Droppers are incredibly versatile for creating automated Redstone systems in Minecraft. With a Dropper, your automation options are balanced and plentiful! Droppers work even better in tandem with Hoppers, another piece of the automation puzzle. Droppers are different from hoppers, in that they focus on ejecting and pushing items rather than sorting them into bespoke containers.
Look in Caves for these resources.
Place 1 Redstone Dust in the center of the bottom row, with two Cobblestone on either side. Place Cobblestone in every cell but the center cell to finish crafting your Dropper.
Droppers can be used in any direction, unlike the Hopper. Place a Hopper and it will automatically be arranged facing towards you. You must press the use key while facing the Dropper to open this block and access the storage. This will open the Dropper UI, which can be labelled any custom name as shown below. Place a Chest in front of a dropper for a simple example of the functionality.
Q. This is the same block as the Dispenser, right?
No, actually! Dispensers function differently from Droppers in that they are able to eject arrows and other projectiles. This can be useful for building booby traps.
Droppers are underrated automation blocks that have tons of use cases. These blocks are often ignored because of their similarity to Dispensers, but Dispensers do not have the extra option to eject materials as entities.
