar, or will Charlotte make quick work of The Ravishing Russian?Featured Superstars Lana Charlotte FlairExclusive: Who is Lana challenging next week on SmackDown LIVE?Lana looks to make her mark in Women's tag team action: SmackDown LIVE, 25 July, 2017
