The biggest event of the year in WWE is just a fortnight away. WrestleMania 33 is being touted at the Ultimate Thrill Ride, featuring some of the biggest names in the industry. The card for the show of shows is starting to take shape and we look at some of the matches that have been announced for the grand event.
Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg(C) (for the WWE Universal Championship
)
Brock Lesnar will be looking at a chance for redemption when he faces WWE Universal Champion Goldberg. Goldberg has maintained a clean record against the Beast Incarnate, but all that could change with one F5 as Lesnar showed on Monday Night RAW. Paul Heyman attributed Lesnar’s humiliating loss at Survivor Series to the fact that the Beast had taken Goldberg lightly. However, Goldberg destroyed Lesnar at the Royal Rumble as well when he eliminated the Beat Incarnate with utmost ease. This match may be Brock Lesnar’s last opportunity to set the record straight against Goldberg. The two behemoths clash at the ultimate thrill ride, WrestleMania 33, with the fate of the WWE Universal Championship hanging in the balance.
Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt(C) (for the WWE Championship

Randy Orton sent out a message to Bray Wyatt when he burnt down the Wyatt Family compound. Orton Challenged the Wyatt patriarch to a match at WrestleMania with extreme ferocity in the backdrop of the Wyatt Family house engulfed in flames. The Viper claimed to have destroyed the soul to Sister Abigail to weaken the WWE Champion.
‘The Reaper of Worlds’ Bray Wyatt returned to Smackdown LIVE this past week claiming that he was stronger than ever now that he had inculcated the wickedness of Sister Abigail. This announcement led to Randy Orton contemplating his actions. Will the ‘New Face of Fear’ reign supreme at WrestleMania or will the ‘Apex Predator’ find a way to overcome the darkness of the Wyatt Family? Find out at WrestleMania 33.
Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns
It’s a battle of supremacy as the Phenom looks to hold his ground against the Big Dog. The Undertaker has been the single most dominant force at Wrestlemania. After two decades of dominance at the grandest stage of them all, the Deadman squares off against one of the most strongly booked WWE superstars in recent memory.
Roman Reigns made a statement about changing times when he eliminated the Undertaker from the Royal Rumble. The duo came face-to-face once again on Monday night RAW. This time, the Undertaker settled the score with a chokeslam to Reigns sounding the bells for a high-profile clash at the Showcase of Immortals. It will be a turf war when these two larger than life personalities clash against each other.
Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho(C) (for the United States Championship)
Best friends turned bitter enemies, Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens will seek to sort some personal issues when they meet at Wrestlemania. Owens chose the ironic setting of the Festival of Friendship to sever ties with best friend, Chris Jericho. He attacked Jericho and smashed his head against an LCD screen. This assault resulted in a slew of injuries for Jericho.
Jericho pulled one on Owens too, when he distracted that latter, that led to Owens losing the WWE Universal Championship to Goldberg at Fastlane. Owens held Jericho responsible for his loss and promised to make him suffer. This friendship implodes at Wrestlemania with Kevin Owens staking a claim for Jericho’s United States Championship.
The Miz and Maryse vs. John Cena and Nikki Bella
For the better part of a year, The Miz and Maryse have taken every opportunity to tell the WWE Universe that they are the ‘It’ couple of WWE. Miz and Maryse even managed to rub John Cena and Nikki Bella the wrong way. Miz and Maryse managed to turn the rivalry into a personal war of attrition when they accused John and Nikki of using their status in the company to affect decisions.
John Cena was a guest on Miz TV and went off about beating up the Miz. The Miz and Maryse used Talking Smack as a platform to state that John Cena and Nikki Bella’s relationship was a farce manufactured just for the sake of reality TV. Smackdown LIVE General Manager, Daniel Bryan set up a match between the two couples this past week. Miz and Maryse will look to repeat the former’s Wrestlemania XXVII performance against John Cena and Nikki Bella, where he retained the WWE Championship against the Leader of the Cenation.
Bayley(C) vs. charlotte vs. Sasha Banks (for the RAW Women’s Championship
)
Bayley has had a dream run with the RAW Women’s Championship, but come Wrestlemania 33; the huggable one will be looking across the ring at a trusted friend and a fierce enemy. Charlotte Flair claimed that Bayley would not come out of Fastlane as the Women’s Champion had it not been for Sasha Banks. The Boss involved herself in the matchup allowed Bayley to pin the distracted Charlotte. Sasha herself found herself in the title picture once again after she picked up a win against the Women’s Champion in an impromptu match on Monday Night RAW.
At Wrestlemania, Bayley will have her task cut out as she defends her beloved Championship against the only two women that have held the gold in the past one year.
Alexa Bliss defends the SmackDown Women’s Championship against every available woman on the SmackDown Live roster
Alexa Bliss will be in for the title defense of her life at her first Wrestlemania as she looks to brave through a storm of women all gunning for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. Daniel Bryan made the decision to grant a title shot to every available woman of the Smackdown roster when Bliss was unable to identify a single competitor for her title defense at Wrestlemania. As of now, Becky Lynch, Mickie James, Natalya, and Carmella have been confirmed at the participants in this matchup. But there could be a few more women to jump into the fray before Wrestlemania.
Although this isn’t the ideal match for any champion, the Wicked Witch of WWE will look to use her cunning methods in the ring to defend the championship against the barrage of women coming at the title.
Neville(C) vs. Austin Aries (for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship
)
It was an interview gone wrong for Neville as he managed to provoke Austin Aries to attack him. Aries said that his injury had healed completely and he was ready to bring the Cruiserweight division to the “A-double” level. Aries won a Fatal 5-way match against TJ Perkins, Brian Kendrick, Akira Tozawa, and Tony Nese to punch his ticket to the Ultimate Thrill Ride, Wrestlemania 33.
WWE Cruiserweight champion will face his most formidable opponent at Wrestlemania 33 as he defends against the Great Man that Ever Lived.
Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson(C) vs. Enzo and Bigg Cass vs. Cesaro and Sheamus (for the RAW Tag Team Championships
)
The RAW Tag team Champions Gallows and Anderson interfered in one match too many when they decided to disrupt the proceedings of a match between the team of Enzo and Cass against Sheamus and Cesaro to decide the number 1 contenders for the tag titles. As a result, RAW General Manager Mick Foley decided to make the match a triple threat affair at the ‘Show of Shows’ in Orlando. Therefore, the Club will have to defend their titles against two sets of challengers in the experienced duo of Sheamus and Cesaro and the smack-talking, hard-hitting pair of Enzo and Cass.
Apart from these, a few more matches such as AJ Styles vs. SHane McMahon, Triple H vs. Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose vs. Baron Corbin are rumored to be added to the card in the coming weeks.
