Minecraft Items

Minecraft Items
Source: Youtube

A Minecraft item refers to an entity that exclusively exists within the possession of a player, either within their inventory or currently held in their hands. Alternatively, it can be seen when placed in item frames, glow item frames, or showcased on armor stands.

Behavior

Certain items, when utilized, have the ability to introduce a block variant (referred to as ItemBlock) or an entity (such as minecarts or spawn eggs) into the game world. Essentially, these items maintain their item form while residing in the player's inventory but transform into blocks once they are placed. For instance, boats assume the form of an entity upon placement, whereas beds take shape as a group of blocks.

When an item is selected from the hotbar, its name briefly appears above the heads-up display (HUD), providing a visual indication of the currently chosen item. To visually showcase an item within the game environment, it must be placed within an item frame, serving as the sole method of display.

If an item that does not transform into a block is dropped, it transforms into an entity represented by a sprite hovering above the ground. This sprite persists for approximately five minutes within a loaded chunk before it disappears (despawns), unless the player collects it before it vanishes, a mob picks it up, a hopper or a minecart with hopper draws it in, or it is destroyed by elements like fire, lava, cacti, or explosions.

An object submerged in water tends to rise towards the water's surface, propelled by the current. Hoppers possess the ability to draw in any items positioned directly above them.

The majority of items are capable of stacking up to 64 units in a single slot, while some items can only stack up to 16, and a few items cannot stack at all. However, through inventory editing, all types of items can be stacked up to a maximum of 127.
