In some games, modding can be a challenging task, but Minecraft Forge makes it a lot easier. Furthermore, since the Minecraft modding group is so large, any question you have would almost certainly have already been asked and answered.
Minecraft Forge is a free, open-source server for installing and running Minecraft mods. It was developed to make community-created game mods for Minecraft: Java Edition more accessible. This framework effectively allows any Minecraft player to download, install, and run mods without requiring advanced technical and/or programming skills.
You must have Minecraft installed and run at least once before you can install Forge. This will ensure that you have all of the correct files downloaded and functional.
This will take you to the latest edition of Minecraft Forge's download tab. It is recommended that you download only the Minecraft Forge edition that corresponds to the Minecraft version you are using. If you're playing Minecraft 1.14, for example, you can get Minecraft Forge 1.14. The links to the various variants of Minecraft Forge can be found in the list on the left area of the screen. At the time of writing the recommended version to download is 1.16.5 - 36.1.0 as opposed to the 1.16.5 - 36.1.13 which is the latest release.
The installer button is represented by an icon that resembles a filing cabinet in the box labelled "Recommended Download" on the right. Clicking the icon will direct you to the website that hosts the download file.
The downloaded file will be called "forge-[version number]-installer.jar". The location of the file varies based on the settings of your browser. It will most likely be sent to your downloads folder by default. After locating the file, double-click it.
If it isn't, click the box or circle next to it before proceeding.
On Windows, the Minecraft installation directory should be C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft." Select “...” to the right of the path if the path mentioned at the bottom of the installer window isn't accurate. Then open the Minecraft install folder by navigating to it in the file explorer popup.
Once you click ok the downloading will commence. This is how all the client files and folders for Minecraft Forge will be installed on your computer.
Once Minecraft is loaded up change the profile to 'forge'.Once the game loads, you'll see a new 'Mods' menu on the start screen. Click this and choose which mods to use.
